Location, location, location
Beautiful, super clean little hotel in a prime location, right on a white sand beach, walking distance from marketplace, shops and eateries and only a short 15 minute ride from Old San Juan. Two things can use improvement: 1. Please put mini fridges in rooms and 2. Beach umbrellas and loungers are taken and stored away every day after 5pm. If we feel like taking a nap on the lounger into the sunset, we should be allowed to, We’re on vacation after all.
Everything else at this hotel was wonderful, from helpful and friendly staff to delicious food and cocktails, both at the rooftop bar and the main restaurant. I would love to come back!
Hotel is very nice, rooms are a little small but good enough. Hotel breakfast is good. LOVE that the hotel is right on the beach! Not surprise charges after checkout. Overall I give it 5 stars!
My husband and I are a young couple with no kids and we stayed here for a long weekend Feb 2019. It is a smaller boutique hotel with a South Beach vibe (without the attitude) and directly across from the beach and worth every single penny!!
PROs:
Right across from the beach
Free beach chairs and umbrellas
Beach service
Lots of restaurants in walking distance
Casino in walking distance
24 hr CVS across the street
Uber service 10-20$ to visit other parts of PR of tourist interests
Charlie’s car rental across the street
Roof top bar- Amazing food and happy hour drink specials every day. Also, great vibe, service, open super late with music and never too crowded
Breakfast included in the rate with a made to order omelette/eggs option
CONs:
You have to give up your beach chair at 5PM because they clean up the beach and put them away (understandable) so you can just continue to lay in the sand if you want to stay
Never enough towels in the room for 2 people
Front desk staff at night was clueless (asked directions- no clue, dropped our laundry off and it was never sent out)
Smaller/dated rooms (but clean)!

We contacted the resort inquiring when the rooftop pool will reopen. Unfortunately, they were unable to give an anticipated date.
MariaCC
i don't know I was their a week ago and it still was not open.
sumintra
I just stayed there and the staff told me the end of this month it would be finished.
Mist
The rooftop pool is now open (February 2012).
reganomics18
We didn't even try to swim in the pool, but it sure looked open to me. It's a small pool but a glorious one -- unimpeded views of the coastline on three sides.
Elegancia
It's open now

It was open last week when we were there (Sept 2013)

what is the best beach for snorkling in Puerto Rico?4 answers
8 years, 99 months ago
s
According to www.snorkeling.info, the San Juan area offers some snorkeling opportunities, but not of the same quality of the eastern and southern coast, or the outlying islands. The choppy waters of the Atlantic can make snorkeling a much trickier (and more dangerous) activity - as always, be careful when you head into the water and be aware of your surroundings. DIY snorkeling can be found near the San Juan bay marina (near the Caribe Hilton), and the nearby beaches of Luquillo and Isla Verde frequently have kiosks where you can rent equipment. Snorkeling on Condado beach can be dangerous due to the conditions, try the area near the Condado Plaza hotel for some calmer waters. Many San Juan hotels offer Snorkeling excursions that leave from the hotels and head to the calmer waters off Fajardo, about a one hour drive.
MariaCC
We didn't have time to go snorkeling in Puerto Rico, but the hotel has a toll-free number, and I am sure they would offer you great advice. There's also a company called Natural Wonders (we didn't use them but we ran into them when we were touring the rainforest, El Junque). They seemed to know everything about Puerto Rico's "natural side" and on the day we ran into them, they were being filmed by CNN...;I'm sure you can Google them...
Elegancia
get with the people downstairs at the front desk. I went snorkling on a little cruise. they will pick you up and bring you back to the hotel. WHATEVER bechs that was, it was FUN!
longdonglee3000
not Isla Verde. Google that for tours.

Is close proximity of an airport disruptive in terms of noise?11 answers
I just found out that water and beach club hotel is less than 5 minutes away from the international airport. Obviously I do not want to be woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of a descending plane. could anyone please let me know how loud does it get on a of scale 1 to 10?
Thank you so much,
MG

New York, ny
We have never received any complaints from our clients regarding noise due to the distance of the airport.
MariaCC
Hi New York. I am super-sensitive to noise and I just last week stayed at this hotel. Our room (506) was super-quiet throughout the night. In the morning after, say, 8 am, I heard one or two jets, but that's all. The jets take off and land over the water and because of the stiff Atlantic breezes, the sound gets carried out to sea. So no worries!
Elegancia
1, i only heard jets taking off/landing during the afternoon while lounging on the beach, there was no issues whatsoever with jet noise at night.
Localdougy
Only time I heard a plane was outside at the beach and even then it wasn't bothersome.
michellenc
The planes fly almost right next to the hotel and you would never know it. The ONLY issue that may arise, is the music from the rooftop, you can hear the bass kick a little bit if you are a light sleeper, but turning or keeping the air on dulled it.
BigScoop82
We never had a problem with that at all. No worries.
onehandedwonder
No you can't hear any planes, it's not noisy at all.
deejay3132
I was amazed that you didn't hear planes at all. I think the flight path is not directly over the hotel. It was so convenient to the airport and you didn't hear or see planes at all.
Zukty
Not bad actually - I think the flight path must have the planes traveling elsewhere. I stayed at Montego Bay, Jamaica and had this problem before but had no issues in Isla Verde.
Cask
We stayed there Sept 2013 and never heard any airplanes.
JJWB
no airport noise overnight. minimal during day.

