  No complaints whatsoever great holiday and will return

  We have just returned from the RIU Tequila and have had one of the best holidays ever. I had previously stayed at the grand riviera princess and moon place and this hotel compared was great value and quality and we would go back. It’s a good hour coach trip from the airport but worth it to stay in playa car/ playa del carmen, I preferred it to Cancun. Playa car is a gated community and feels very safe it has hotels and private villas and you can walk all the way to playa del carmen about 35 mins along the road or you can go most of the way along the beach. Playa del carmen is great to walk around for shopping and food/bars. The taxi from the hotel is $150 MX the hotel itself is big, the lobby area is huge with a huge outdoor stage area and bars. The hotel hosts the RIU party every Friday where guests from the other RIU hotels join. The good was great, no complaints at all, my partner is a fussy eater and always found something he liked there is a massive variety, the Al a carte restaurants you don’t have to book we only did the Italian which was ok but I preferred the pasta dishes in the buffet. Lunchtime we ate at the other hotels beach buffet and the bbq buffet by the pool all of which was lovely. Drinks are great, you can ask for branded alcohol and off the menu cocktails and the bar staff are great. The pools are clean and have one for chilling and swimming, adults only pool bar and a activity pool plus another family pool and a kids splash pool. The rooms are big and spacious, there is a stocked fridges and mini bar, you get 2 double beds together so for a couple loads of room, it would be ok for a family with young kids but not older kids you would need 2 rooms, the beach is stunning, beds do get full even though there are hundreds. You can use the other hotels pool and bars and Buffet down there as the walk from the tequila is a bout 10 mins under a shaded walkway or you can get the golf cart, we travelled as a couple and would like to go back with our kids one day as they would love it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, friends groups , couples , solos or families it has something for everyone they always give something on I did yoga every morning and my partner did beach volleyball, water polo we joined in with day parties and games too

  Terrivle experience. Sick and treated poorly on the last day. NO SERVICE.on beach.after 12 pm

  I have been to 4 resorts in the area and I will not come back here again. This is advertised as having access to the Rui Yucatan and Rui PlayaCar. We are beach people. This was a 5 day trip booked wuth Sumwing. We arrived late on Wednesday night and our pick up on Monday was close to 5 pm on the 5th day. We booked the trip for our anniversary. I was sick most days, but would not have left a bad review about that because I am tough. We checked out of our room at 10 am, they cut our bracelets and were given a piece of paper and told we could eat and drink with that. No caveats were mentionned. Once we ordered drink at the pool bar at the Yucatan we were told we could only get service ar the Tequila (which is not on the beach). That policy has cost the resort any future buisnes from us, as it was misinformation that we had access to the sister resorts for the duration of our stay. Only book at Rui Tequila if you like the pool and a sick stomach.

  Amazing hotel!

  Where to start.. The hotel its self was perfect I couldn’t fault it and the stay I had. The room were very spacious and the beds super comfy and we even had alcoholic optics in the room with a full stocked fridge which was updated every day if needed. Download the RIU app on your phone to ask for anything you need and they sort it out as soon as they can! Bar areas were good, pools were big and fun. Entertainment team worked so hard through the day and were very engaging an willing to chat. Drinks were very strong if your into your alcohol and made really nice too. The sports bar was fantastic too as it’s open 24.7 and they also have snacks available all day at the back. The bar staff in there were fantastic so props to them all! Always made sure we had a drink in front of us. Lots to get involved with in the evenings including party once a week (either a neon party or an all white party) where all the RIU hotels come together. Beach is a short walk away or if you wait someone will transport you every few minutes to and from. If you are a beach person do your research depending the month you want to go about sargassum (dead coral washing up on shore) I went in end of September and it was still there but clearing up so if you want to miss that best to go maybe November-April I got told. Other than that it’s perfect! Be careful booking trips in the centre too, do research about prices as not always the first person who approaches you has the best price. Can’t wait to return one day here!

  Definitely not a five star hotel

  Definitely not a 5 star hotel. If your looking for a chilled holiday this is not the hotel for you.. this is the party hotel we’re every Friday 2 and half thousand people from other hotels c one for a party. The bed sheets didn’t get changed in the 10 days we were there and neither did the floor get brushed or mopped. We purposely left things around which was never moved in 10 days. Don’t think I would go to another Rui hotel again.
