We visited Royalton Antigua December 31 to January 7 with another group. The experience overall was ok.The New Years entertainment was decent. Food was definitely not the highlight. Not much of a variety, repetitive and boring. The buffet was same food every day. Breakfast, they would run out of eggs by the end of service. Two people in our group got violently sick after eating at the steak house. The entertainment aside from new years was blah, quick 30 minute performances and all dead by 10:30pm. Beach is by far the best part of the resort. The island itself is breathtaking. We did a 360 circumnavigation tour and it was worth every penny! Swam with stingrays, snorkeling with turtles and visited some historic sites and beaches. Now the part I really came here to write this review! The staff was overwhelmingly unfriendly!!! However just like in any place there are always the people who stand out. Lesa, server at the breakfast/ lunch area by the water, always a great smile amazing conversation and positive vibes. Her service outpaced her peers by a mile!!! Anya, bartender at the diamond club -kind knowledgeable, humble and just a pure soul!! Casper(?) server at the diamond club. A true legend. Happy, outgoing and always there to make your day special!

Update after 3 nights here: Our first night at the restaurant we had a reservation at 730, we sat at 8 and by 9 we left to go eat at the buffet because we have two children who were really hungry by then At most restaurants à la carte, waiters aren’t the nicest. A lot of the staff are nice however there are also many that aren’t. I think it isn’t a hotel where we feel welcomed. I would not pay for the Diamond club I don’t think it’s necessary. I can see why people are complaining about the hotel. People pay a lot and there are other places probably worth that amount of money but this place isn’t worth it. We came here with no expectations because of the reviews … and I am glad we set them low. We are not really the all inclusive type but we did a decent amount of them to know that probably with a little more courtesy and services, the hotel could go farther.

Jan 24, 2026A great resort - don’t believe all the negative reviews
This is a great resort - my daughter and I have just enjoyed a really lovely week here. We were worried about the mixed reviews before we arrived however the staff were lovely, the food was great and the beach is stunning The buffet was excellent, lots of selection and always plenty of salads, fruit etc, as was the Steakhouse, the Italian and Caribbean restaurants were atmospheric but food was average. Bars were good and there is a great selection of branded spirits and the included wine was ok too. The coffee shop was amazing as were all the lovely ladies who worked in it who went above and beyond to be helpful. The Fitness Centre was great and we loved the early morning classes - a special shout out to Lady J and Mr Awesome - both fantastic instructors. Our only complaint was that the rooms (which were otherwise lovely) were very poorly soundproofed- we had an interconnecting room and the noise from our neighbours was very loud - felt like they were in the same room!!! We would def return to this resort and our experience was not at all as other negative reviews describe.

Lovely holiday
Was really concerned about the negative reviews but we had a great week. Hotel was lovely, the staff incredibly polite and restaurants very good. I celebrated my birthday when I was there and was not disappointed - yes check in was slow and some of the restaurants were a little slow but that suited us . Went on a couple of trips and had a really fun time - rooms a little tired but overall thought it was great value for money.