Unfortunately, Puerto Rico does not have any All Inclusive resorts so meals are not included in the package price.
MariaCC
Nope!
michellenc
No meals where included in my package. They do have a ladies night on Friday nights and rum drink specials daily.
BigScoop82
no theyaren't, but you can find great food there in the restaurants!
onehandedwonder
No. but there is a nice eatery in the hotel and a bunch ofother affordable familure and cultural along the strip around the corner.

can you please tell me what your smoking policy is? Thank you
7 years, 93 months ago
gaithersburg, md
Puerto Rico has a no smoking policy and smoking is prohibited in the rooms and public areas. You are able to smoke outside.
ccsusan1
Only smoking allowed is on the roof top
michellenc
no smoking rooms, but we did smoke on our balcony
onehandedwonder
No smoking in rooms or balconies. Smoking allowed on the beach and there is a smoking area outside the hotel (far enough away from the front door) We saw no problems for either smokers or non-smokers while there.
Curleycue
There is a no smoking policy in this hotel and they require you and your guest to sign a form upon check-in regarding this policy. There is a $150 fee if you smoke in the room or on the balcony.
deejay3132
Non-smoking rooms, but you can smoke on the roof deck and outside. I recently stayed at this hotel.

Cont. Breakfast?11 answers
Is there a complimentary continental breakfast? Do they give you a free drink at the beach? I've read both of these happenings on different sites reviews
7 years, 92 months ago
aaabbbccc
It does not appear that any food or drink are included at the resort.
MariaCC
No. They have a restaurant called Zest but you have to pay for any food that you do eat. You can have it charged to your room or pay with cash or debit/credit.
Jessi87
At 130 on the beach they bring out coconut drink and at 330 they bring out fruit kabobs.....those are free
michellenc
No to both
DJJD
No to the breakfast, they do have excellent customer service on the beach, but it is not free.
onehandedwonder
No comp breakfast, but there is a breakfast buffet for $11 that includes coffee, juice, fruit & cheese, bagels and pastries. We did not get comp drinks on the beach, but every day someone would bring fruit on a stick and a coconut frozen smoothie, just for a quick snack.
Curleycue
I wasn't aware of a free cont breakfast, but you could purchase one in the restaurant downstairs. No free drinks on the beach either, although they do sometimes come by w free fruit kabobs or coconut ice cream.
Cask
No complimentary continental breakfast. No free drinks on the beach. They will bring free fruit on a stick.
JoseAtlanta
They do offer a continental breakfast as well as a menu at Zest but it is not complimentary and no free drinks at the beach. They do have a waitress that comes out to check if you want to order about every 30-45 minutes.
JJWB
No free breakfast or drinks at this hotel. They do offer a small coconut/cinnamon ice refreshment to those on the beach in the afternoon and this is no charge. The drink and food prices are high at this hotel. There are less expensive options on the same block though.
Middleman2
I don't wake up early enough for breakfast...no free drinks in my experience.

what is the transportation arrangement from the airport and how much4 answers
how far from the airport? how far from old san juan?
5 years, 72 months ago
Judy
If booking through CheapCaribbean.com we can help you arrange transportation to and from the airport.
BethCC
Less than 10 minutes from the airport. Cab is about $15. By cab you are 20 minutes or more from Old San Juan, depending on traffic. Fare is $25-$30. Can take the bus for $.75, but the schedule isn't posted, so you may have to spend some time waiting at the bus stop. It's right by the hotel though. Felt completely safe on the bus when I did take it.
Middleman2
Very close to airport . Less than 10 minutes. We arranged for transportation through Cheap Carribean. Moderately priced, they picked us up in a beautiful white Cadillac Escalade..Old San Juan less than 15 minutes
Hennyman
grab a taxi from the airport - $12-15. $15-18 taxi ride to Old San Juan

Generally check-in runs until the end of the day. If you are going to have flights with late arrival, it's often best to notify the resort so they know you will be arriving, which we'd be happy to do for you.

San Juan Water and Beach Club: Discover Island Chic
From the pristine beach only 10 feet away to a trendy new rooftop bar, San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel captures the attention of hip travelers. With recent $2.5m renovation, this boutique hotel in the upscale Isla Verde area of San Juan is exceptional, with award-winning decor and first-class service in an intimate environment.
As soon as you enter the lobby, you'll be welcomed with distinctive style. A
waterfall wall, violet ceiling lighting, limestone floors and frosted glass
create a stylish ambiance. Check in is accompanied by the sounds of gentle surf
corridor speakers to set the mood. The hall itself is a satisfying illusion:
you seem to be walking on pebbles, which are actually clever floor tiles. When
you enter the elevator, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the sight of another
waterfall behind glass.
Ready to catch some rays, or take a dip in the hotel pool? You'll find the
pool and sundeck on the rooftop. First grab a playa colada cocktail at Mist, the bar
on one side of the roof, before scoping out the sundeck. The Beds in Heaven,
over-sized lounging beds, catch your eye. "What a life," you think,
looking out over the Atlantic Ocean before sinking in. Or if you prefer a
perfect beach, just across the quiet street the two-mile stretch of Isla Verde
Beach with its golden sands are waiting for you.
When you're craving a little lunch to remember, try Mist, which transforms into a bar
from noon-10pm. Mist is widely recognized as one of the hottest spots in San
Juan. Maybe you'll catch sight of a celeb or two while you're unwinding with a
nightcap.
With only 81 rooms and suites, the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel
offers a cozy get-away for travelers tired of wearing wristbands at giant,
crowded resorts. Whether you stay in a room, you'll have floor-to-ceiling
windows with a view of the Atlantic. Soft lighting playing off neutral colors
calms you in your little haven. Upscale luxury, boutique service, this is the
spot for you!
This hotel is NOT all-inclusive. Food and drink must be purchased separately.
Unless otherwise specified, all services are available for an additional charge.
