Calm and quiet

First, Grace bay is absolutely a beautiful beach. If all you want to do is sit out in the sun every day then Royal West Indies is a great place for that. Being in the low season meant a very quiet resort whose grounds are very well maintained. I don't believe there were more than a dozen other couples there. We were there Oct 14-19 and placed in 213 which was a ground floor studio with kitchenette only. Housekeeping was spotty; some days no hand towels, others no wash cloths. Floor tiles needed to be mopped clean. No central A/C (wall unit only in living area) and no bathroom ventilation. Get out of the shower and start sweating. Coffee maker really old and warmer plate so corroded it would not keep warm. Toaster again so old one side with broken springs and would not pop up. No other complaints about the room. Tap water, although safe to drink, is horrible. Bought a lot of bottled water at $8 for 28 pack. Restaurant at the resort ok. Wait staff on island time but no surprises there. Pricey, just like everything thing else. Overall the resort itself was really very nice, just some of the disappointments with our studio. Other guests were very friendly and nice conversations. Would recommend if you're going to Turks and prefer a nice basic stay.

Well worth the money

My family and I tend to prefer smaller, more personal resorts than huge ones where you kind of get lost in the crowd. Royal West Indies fits that bill perfectly by providing everything we wanted in a vacation without sacrificing anything. The grounds, beach, pools and bar/restaurant were beautifully maintained and the room was comfortable and more than accommodating (kitchen, washing machine, balcony facing the ocean). The staff couldn't be more welcoming and friendly and willing to help you with anything you might need. There's happy hour drink prices everyday and live music most nights. The only drawback is that there is only one restaurant and while the food was good, it was a little expensive (island prices + resort). They did try to change things up and have different themes nightly: (i.e. Caribbean BBQ, Fish Fry, Jerk Fiesta, Surf and Turf)... But it would be very expensive to eat all your meals there. Luckily, the resort is a short walk away (15 minutes) from a supermarket where you can buy food to make quick meals in the room. [What we did was buy breakfast and lunch foods from the supermarket, have them in the room, and then eat out dinner every night! Saved a fortune and still got to enjoy plenty of local cuisine]. There are also plenty of other restaurants a short walk away for variety. I highly recommend: Jack's Fountain, Sobana at the Ocean Club West, Bella Luna (pizza) and Crack Pot Kitchen. But the best part by far is the quick and easy access to the most beautiful beach I've ever been to. Not to mention you are also a quick walk (or cab ride for non-walkers) to plenty of shops, malls, and food stands nearby (make sure to get Beef Patties from the Patty Place and custom donuts from Turkberry!) All in all, we loved Royal West Indies resort and highly recommend it for those who prefer a smaller, more intimate experience rather than a huge resort with lots of amenities but little personality.

Great non inclusive option!!

I love this resort!! I’ve been there 3 times. The grounds are impeccably maintained and the beach is perfect. Take a cheap pool float with you, you’ll wish you had it!!! Even the cheapest rooms have a kitchenette so you can cook some meals in the room and not have to eat every meal out. They only have one restaurant, it’s good but I only gave it three stars because there are so many good restaurants on the island. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Every employee that I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back to this resort.

Beautiful!

We had such a great time! The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and the beach was amazing and not very crowded so you always had a place to sit. I would definitely recommend an ocean view room. It is worth the extra cost! We would defiantly go back.

What's to Love

Grace Bay Beach is the real star at Royal West Indies Resort in the Turks and Caicos. The complimentary bicycles and ocean kayaks make family fun easy!

What We'd Change

With only one restaurant, dining choices feel limited. Pelican Bay's eclectic menu offers so many choices, though, it's like a different restaurant every night.

Why You Should Go

The resort offers kitchenettes and even full kitchens in select rooms, so families with an eye on the budget can enjoy paradise without breaking the bank.

Hotel Description

Royal West Indies Resort: Paradise Abound

For your Caribbean home away from home, check into the Royal West Indies Resort in the Turks and Caicos, complimentary welcome drink in hand. Sitting on what many call the best beach in the world, Grace Bay Beach, this delightful resort features condo-style accommodations with family-friendly hotel amenities.

Chill out at 1 of 2 free-form pools, reminiscent of a hidden tropical swimming hole, surrounded by thick foliage and shrubbery. For more relaxation, claim your spot in the spa tub in the adult pool. Or, stroll on down to Grace Bay Beach where 12 miles of soft, white sand overlooking serene waters offers the perfect afternoon of sun and surf. Your inner child will thank you if you throw off adult decorum for a while and go all out in the ocean with the complimentary Hobie Cats, kayaks or snorkeling gear.

When you are wonderfully exhausted head over to Pelican Bay Restaurant and let a delicious bowl of conch chowder revive you. This unique restaurant features both air-conditioned seating and an open-air terrace where the smell of grilled fish gently wafts on the ocean breeze. Evenings bring live music and special events for a bit of festivity.

For the ultimate vacation pampering, we recommend a treatment or 2 at Spa Tropique. The full-service spa is available for a wide range of indulgences, including the popular Strawberrilicious Hydro Boost Mask. Perhaps the best indulgence at the Royal West Indies Resort, though, is the opportunity to do nothing but sit on your private balcony, drinking coffee and watching the colors of the sun dance across the still waters. Along with those private spaces, all guest rooms at the resort have mini kitchens, washers and dryers and flat-screen TVs.

Because it sits right in the middle of Grace Bay, the resort is a great base for exploring the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands. Let the friendly staff help you book a snorkeling or fishing trip. Or, if you want an underworld adventure without the water, spend a day exploring the Middle Caicos Caves, where Mother Nature has used limestone to create incredible, natural beauty.

This hotel is NOT all-inclusive. All food and drinks must be purchased separately.
Unless otherwise specified, all services are available for an additional charge.
