    Great value!

Seamless check in. Great friendly staff. Lots of selection at buffets. Room was spotless. Beach pristine snd clean. Drinks were ok and room is not luxurious but size is great and cleanliness too. Many swimming pools and activities. I would return.

Our go to resort in Playa Del Carmen

I want to preface my review by saying we love this resort. People are friendly, food is good. This is our third time here. But…I noticed that when people are incredibly drunk, it takes them a long time to get them out of the pool bar. I think security needs to be on hand as some people are drunk by 1pm. On more than one occasion we were witness to this and it ruins other people’s fun. The “no saving sun beds” rule is also not enforced. We’re here at the resort right now and there is a group of six that save 6 beds at the front row of the pool bar but are all at another pool using 6 beds. And it’s been everyday. It’s not fair to other guests. Smoking areas are also not enforced which is disappointing. Other than those things, we really like it here but I do feel these issues should be addressed for the enjoyment of all guests.

    Average stay overall

This hotel seems to cater more to an older crowd, so it may not be ideal if you’re looking for a more upbeat or activity-filled experience. The entertainment was fairly decent, and the food was also enjoyable overall. However, our room had an issue with gnats flying around, which was disappointing. Service was average — about a 6 out of 10. There wasn’t much to do on the property, so this is better suited for guests wanting a quiet, low-key stay rather than lots of activities. Also be mindful and ready for animals running around.

    Escape the Cold

We had a week's vacation. An ordinary vacation, an ordinary hotel. Clean, tasty food, a good beach, wonderful staff. Nothing unusual. The White party was somewhat disappointing, with a cacophony of deafeningly loud music.

Fun hotel with so much entertainment

We had a fabulous 2 weeks here jan/feb 2026. This is a great location for trips out to see shows, history and wildlife. The hotel is clean, safe and friendly. They do hold the RIU Party nights here once a week, so that can be a bit loud and busy but if that's not your thing you can go to the other hotels nearby for a quieter night, but we found them fun to sit back and watch. The entertainment team are the best ever and we've been to a few Riu hotels and this group never stopped and were so much fun - we loved the games in the day - the fabulous Mexican fair games and then they were also excellent in the shows in the evening - something I'm not always keen on at some hotels but these were very good shows here. We had fun winning some of the games and getting prizes too (often gave them away to the little kids playing) Our room was always cleaned and very comfortable, not too noisy but due to the way they are built you couldn't avoid hearing people coming and going, but not too bad. They come down quickly on any misbehaviour in the pools - or anyone smoking anywhere except the smoking areas - which as a non smoker I loved the fresh air! Anyone too drunk in the adult swim up pool was made to get out and sober up - a fun game to watch, but for their own safety too. Food - good quality enjoyed all the specialist restaurants too - especially the Mexican and the Steak one. I do however bring this up at every RIU that the labels aren't always telling me all the foods and so being Wheat free and Milk free I can't always eat things that there are no labels for, not a big issue, but could be improved especially at the desserts and the oriental starters. We went on some fabulous trips to see Kobu and Sian Khan as well as the Cirque to Solei Only thing I think could improve this is a quieter bar area away from the main area as it's a Busy hotel so often just basic Noise but it didn't spoil our fun - the Mexican restaurant was often much quieter so that was nice to feel a bit less busy. In short - yes I will come again :)
