Tropical scenery
Hotel is kept immaculate. Rooms cleaned daily & were done to a good standard. Sometimes needed to request extra water. Grounds are absolutely beautiful. Out of the three hotels, the tequila is far more tropical. Groundsmen work very hard to maintain & is a shame when some people will leave empty cups/glasses strewn around. Extremely large variety of food, but quality not alway of a great standard. We visited the Bamboo and was quite disappointed. The Italian was really nice though. We spent most of our lunch visits at the beach club. Food was very nice there, but this was the only restaurant that we felt slightly uncomfortable at. Everyone had plastic glasses & served themselves. Mexican families got table service and real glasses! We then spent our lunch times at the playacar buffet, which was lovely. The walkway to the beach is shaded by beautiful trees & the beach is absolutely lovely. Plenty of sun beds and again like the grounds, immaculate. This was our second visit and would return again for the beauty, animals, birds and beach.

Don’t let the brits put you off
The bad first. The swim up pool full of brits be having badly! Some go so drunk they needed taking back to their room in a wheelchair. Every day the pool was closed at some point to clean the vomit which was like an oil slick. The staff are very patient. We avoided the swim up pool and only had a couple of occasions when drunken people came in to ours and was sick in beakers in the side! Thank heavens for small mercy’s! The good and there are lots. The complex is paradise. Staff amazing Food best we have ever had. Entertainment brilliant. So much to do. The beach is a tranquil walk and stunning. Wildlife in abundance. We will be back next year. Mexican people are lovely

Amazing time in a great safe resort
We went to Tequilla resort between 22nd August and 5th September after it coming highly recommended by family who'd visited before. Here's our family review, based on myself, my husband and 15 year old daughter who all had the pleasure of visiting. Area / grounds : We felt really safe within the complex as the hotel was set within an secure area that included other hotels and private and rented villas plus the added bonus of a selection of shops and small independent market style stalls literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel (opposite another Riu hotel Playacar). The area was immaculately kept, the hotel itself even more so, staff never stopped with the upkeep and kept standards very high. Hotel : There was lots of animals in hotel grounds including Coaties, Sereques, Iguanas and a variety of birds.... we particularly loved this! Rooms were spacious and again, immaculately cleaned - standards were very high. Bathroom setup was a little odd, no door on bathroom with exception to the toilet - fine if you're not sharing the room with a teenage girl who kept getting dressed in the toilet away from Mum and Dad for some privacy! Pools were o.k but because of a lack of flowing water got so very warm by the afternoon so provided little relief to the heat 🥵 however we never had any issues getting sunbeds and there was plenty of shade and umbrellas too. There was a pool service for drinks too. The hotel is not on the beach but a large golf type buggy seating around 7/8 people was up and down the covered walkway every 10 minutes or so or the walk was roughly 5/10 minutes to walk there.... you could use Yucatans (another Rui hotels facilities like dining hall and pool bar) whilst there. Plenty of shade from palm trees, no umbrellas but plenty of sunbeds again and shade could be found. The sea was glorious, not lots of fish that surprised and disappointed us at the same time and during our stay the seaweed situation wasn't bad enough to bother us at all and certainly didn't stop us going in the sea. Restaurants : Food was great, plenty of variety, we loved the speciality restaurants in particular the Asian/Chinese restaurant, Guillermo quickly became one of our favoured waiters although all of the staff were excellent in every area, there was never a day where we didn't get friendly Holas and Buenas Dias's from everyone from the cleaners, gardeners or admin staff to name just a few this was very much the case in all the eateries too. Transfers : We booked our private transfers through Mozio - less than half the price than Tui (ironically who Tui use so goes to show their mark-ups!!) Went exceptionally smooth and efficient - large and comfortable air conditioned vehicles. Trips : We ended up using Tui and booked trips through the app directly.. we found booking privately was great if you were in a group so could make an entire trip group up but we were just a family of 3 so it proved better to book for us through them. We did the Cenote and Turtle trip - amazing, my husbands an avid caver so this was great for him and we saw beautiful turtles in their proper habitat. We also did the Cozumel snorkellling tour and this was the best trip we have ever done- amazing, we swam with both starfish and Mantarays - stunning and highly recommended. We booked Coco Bongo with the reps around the pool for the family friendly Sunset Party - it was again great and highly recommended. Entertainment : The team work very hard throughout the day and at night, the set shows were not our thing to be honest certain aspects were o.k but overall just not our thing. The set weekly events, the Riu Parties were however excellent.. daytime ones being the Coconut & Foam Party nighttime ones the White and Neon Party, we were exhausted when we arrived to experience the White Party but had a great time the week after at the Neon one - lots of rum, tequilla and dancing- it was hot sweaty and really brilliant even for us re-living our 90s youth!! 🤣🤣 Riu App - upload app as useful for requesting towels and very importantly getting your mini bars refreshed ! All in all we will definitely return as we felt very comfortable and at home here 😊

Amazing stay brilliant hotel! Florencio and Roger were great!
We went to RIU tequilla for our honeymoon for 10 nights. The hotel was massive, food was lovely, staff were amazing. This is one of the best holidays I've had. All inclusive was brilliant. Food was fresh and there was so much variation. The main restaurant had everything. The Italian was good and steak house were our favourite. The drinks were good. Service from Florencio and Roger was top. The staff cannot do enough for you. Spent alot of time in the pool bar relaxing. This place is brilliant and you could go and not leave it has everything needed for total relaxation. I could go on forever about the hotel and holiday. We will be coming back here.

Absolutely recommend.
Me, my partner and a bunch of others stayed at the Tequila for 14 days and it was amazing. Every single staff member we came across was helpful, warm and was happy to be there. There are a few pools with an abundance of loungers so no 6AM sun lounger wars needed. Towels are provided by the hotel as is standard from RIU. One brilliant perk is being able to go to the other RIU hotels in the area (Yucatan and Playacar) to grab some food or just explore. The food was brilliant with the staples like pizza/fries/burgers but also themes nights like mexican, oriental etc. I absolutely cannot complain about the food, with staff being so attentive and ready to help. The hotel is not beach front, however it has it's own little strip you can use to walk down to the beach and beach restaurant which will take 10 mins tops. There is also a buggy service that will take you back and forth pretty much all day if needed. The gym opens at 7am, it's not huge but will do the job. The sports bar was the coolest (temperature) place to be, and the staff will put on pretty much any sport they can. They also allowed me to cast my phone screen to a TV to watch a match which was great. The whole area is very safe, with the whole road of hotels and properties being protected with barrier/police/security. Even stepping out of that, you felt safe with lots of options in the main town. Shopping malls, great restaurants and experiences are all available within an hour's walk or a short taxi ride. There is also a Walmart within that distance should it be needed. The stay was brilliant, the grounds are gorgeous and the staff were amazing. I would absolutely recommend Riu Tequila.
