Third and probably last time
Well our third anniversary trip to this resort. First time was great second time they have put our room number which they did again this trip. We upgraded to adult floor and I was told I get vip points of 10k but of course they said no when we got there. Room service was not so good my opinion. One night they said they had no cook and kept hanging up on me. So I went down to the front desk funny they got through with no issues. So I ordered but cancelled as didn’t trust the guy I talked to on the phone. We ended up I’ll for the last four days not there fault but killed our trip for sure. Buffet was good as always but no more steak house :( lived cooking my steak on the hot rock. It is worth going if you haven’t been. But I won’t be back and the upgrade to me seemed like a downgrade as could not watch the planes and that’s what it’s all about there. Parrot farm was my favourite this trip. A must do.

We had a great time thanks to all you we dealt with. 😊👍
My husband and I travelled to St.Maarten on Oct 12 to 19. This was our second time. We stayed at the Maho Sonesta hotels and resort. We found the place renovated. We liked it very much and we had a great time. Starting from the check in, we found a very friendly manager Cedric at the front desk who greeted us very welcoming, the staff we found this time were very pleasant and friendly. We were the last ones to get a room, it didn’t bother us, we waited patiently. Later I saw first had how the cleaning ladies worked hard to prepare a clean and comfortable room for the guest. Thanks to Carmen and Shawnette, for taking care of us cleaning our room and giving us clean towels. The next day in the morning we visited the Maho cafe, we were greeted by Shaline and two other servers in the cafe. Very fast service, beautiful smiles, and very patient with the guest coming in. They always said good morning, you are welcome and have a wonderful day. We had breakfast at Oceanterrance the service was excellent, the cooks were pleasing everyone with the orders of fried eggs and hamlets, delicious food, compliments to the chefs. We were also served by Anthony and Darlington, two young man who have a friendly way of dealing with everyone coming for breakfast and lunch. One thing that I experienced and I didn’t like was that some guest treated them like if they were their slaves, very rude, and disrespectful, I heard a guest complaining that they paid lots of money to travel there and they were not getting good service. That was a lie. I saw first hand how bad this guest was treating the employees, and that is not right, they should be treated with respect. It is hard for me to remember all the employees names but I mentioned the ones that dealt with us personally, in general they are all beautiful people, they are all there to work and make ends-meet like we all do in our respective countries. We also visited the Italian restaurant we were served by Andrene, beautiful person, patiently dealing with rude people, and not loosing her temper is to admire. The greeters also encountered rude people that had to much to drink, they wanted fast service and did have the patience to wait. Malfi, Navita, the towel lady and all the servers were great. I have tried to remember all their names but I am sorry I couldn’t. They all deserve respect, kindness. The cleaning crew, to mention a few like, Aladdin and Santos, I call them the two amigos, very friendly, funny and respectful. Also they encountered problems with the guest. One person was coming in all soaking wet from the swimming pool to the lobby, Aladdin politely told him that he should dry himself before coming in for their own safety, he didn’t like it and headed his way to his manager, but Aladdin went to talk to the manager himself, and the situation was dealt with. And to all the people that will like to visit Maho Sonesta I will say very good choice and to make sure no to forget that you too have to work to survive. Make sure your vacation is a happy one because when you make other people happy, no matter the race and or colour of their skin you will be happy too. To the owner, I will say you have a beautiful crew working for you. Thank you all for making our vacation one to remember.

Disgusting accommodations and horrible customer service
Upon entering the hotel, it was hot, had a moldy order (smell) and was dingy. We waited approximately 40 minutes to check into the hotel. The room was not ready. ( In all fairness we arrived a few minutes before check-in time.). As we waited in the lobby area, we noticed that hotel lobby had a strong order that smelled of mold. Keeping an open mind we waited to see the room. Once we went into the room we saw that it was definitely NOT a 3 star or 4 star resort! It appeared to be closer to a 1-star facility! There were spots on the walls, the room appeared to have dirty floors and the smell in room #736 was very strong! As I stated previously, it smelled like/ felt like mold. It was at this point that we decided to leave this hotel. We attempted to talk to the front desk staff but were unable to get any answers. We were told that we needed to speak with reservations. We attempted to get a taxi and leave the resort. The hotel security began to question us as to where we were going and if we were coming back. Two hotel staff followed us to the taxi and said that we looked like we weren’t coming back. As 2 single women on a girls trip, we felt very uncomfortable and felt threatened. We told them that we were coming back. They finally allowed us to leave the premises. We immediately looked up the availability at another hotel. After we left the Sonesta, I attempted to call the hotel several times. After I gave them the initial information, they placed me on hold for an extended period of time ( while they went to get the manager). I was on hold for over 20 minutes. No one ever came back to the telephone. I called again and they hung up on me twice. I took a taxi back to the Sonesta Hotel to ask for paperwork stating that we checked out of the hotel (although we never stayed in the room) and they stated that they couldn’t give me paperwork. I would have to request it via email. Once I made the request, I was sent an email that did not address my concerns or provide me with any paperwork. Instead, I was told that the hotel was non refundable and we as consumers have no recourse. I would urge anyone considering booking this “resort” to reconsider. It was truly a horrible experience. The workers were not helpful and facilities were worn down. If you are still interested in the Sonesta, go to St. Martin and book another hotel for one night. Take a taxi to the Sonesta and look at it, ask to see a room. Make your decision once you see and smell it. If you want to stay there once you see and smell it, I’m sure that they can accommodate you from all the guests who flee the hotel in search of decent accommodations. By the way, while we were at our new hotel, 2 other groups of people also fled the Sonesta Hotel…. To the hotel marketing staff… please do not post.. “We regret that we did not meet your expectations….” I know that you did not care about me or my expectations. Once I prepaid for the hotel, you could care less about my experience. The hotel staff was very disappointing….
