Regret Paying to Vacation Here

I’ll start by saying this hotel has a lot of potential. I chose Royalton Blue Waters as my birthday destination. I was attracted to the high star ratings, the rooms, the swim out suite, the views, the slides and the upscale-ness of the photos displayed. Unfortunately, they did not deliver. The first day, although check in was very personable, it was very slow. We wasted at least an hour of hotel staff talking and trying to sell stuff. Pools: We had a swim out suite. The water was ice cold, everyday. We paid extra for this room and were never able to use our pool. The next day we attempted to have a pool day at the main pool. That pool was ice cold as well. We forced ourselves to get in hoping the sun would warm things up. The swim up bar had an awful smell, like vomit. We spent about 10 minutes total in the pool. There are also slides at this resort. No one ever used them, probably because the water was too cold. Rooms: We had friends on the 3rd floor. The smell in the elevator caused me to gag the entire way up. I never used the elevator again. Our room was never stocked with wash cloths. Everyday I wasted about an hour trying to retrieve wash cloths from the staff. Saturday-Monday the hotel had no hot water. Another guest mentioned this has been a problem since November. I hope not. Could this be the reason the pools were so cold? This brings another concern to mind; how are they sanitizing forks, knives, glasses, etc? How are they cleaning our rooms and towels? Food: The buffet wasn’t good. We ordered from the sports bar and beach bar often, as the food always came out fresh and hot. The burgers, fries, and chicken fingers were the best go to meals (just don’t order chicken fingers via room service). The Teppanyaki and Italian restaurants were good. Staff/Service: Our room seemed to always be cleaned. It was just never stocked with wash cloths. Room service took 45 minutes. The food was barely hot and not good. When calling to the front desk about wash cloths and hot water, either no one picked up or no one could give an update. One time, the front desk asked me to hold for guest services. I held for about 30 minutes, but no one ever came to the phone. Summary: I wouldn’t choose this hotel again. There are plenty other resorts with much better service. The hot water is a huge concern for me. I do not live like this at home, and I regret paying to vacation like this for my birthday. My personal opinion is that this place shouldn’t even be open until at least the hot water is resolved.

Buyer Beware

The hotel is beautiful, the grounds were immaculate, the rooms were comfortable. On paper this was going to be a wonderful vacation until we got there. Trouble with the air conditioning in our room (didn't work for two days), the ceiling was falling in our shower, telephone didn't work (even though they offer free call to the US), NO HOT WATER (I washed my hair one time in seven days with luke warm water). One morning we woke up and didn't have water at all!!! Electricity goes out daily....sometimes ten minutes, sometimes an hour. We made the best of it, but we saw as many as 50 people in line to check out early and move to another hotel on several mornings. Their staff is courteous, but are beaten down trying to defend such a disaster of a property. There is actually a Facebook page created to only discuss issues with Royalton Blue Waters. After I left people are still complaining about having no hot water or electricity. These are basic necessities and things that you would expect when you are spending so much money! On the good side, the people are wonderful! Santee at the swim up bar had a big smile and a contagious laugh and Annmarie took such good care of us everyday at breakfast and lunch in the buffet.

Quality Property, Great Service, Dining Options, R

I have been to Jamaica a number of times staying at a number of different all inclusive resorts from Negril to Ocho Rios. There is a distinct difference between Royalton Blue Waters and Royalton White Sands. Royalton Blue Waters is clearly the signature property of the two. With that said White Sands certainly has a lot to offer including the Jerk Hut, the martini bar and a few restaurants. The beaches of the two are very comparable. I did not do Diamond Club and upon reflection I would not spend the money on the upgrade. Diamond Club does offer exclusive seating for the buffet and does have a special Beach area and a Diamond Club bar however we never had any issues with waiting at the buffet or even being seeded at Zen which is probably the busiest restaurant of either property. We did do an Excursion to Ocho Rios however we planned the Excursion ourselves and did not use the property to set the Excursion however that option is available to you. People ask about Mobay Club. I have used it and not used it. Going through customs took less than 45 minutes this trip so it wasn't that big of a deal. You will find plenty of beach chairs and seating but if you want a good location make sure to get up early and put your beach towel on it. we had swim-up Suites and the rooms are certainly beautiful however please note the way there resorts sets the Sun never gets directly over the yeast units which are the ones closest to the buffet. The lazy river is great. I would definitely come back to this property and I definitely would use cheap Caribbean again. I had no issues with either. I found a lot of value for the money. Enjoy your stay in Jamaica.

Wonderful Trip

BEAUTIFUL hotel. Spectacular views. Resort grounds are phenomenal. Thoroughly enjoyed out anniversary time in Jamaica. Few minor cons.... restaurants ran out of food items quite frequently. AC went out in our room on the last night. Pros..... cleanliness. The pool area was our favorite spot. Lots of activites food drinks and the beach all in one. Lots of different restaurant's to choose from. Entertainment was ok. If you like shows and that kind of thing. Room was top notch. Room cleaned twice a day. Turn down service with chocolates on your pillow at night. Would definitely come back.
