    Totally disappointed

    Resort: lawns, trees, flowers very well maintained, excellent. Food: terrible, always same day after day. BUFFET: covered with flies. Service: TERRIBLE, servers ignoring customers, lazy, even sometimes had to clear our own table loaded with dirty dishes, get our own coffees, had to wait long time to be served. Breverage drinks no ice in our glasses, rimmed with sugar instead of salt…. RECEPTION: very good service. Been travelling to more than 15 resorts. Overall: Will never go back to this resort and will never refer that resort RIU Republica in Punta Cana

    Overbooked, Lacked customer service, poor compensation, poor resolution

    They only want to give me 1,000 POINTS for the inconveniences below during my first time ever in the DR and at a RIU establishment. I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service and accommodation inconsistencies experienced during my stay at RIU Republica from Saturday, October 25, 2025, to Wednesday, October 29, 2025. This trip was booked in December of 2024 through a travel agent associated with FunJet and was intended to celebrate several significant milestones: my parents' 30th wedding anniversary, my 30th birthday, my father’s 75th birthday, and my mother’s 65th birthday. Upon arrival at approximately 3:30 PM on October 25, 2025, with a party of twenty-one (21) guests, I was informed that the two ocean-view suites I had reserved and paid for were not available. This initiated a series of unacceptable events, which I outline below: Initial Accommodation Issues • Upon arrival at approximately 3:30 PM on October 25, 2025, with a party of twenty-one (21) guests, I was informed that the two ocean-view suites I had reserved and paid for were not available. • Temporary Room Assignments: We were offered temporary regular ocean-view rooms without a refund, a proposition I found inadequate considering the circumstances and the incorrect rooms that were provided. • Extended Wait Times: The process of securing even these temporary accommodations took nearly four hours, causing significant inconvenience and delaying our ability to enjoy the resort. Security Breach and Privacy Violation • Compromised Room Security: The first set of temporary rooms assigned (4058 and 4117) presented a serious security issue. Upon attempting to enter room 4117, my key opened the door to find that the room was already occupied with another guest's belongings. This raised significant concerns about the resort's security protocols and the safety of my personal items. • Privacy Violation: Later, after being assigned rooms 4088 and 4100, and while I was showering, another guest was given a key to my room and entered while I was undressed. This incident was a severe breach of privacy and personal security, leaving me feeling unsafe and extremely uncomfortable. Additional Inconveniences and Service Deficiencies • Incorrect Room Type: The temporary rooms provided (4088 and 4100) did not have the ocean view as promised by Navarro. The FIRST set of rooms that I receive were rooms 4058 and 4117 and were assigned those rooms around ~5:30pm/6pm.  . We finally got to room 4117, and as soon as I opened the door I saw jackets hanging in the closet and suite cases in the room. Yes, my key worked to open room 4117 while someone else’s luggage was in there. My security was compromised in this moment. I no longer felt safe. • Substandard Amenities: The rooms lacked basic amenities such as face towels. Additionally, the telephone was non-functional, rendering it impossible to contact the front desk for assistance. No dial tone or anything. • Late-Night Lockout: Upon returning to my room around 2:00 AM, my key no longer worked, requiring another trip to the front desk to resolve the issue. • Incorrect Room Registration: When we requested WiFi information, the provided details were registered to a different guest, indicating a mix-up in the room assignments and personal data. • Spa Appointment Cancellation: I pre-booked a spa appointment well in advance. I was told that my 90-minute massage and 90-minute facial at 11am was pushed back to 3pm, due to understaffing. Had I not walked to the spa to advocate for myself, I would not have gotten the 1pm appointment. Why allow me to book in advance, if you could not accommodate the services when scheduled? • Promise of Resolution Unfulfilled: The next day, despite assurances from Navarro and Manager Victor Catillo that the correct suites would be ready by the time I returned from an excursion, the rooms were not available until the evening. Also, the front desk expected my parents, best friend, and I to bring all of our luggage down to the front desk while they figured out our Suite situation. That was unacceptable. They messed up our rooms and wanted us to be room less until they figured it out. Room service kept knocking on my parents’ door to see if they had left. Had we left the temporary rooms at check out time, we would not have had a room until about 5pm that evening. • The only compensation for this was that the resort offered a 25-minute massage; which was of no use to me, since I already booked another for 90 minutes prior to arrival. In addition, they said they would accommodate my party of 21 at the QUISQEYA Steak house, which I had planned to arrange any way. • I am traumatized by my experience here overall; especially because the front desk can just give anyone access to my room. I had to sleep with an ironing board pressed against the door of the room to allow myself to fall asleep without high anxiety of someone walking in on me while asleep. ( I can provide a photo). Request for Refund Given these egregious failures in service and security, I request a full refund for the cost of the two suites for the night of October 25, 2025, bare minimum, in addition to the night of Sunday, October 26, 2025 for the delay in providing 2 suites that  were booked December 2024. The series of errors, security breaches, and overall mismanagement significantly detracted from what was meant to be a celebratory and enjoyable vacation. In total, I would like a refund for the cost of 2 Ocean View Suites for 2 nights.

    Roberto at Buffet excellent, see him for all your needs. Cigars on beach buy fron Christan ONLY, tell him Alan sent you. Everything was great as usually 4th visit.

    Awful!

    No hot water for 3 days so far and they cant provide a new room because its full. AC Leaks all over the floor. phone service in whoke resort is out. This was our 2nd time here. 1st time was not great but we thought we’d give it another shot. Never again

    The resort is absolutely gorgeous the grounds are kept up very well! The design of the resort is top notch. Pros: Activities are good RIU party was everything Check in and check out was smooth Front desk customer service was excellent Cons: Food is NASTY Rooms are outdated If you don’t speak Spanish they usually ignore you Mesquitos everywhere bring spray Special restaurants are hard to get in
