  A fantastic holiday and fantastic staff

  We stayed for two weeks and must say that this was best hotel in all the years travelling around the world. The hotel is very big but easily navigable. From the reception to rooms, restaurants, pools and beach only short walk. The main buffet restaurant had a very large choice of excellent food so we dined every evening as it suited our tastes. There was a wide choice of liquors including all of the top brands. Also a good choice of draught and bottled beers on offer. The staff were absolutely amazing including reception, bar staff, cleaning staff, waiters and ground maintenance. All the staff were polite, courteous, cheerful and hardworking. I must mention some staff personnel by name, I did have a list of names but mislaid it during return travel but hopefully can remember some. Antenor, Martyne, Isidroe, Nico, Leonardo, German, the waitress within the buffet restaurant who were very attentive to our requirements from entering to leaving. Also the waitresses within the entertainment area, reception and bar areas. Plenty of sun beds were available but my only gripe is that some guests were taking double sun beds by placing towels on one lot of beds and towels on others, sometimes taking up eight beds for four people. Managushiuld place signage around the poll areas stating that this practice is not acceptable. But all in all a fantastic holiday with the hardworking staff making it more enjoyable.   Decent in many areas, not great in general

  Average to above average in almost every single department. Beach is a standout as its beautiful and clean. Nightlife and entertainment almost non existent as average guest age here is very hight. If you are looking for peace and quiet that doesn't break the bank this is your place! We weren't.

  Lifeguards expecting a TIP for helping a bleeding guest

  This review is based solely on our experience with your life guard/medical staff. We stayed at your sister property but came to spend a day in your beautiful pools, until we had an emergency situation. One of our adult kids (18yr old), her toenail was accidentally pulled 3/4 the way off her toe, she was bleed profusely everywhere. We found 2 of your life guards for assistance. They proceeded to rip off her toenail completely, which was quite painful. They then cleaned & wrapped her toe. As we prepared to leave, they called out to the 2 moms in our group "Thanks for the Tip Mamacitas". The fact that your lifeguards thought they should receive a TIP for helping someone in need was extremely unprofessional. Would you have preferred to have a guest just bleed all over your white property? We had enjoyed your cool pools, a nice lunch, and genuinely considered coming back and staying at this resort over the Riu Palace Mexico where we were. But after this experience with your life guards and their genuine no care attitudes, nope.

  Great Hotel

  A group of 11 (ages 10–51) and we had an amazing stay! The staff can’t do enough for you. The buffet is incredible – hot, fresh, and with a huge choice. À la carte restaurants are good, though food isn’t always piping hot. Great cocktails, everything you need is available, and entertainment is excellent. Truly world-class!

  A wonderful first class family holiday!

  My family has been blown away by this resort. From the moment that we checked in until we checked out, everything has been simply wonderful. The friendliness of staff is amazing in all areas of the hotel and everyone wants to help you and make sure you have a good holiday. Of particular note are the Entertainment team - special mention to Joe who worked incredibly hard every day to make everyone happy. I’ve never seen so many people take part in aqua aerobics thanks to his high energy and positivity. Also, the likes of Ricky Bobby, Alberto, Elliud, Maidel, Angel, Dayana and Alexandra and co, all simply amazing, fun people who are a credit to the RIU family. The restaurant and bar team were also brilliant. Shout out to Roberto in the buffet restaurants and Darwin, Jose and German at the pool bar. Incredible service and always with a smile. I encourage everyone to engage with the staff as they are so lovely. Food at the buffet was delicious - morning, noon and evening. So much variety, fresh and plentiful. We also tried the Asian al a carte and the Steak House both of which were very tasty. We spent time in the lobby area at the bar and coffee shop and, again, everything was served to the highest of standards. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, there is air con in all the public indoor spaces and that makes such a huge difference. In terms of tipping it was never expected but the service was so great it was a pleasure to acknowledge the hard working RIU team. As an added bonus, if you are running low on tipping funds the reception team will change larger pesos notes for you so there’s no need to worry about that. The gym was always clean and provided a good workout space - it’s open early from 5am which was good for us as I’m an early riser and that gave me a chance to head down to the beach and watch the gorgeous sunrises most mornings. Make sure you take part in the various activities including - yoga (or Joe-ga!), fitness classes RIU FIT (TRX was fun!), aqua aerobics, pool games and bingo. Highlights for us as a family - observing whale sharks in the open ocean, Xplor, Senor Frogs (for my daughter’s bday - they made it so special for her!), jet skis and of course the Neon and White parties at RIU Tequila. On that note, as a Palace resident, we got to visit and use all of the RIU resorts nearby but the RPRM is simply the best. Thank you for helping us have a wonderful family holiday!
