Great overall value, couple things ehh

So first of all, we did the “Deal of Fortune” when booking this trip. So we feel like we definitely saved some money. For what we got with the room, food and drinks, flight, insurance, and transportation arranged. It was definitely a great value. When we got to the resort, they signed us up for some tour the next day to try and get us to book another trip with them. We thought about doing this because we really wanted to get massage at the spa ($200ish/person) and they would give us credit so it would cover basically just one of us. We ended up opting out because they scheduled us for 830am the next morning. We got to the hotel around 2 and by the time we checked in, got lunch, and we’re able to get in our room, it was after 3 and this time of year, sunset is aroun 530. Needless to say we didn’t get a lot of beach time and didn’t want to start off our honeymoon with a ditty about signing up... and we figured we could get massages back at home for a heck of a lot cheaper. And it’s a good thing we cancelled. We ended up reading reviews and what is supposed to get not be a 90 minute presentation ended up taking half the day and that wasn’t worth it for us. Food. It was ok. When we got to the resort the first day, the only thing available was the buffet, so they said, and it was not great. Maybe we just got there too late and it was going to be closing soon. We were disappointed with most of our dinners at the resort. We are lucky to have eaten a lot of good food in our life, so maybe we are spoiled or too bougie for our own good. For dinner, our favorite place was Seaside Grill at St. James. We had the best waiter there as well! His name was Kehan/Kelvan/Kelen. Something like that; I should have jotted it down. We didn’t get to eat at Oceana for dinner, but we did stop by there for dessert to see our favorite waiter and he hooked us up because they were out of the dessert we wanted the previous night at Seaside. We also had habachi, pretty decent, but the staff is awesome. We also had dinner at the Jamaican restaurant and the Italian restaurant and they were both just ok. We probably wouldn’t go back to these if we travelled to the resort again. For lunch, THE JERK chicken is where it’s at. A guy in a cart travels around with it. Get it. Last day we had the buffet again and it was better than the first. We actually Really enjoyed the stand off the beach. Had chips you could self serve, patties, and burgers. The turkey and the hamburger were pretty decent. Oceana also had a nice lunch. Breakfast, we did the buffet everyday, had lots of options, and enjoyed it. We did get room service for a snack one day. It was ok, don’t have high expectations. The staff was hot and miss. It’s like people were either awesome or just seemed like they didn’t want to be there. We really liked our room, it was spacious. We had a great view of the cool and could still see the ocean as well. We were leaving n the first floor which was convenient. The issue we had with our room was the shower leaked sooo bad. We literally had puddes on the floor and one day we came in to find water leaking from the ceiling. It was nice hat the housekeep staff restocked the fridge in the room with drinks. The beach and the pool... these were great!! We loved the room and all the different seating options. We got out there early to reserve our spot. Make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen. It’ll cost you at least 16ish dollars, but we did see a bottle for around 3ish too. Tax is also 16.5 I think, so keep that in mind. They make really good hot chocolate at their coffee shop, just an FYI. We did book transportation through Cheap Caribbean. We were in a van on the way to the resort which was great. On the way back, a HUGE tour bus picked us up. Our pick up was at 110 and they got there late, plus once we got in, it was sooo cramped. The seats were tiny, my carry on duffle and purse were basically sitting on my chest. We then made a couple other stops to pick up guest from the other two resorts on the compound. That and wig traffic, I was getting nervous that we were cutting it too close. We ended up being just fine, but if we booked again, I would maybe see about a different company to transport us. But it was nice having that prearranged.

great relaxing vacation

The resort is very nice. The location is excellent. Almost all of the employees were friendly, helpful, and did a good job. The entertainment staff did a great job. Love the coffee bar. Wish there was another beer available for those of us that do not love the Red Stripe. Had some issues with the room, but they were addressed properly. Did not like the check in process where we were being interviewed and trying to be sold on future vacations, we were tired and hungry and just wanted to get the vacation started asap. Would go back there in the future though.

Honeymoon.

We went for our honeymoon in November and it was great . Food is great people are so nice. We did preferred with butler which was nice for a honeymoon but we didn’t really use it besides reservations and saving seats at the beach which there was more than enough chairs anyway !

What's to Love

As of June 2018 you can bring your furry friend along!

Chilly towels and refreshing champagne welcome you, Mon. (Start sayin' it, Mon, - you're in Jamaica.)

Strolling along a stretch of white-sand beach while gazing at the cobalt blue mountain range in the distance.

The Relaxing Moon and Stars massage (where you are beatified with tropical ingredients) and the Mud Bath Room (where you get dirty to get purified).

Butler phones booked through the Preferred Club. They'll draw your bath, bring you a coffee, you name it.

Awesome wedding/honeymoon packages with a 15% discount on all spa treatments.

What We'd Change

We wish Secrets Wild Orchid offered more swim-out rooms. They sell out quickly, but you can usually snag one by booking well in advance of your vacation.

Why You Should Go

Only 25 minutes from the airport, which means that first vacay cocktail is only minutes away.

Upgrade to the Preferred Club, get better rooms, afternoon hot and cold hors d' oeuvres and more.

Attention athletes: you can play tennis, beach football or volleyball.

Check out the jogging trail, water aerobics, the fitness center and dance classes. (lotsa things to keep you moving).

You can go on ATV rides and for less jostling around, you can play ping pong.

For a switch, you can play bocce ball, darts, or grab a game on a giant chess board.

Some of the restaurants have dress codes so make sure you bring your gussied-up duds. (No flip flops, tank tops or pumps with bikinis).

There are five golf courses nearby, one of which is the famed White Witch Golf Course & one that Tiger would love.

For water babies: sailing, catamaran, kayaking, snorkeling & deep-sea fishing.

You can sign up for introductory scuba in the swimming pool.

If you do the Secrets of Love wedding package, you can get Wedgwood Vera Wang Love Knots toasting flutes. Very nice.
