Really let down. Heard so many good things.

Really let down with this place. Heard so many good things about he Riu brand. Rooms are disgusting and dirty. The pool and recreation areas are lackluster and the we are constantly harassed by the vendors on the beach. There are many other options in punta cana. We are officially done with the Riu line of resorts. I’m ready to leave now and we have another night here unfortunately.

not what I was expecting

this is not 5 star hotel and if they're claming to be they should stop. my room had plenty of mold and roaches. the waiting staff were on point. they work very hard and long hours. Don Manuel buffet had the best food in my opinion. the steak house is a mess that food sucks. not a bad place to stay if you like moldy smell and roaches

Wonderful Service - Can't Wait for Upgrades

We just spent 7 days and 6 nights here. It was amazing. The employees were wonderful, attentive, kind, helpful and really went out of their way to go above and beyond. We had a lot of fun with the daily shows and activities. I spent most of my time in the main pool lounging and reading. Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was great. We loved the variety of foods and the quality as well. The specialty restaurants, except The Bodega, were very good. The Italian restaurant's vegetarian lasagna was SOOOO good. When I ordered it, I had no idea it was vegetarian. Had a great meal there. Bodega was the rodizio restaurant. The meat was overcooked and dry. The room also had a moldy smell to it. Same moldy smell that was in the main room where they do the shows at night. I couldn't bear to sit in there. We had to sit outside to view the shows. We had the same issue with the moldy smell in the room. When we went to our first room, we could smell it from the hall. Once in the room, it was unbearable. We went to the front desk and they immediately gave us another room with no hassle or issue. It wasn't perfect and there was still this humid odor, but we decided to tough it out. I'm very happy to know that they are remodeling in 2018 because I would love to go again. The service and experience was great except for the old smell. We saw the remodeled sister hotels and they were quite perfect. We hope that all these issues are solved once they remodel all the rooms.
