GOOD GOOD VERY GOOD

The hotel is very beautiful- sort of old Hollywood charm. But it is old)) our room felt like a motel, smell, some appliances weren't working) but you don't plan to stay in the room, right?- the buffet was more than fair! steak house was great also! french restaurant and sushi- well, more stylish than tasty)) Staff was very friendly, drink are everywhere, including our room. The beach was awesome- and that a main for us! the conclusion: we went home happy..perhaps will return!

Satisfied guest

The RIU Vallarta resort was a very good value and pleasurable vacation. All interactions with resort, transport, and excursion employees were positive. All employees seemed happy to be there and to provide services for our group.

Bad experience

I have stayed at other riu hotels and it’s not a 5 star hotel but it’s ok. The first 3 days of my visit there was some construction work going on , they started early in the morning and didn’t end until around 5 or 6 very unpleasant I had to ask for another room, which I got but then it was not cleaned for 2 days because no one knew we were there. The food was horrible it’s never really good at the riu chain of hotels but this was really bad. We even tried all of the specialty restaurants and they were poor quality food as well. We tried the steak house at the flamingo and left when the steaks came out they were horrible, couldn’t even cut into them. The activities around the pool were the same thing everyday, they should really put some thought into the activities. The adult pool always had a lot of kids in the pool I’m on vacation I don’t want to listen to screaming kids, especially when there is a kids pool. The best part of this trip was the shows at night. However I have had my fill of the riu chain I will never go back to this chain of hotels again.

Fun trip but my stuff is missing

Had a great trip and fun hotel but my wife’s clothes and my debit card were stolen from our room . Doors were locked but they are in and out of the room cleaning and turning down. Have stayed at the Riu 4 times now with our family (21 total) . Nothing like you personal possession s stolen from your room to mess up a good trip.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The resort's Art Deco architecture hugged by epic palms that rises up from the sandsational beach.

The liquor dispensers in the rooms. It's a party. Just add people.

The stress-ousting treatments at the world-class, delicious spa. Unplug and unwind.

RiuLand - supervised fun for the little ones while you savor that beachtastic drink by the teal waves.

Teeing off at the 18-hole, championship golf course that's right next door.

The RiuFit program that includes backfit, aquagym, stretching and bums-legs-tums.

Dancing the night away at the Pacha nightclub - get ready for some head-sweatin'.

What We'd Change

Downtown Puerto Vallarta's shopping and nightlife are quite a drive, but Nuevo Vallarta marina is a closer alternative that's just as much fun.

Why You Should Go

The airport is a mere 15 minutes from the airport so you'll be on that sweet beach lickety split.

Be sure to visit Cuale Island, a shady and tranquil oasis, to shop for crafty, cool souvenirs.

Banderas Bay is brimming with animal fun: see the release of sea turtles & swim with dolphins.

Get up early to snag a beach lounger. They go fast.

You can go horseback riding in the Sierra Madres, a bucket-list-worthy thing to do.

If you're more adventurous, there's bungee jumping. Hang on!

There are oceans of water sports: bodyboarding, kayaking, windsurfing and more. Take the plunge.
