Small Paradise

Very relaxed and beautiful resort! Lots of good food options! However for this to be an Adults Only Resort, there were tons of children there! The sister property right next door is family friendly and they have access to the Adults Only side where some of the restaurants are and as expected the kids stayed up all night running around being kids! Other than the kids...This property is beautiful and very comfortable! I enjoyed every bit of it!

Just Fair

First the positive the waiters and waitresses at the Azul were excellent and the food was great. We went there a lot as it was one of few adults only places to eat. We paid extra for adults only and they combined adults and the families way too much. Families were intermingled at the buffets and most restaurants. The buffets were like a cafeteria so loud! The pool at the family side was so nice and had a swim up bar and we always heard music and things going on there. the pool for adults was small and dirty had bugs floating and the first day a piece of the lining hanging off the stair. No swim up bar for adults which makes no sense! Music was played on and off Most of the time no music and you didn’t feel like you were in the carribean. The noise from the planes was extremely loud you couldn’t relax by the pool. There Really wasn’t a beach you had to walk through the family side to get to The small beach We never could go in the water as it was too rough. The front desk never had change which I never encountered at other resorts. One bar opened 8 am but the bartender would not serve blended drinks till 9 if the bar is open then it should serve any drink you want! We asked for a drink and they ran out of the liquor we wanted but they didn’t get it from another bar for you instead you would have to seek out a bar that had the liquor you wanted! There were employees that went above and beyond but it just wasn’t an adults only all inclusive I am use to!

Excellent trip amazing value

The hotel is absolutely beautiful best Caribbean island I’ve been to so far. I felt safe at all times through the entire island, service was great but the food hotel and views were the most beautiful I’ve ever been to. You definitely get a good bang for your buck going there.

Lovely

Wife and I had a blast. We've been to other all inclusives that cost less and this was sort of a test drive in whether "you get what you pay for". You do. The resort is beautiful for starters. The food is decent and they try really hard to make it great, with mixed results. After the ridiculously bad food I had at my last resort, the food here was like heaven. I really enjoyed the Sizzling Lava Rock meal, The Point, and lunches at Azul. The room had a light moldy odor each time we entered which never really went away but was quickly not noticeable. We were easily able to ignore it because we are not whiny babies and because we absolutely loved our room and its location. If you're staying on the adults only side, which I do highly recommend, rooms 128-131 have swim out patios directly into the Edge pool. This was highly preferable as we could easily swim out and get drinks from staff at Azul or just from wandering servers who patrol the Edge pool area(hours may vary). All 1st floor rooms have swim out pools but the others are sort of semi-private shared pools with your nearest neighbors and have no inherent wait service to get and keep you drinking. If I was staying in one of those rooms I might probably get a Butler. 128-131 do not require a Butler due to total accessibility. Our room was lacking a shower door which was fine because the floor was often wet anyway from me rushing in from the pool for one dumb reason or another. That night be the case in every room but I have no idea. The staff here is pretty amazing actually. It seems like there is way too many of them, but that's just a win win. Shout out to Damion in the Azul bar and Jennifer and Angel who also typically worked at Azul, but bounced around some. Great attitudes, lots of fun. The beach is great, I'm sure other reviews have plenty to say about it. The vendors didn't bother me. The ocean is gorgeous temperature and color. One day we had some nasty pine needles like seaweed that was annoying but not really the resorts problem. I recommend going to the beach 2 hours or less before sunset. It gets less crowded and the sun is really intense here. Got sunburned pretty handily despite textbook sunscreen use. Finally my favorite thing about this resort. They try really hard! Sometimes their attempts are cheesy but they really are working hard to make you have a good time. There was frequent live entertainment all over the place and most of it was pretty good. As an Edge pool fan I was happily surprised to be serenaded on at least 4 occasions by very decent singers and one saxophonist. The cold scented towels on check in were a nice touch. So many more good things to say here. I really just recommend the place. It's as good as I hoped for at this price point
