    Sonesta Ocean Point

Outstanding! Everything from the staff, views and food were amazing! Sheryl at the pool bar, along with Jeremey, Charlie and many others made this such a friendly place to be. Everyone we met was incredible. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning to this beautiful island oasis!

Relaxing stay at a beautiful resort!

Check-In: we initially went to the wrong lobby (user error) and it frankly seemed like chaos on that side. But to check in for the Ocean Point was very easy and quiet. You will be dropped off at the main gate by the taxi and taken to the OP lobby by golf cart- or you walk. We did arrive before the room was ready, but we were given a wristband so that we could use the pool or have lunch. Room: We stayed in a junior suite swim- out room. If it's in your budget, I highly recommend it! The pool is semi-private, and our room happened to be on the end so there are only neighbors on one side. Room itself was suitable for two people, the bathroom was nice and had good products. The mini bar has water, sodas and beers, and also full bottles of liquor. Note: there are also upgraded swim- out rooms that feed into the Edge pool. Food/drink: most of the food was nothing to write home about- the buffet for breakfast in my opinion was really disappointing. Azul, however, is very very good (We had lunch and dinner there)! We did get room service for breakfast 3 out of the 4 days, and that was also very good (I recommend the pancakes).Portofino was also pretty good. Cantina Paradiso (on the Maho side) was hit or miss. Mixed drinks were very good, though slightly watered down. If you're concerned about thatt, you can always have beer and wine. It really didn't bother us though. Pools: We did have a semi-private pool in our room, but we did go to other pools on the property, The Edge pool was by far my favorite. It has a man-made beach and the pool itself overlooks the ocean; wait staff is available to take drink orders. Point pool was also fun; on the day we went there was a DJ and a BBQ. There is also a bar. Finding a chair at either pool was never an issue. Note: check the schedule as food is not served at the pool every day. Vibe: The vibe was relaxing. But vacation is what you make of it, so if you want to party, that's an option. If I want to have relaxing days and quiet dinners like we did, that's also an option. Service: each staff we encountered was helpful and friendly. The island: can't say much about the overall island as we only ventured off the resort for one afternoon, to drive around. If you are going to drive, there is a rental car facility in the hotel, on the Maho side. Just be prepared, the roads are narrow. I sometimes use a cane and found the airport staff very accommodating of my mobility needs. The resort was also accessible for me. Beach: there is not a private beach, but the public Maho beach is right next to the resort. Chairs are available. The airport is right next to it so you can watch the planes fly over- Maho beach is famous for that. Note: if your bothered by plane noise, be aware. I'm not as I grew up near an airport, but I recognize this may not be for everyone. Watching the planes was fun for us. The location also means it's very short cheap cab ride from the airport- it cost us 10 USD for 2 passengers. US dollars accepted, cash only. TLDR: cons, some of the food was disappointing and there is no private beach. Also wish pool-side dining was more readily available. Pros, pretty much everything else!

Beautiful spot. Get one of the 12 units w/ direct ocean view.

Great spot near the airport tucked away on the water. We got a swim out room (#128) which we would request again. We ate breakfast lunch and dinner at Azul. All the staff was great especially Sidia and Rhianna at Azul. We got the butler service and I would say to pass on that. We hardly used it. The resort (the ocean pointe area) was pretty empty and felt we had the place to ourselves. Could be that we came in June during hurricane season but the weather was great. Would definitely returns.

One of my best vacations ever

The resort is beautiful and the food was delicious!!! I had a swim up room with butler service and my butlers were beyond amazing. Dane and V were literally reading my mind and took care of my every need even before I asked. This was my first time in St. Maarten and I will definitely return….
