Relaxing but hungry

Riu Palace was beautiful. The room, service, and beach were all great. But a big selling point to me is quality of food. Food at Riu Palace Punta Cana was sub par. I was very disappointed some nights at the restaurants and often left hungry. We had an amazing time but will look at other all inclusives next time.

The resort was beautiful. They remodeled which it looks better and more modern but they made the buffet smaller which means less options for dinner which is a con. Also the pool is smaller and they allow these big floats (which there is a sign that says no floats allowed) but none of the staff say anything. They sell the floats at the shops and blow them up there but the pool is smaller then the original and you have these huge floats that are now taking up more room. The staff needs to be more alert and more reprimanding of rules being broken. Also more diverse music needs to be played at the pool. We stayed over a week (10 days) and everyday the majority of the music was spanish. I understand we are in a spanish country but you have children and people from other places around the world so it should be more diverse. The room service started to get lazy towards the end of our stay. She started bringing less and less towels and just not completely doing the full job the longer our stay became. Our fridge wasn’t restocked. Our ac broke the last 2 days there and after calling 6 times in 2 days to have it fixed it still was not fixed. I’ve stayed at Rui plenty of times before but I was really disappointed towards the end of our stay ( which was 10 days).

Outstanding Service and Food

My husband and I just got back from our week long vacation last week and it was amazing!! I loved the hotel, it felt like I was staying in a palace. It was very nice, the lobby was awesome & the rooms, just the overall look of the hotel looked classy and upscale. The service was outstanding, our rooms stayed clean and fresh, they put rose petals on the bed and bathroom sink every day. On my birthday they left a card and a complimentary bottle of wine and also a coffee mug for me to take home. The waiters remembered us by name and had our table ready as we walked in, and kept our glasses full; the food was GLORIUOS!!! We tried the Italian & French restaurants, & the steakhouse, and the buffet for breakfast and lunch and it was always amazing! I loved the flavors, it tasted so fresh and well seasoned. We used the hotel driver to go into town, he dropped us off and came picked us up promptly. The pools and out doors areas were great also very relaxing and clean, but the only reason I gave 4 stars is because the beach had about 3 feet or so of seaweed and we couldn't really enjoy the water at the hotel because of it. But on the excursions we took we went to a much nicer beach and also a private island and both were amazing, so that's good. We enjoyed both pools, the music and dancing. I just really love taking beach vacations because of the fact that I can chill out in the nice Clear water, but I couldn't get over the seaweed, that was my only complaint, but everything else made up for it.
