    At Sunscape Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, kids ages 3-12 will have a blast with all the fun-filled activities at the Explorer’s Club for Kids. All Explorer’s Club staff is certified by the Red Cross in CPR for children, designed to entertain the little ones with different programs based on science, nature and exploration.

    The program offers the following fully-supervised activities daily so mom and dad can have some alone time and peace of mind:

    Great week at Sunscape

    Sunscape PV had everything we needed for a great vacation. The resort is on the smaller side which was very convenient. We don't like having to walk very far inside the resort to get from one place to another. When we forgot something in our room, it was a short trip to go back and get it. No wasted time! We also loved the location. It was easy to go outside and see more of the city. The staff was the best though! They were so accommodating and kind. From Christian holding our bags at the front, to the check in staff, to the restaurant staff, to Frank and the amazing E-team - they were all rockstars! The beach was clean and the ocean calm. The food was good. The entertainment was great. Our son loved seeing the Iguanas and playing mini golf. They also have the most gorgeous sunsets there. We were very happy with our week long vacation.

    Friendly Staff, But the Property Is in Serious Need of a Full Renovation

    I recently stayed at Sunscape Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing resort experiences I’ve had. Let’s start with the rooms — they are SUPER outdated. Not just “a little worn,” but truly in rough condition. There was visible rust on the bathroom door hinges and on the mirror fixture. The furniture was beat up and looked like it had been there for decades. It did not feel clean or refreshed — just old and neglected. The food situation was equally disappointing. The buffet was very small and completely lacked cohesion — it felt like a random assortment of dishes thrown together. This is the first buffet I’ve ever been to that didn’t even have a proper salad bar, which says a lot. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all underwhelming. The à la carte restaurants were also not good. The only consistently decent food the entire stay was the burgers and hot dogs at the food truck. The pool water was murky from day 1 through day 4. For a beachfront resort, that’s unacceptable. A clean pool is the bare minimum expectation. While staying here, I attended a presentation tour at Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa / Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta, which are also under the Hyatt umbrella. Even the host at the presentation expressed sympathy that we were staying at Sunscape and admitted it was not a good property. That alone should tell you something. They appear to be “renovating,” but honestly, the only thing that seems updated are the elevators. This property doesn’t need minor upgrades — it needs to be shut down, fully renovated from top to bottom, and then reopened. In its current state, it feels like it should be condemned. The reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. They were kind, professional, and doing their best despite working in a property that clearly needs major investment. I would not return, and I would not recommend this resort until significant renovations are completed.

    Overall it okay

    The hotel was very clean but the food was okay in the general eating area. I l loved the Italian restaurant Mexican restaurant was good except for the bar setting was not comfortable

    2 star hotel with 4 star amenities

    It's a 2 star hotel with 4 star amenities. The room was in rough shape with holes in the drapes and no hot water. The place echoes so you can hear everything (thin walls and tile floors) at all hours of the night. The kids bunk beds squeaked and the ladder was not properly bolted to the frame and when a kid was climbing down from the top the ladder would slam into the metal frame. The saving grace of our trip with the delicious food, drinks, and weather. The restaurants we're good, but got crowded as there is only 2 places for lunch, 2 places for dinner (1 fancy dinner that has a dress code) and 1 option for a good breakfast. The kids enjoyed the kids club, which kept them busy all day with time in the pool and other activities. Would I come here again...no, unless it was on the high levels away from the pool and lobby.

    Would go back in a flash!

    As price was reasonable we didn’t expect much but were pleasantly surprised with great room and view! Staff very pleasant and helpful. Beach good, pool good and good food options. Easy transportation into city.
