Disappointed

The hotel was pretty and clean. Check in was quick and effortless. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds are maintained well and very attractive. But the restaurants were terrible. The buffet was the best part and only because you have so many options and can take small or large quantities of only what you want to eat. Plus you don’t need to wait on line there to get in. That to me was the worst part. You literally need to leave the beach or pool to go stand on line for 45-60 minutes to eat or make a reservation. Who wants to do that on vacation?!? And then when you do finally get in, the food is terrible. At ALL the restaurants. Even the steakhouse. The nightclub is another nightmare. After 6pm the outdoor bars close (so stupid!) and you’re only option is Calypsos. It’s fine until about 9pm when it starts blasting music and “tries” to turn itself into a club. I felt awful for all the old people there who had to endure it. And since it’s your only option, you’re stuck. I also don’t understand why the 2 pools are so hot. It was like a bathtub and not refreshing at all. I’m convinced the bar pool is used as a toilet by the people who spend all day there drinking and never leave. I’m not a fan of all inclusive for just these reasons. And While the drinks were tasty, they were very clearly watered down. I wouldn’t return and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Ok trip!

-resort is too small -needs a lobby bar -pool bar and bar by the pool close way to early -buffet food was the same everyday -needs better nighttime entertainment -the cafe/coffee bar is nice but it really should be a bar -maid service was excellent -having only the sports bar open after 6 is not convenient if you are outside past 6:00 -it’s not a vacation if it’s a hassle to get drinks

Not what we expected at all and NOT in a good way!

Although it was a nice getaway from cold weather, the overall experience of the Riu Palace Paradise Island was rather disappointing. We had read many mixed reviews, but because we had a fANTASTIC experience with the Riu Palace in Jamaica a year ago, we wanted to book another Riu property in another location, and expected the same results. This was not the case. The staff in Paradise Island was less than friendly, and very little personality compared to Jamaica where everybody was very friendly and inviting. We did have a few servers in the restaurants and one or two bartenders that were very friendly and sincere, the rest were acting like they were forced to be there and could care less and was a struggle to even get a smile from them. Our room was very disappointing. The entire time we were there we had a busted toilet, and even after daily requests, this was never fixed our entire 6 days. The balcony had a very scenic view, but my wife and I could not even have a conversation next to each other because there were four large fans on top the restaurants that run 24/7 and are VERY loud and can even hear them with the balcony door closed. The "KING" bed was two small beds put together and barely enough room for us to sleep in the same bed, and we're not big people. The beds were full of sand in the sheets and was like this before we got into bed. The couple we went with had a water issue in their room that had water coming out of the ceiling light and drenched their personal belongings over the sink and floor in the bathroom. The best part of the resort was the food, and the water on the beach! The water is crystal clear, and the food was fantastic. The beach itself is a public beach that had a lot of garbage in the sand, and constantly bothered by vendors selling things which was annoying. We would prefer a private beach of the resort where there's also drink service, as the bar is a little distance away and up the stairs. By the last day my wife and I along with another couple we went there with ,were all ready to leave. When we left the Riu in Jamaica we didn't want to leave as we had a blast and not a single issue. Not the case in Paradise Island, its upsetting to want to leave your vacation destination because it's not what you expected and overpaid for. We are not high maintenance people by any means, but we enjoy having drinks, loud music and having a lot of fun, but this is a location we will not spend money on again for our once per year vacation. For a location in the Caribbean, an outdoor bar would have been nice to have, but that bar close at 6pm. You can still sit out there at night, but no drink service. People in reviews said go to Atlantis next door...VERY expensive, and should not need to leave our resort we paid for to have a fun vacation. Overall, the weather was great, food was great, water was phenomenal, friendly service didn't really exist except for a few people, and the room was very poor at this resort. We WILL NOT book a trip to this location ever again.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Primo beachfront locale - three miles of satiny sand hugged by luscious, aquamarine water.

The Renova Spa - the massages squeeze the stress right out of your bod.

The rockin' theme nights twice a week - get ready to kick it. Put on your party pants.

Krystal Fusion Restaurant - it's a journey into the unexplored terrain of epic new sensations.

The unfailing, beachtastic service & attention. You'll feel like the beach royalty that you are.

Did we mention this resort has the only infinity pool in all of Nassau/Paradise Island?

What We'd Change

You may not find as many on-site activities like the other mega resorts, but the prime beachfront property makes up for it.

Why You Should Go

There's a hoppin', Vegas-style casino next door - grab sweet Lady Luck and try your hand.

The water sports (jet skis, water skiing & more) will blow you out of the water. Hang on!

You can dive into aahh-mazing excursions like swimming with the dolphins.

Atlantis next door has a great nightclub when you want to get your dance on.

The inventive entertainment staff is off-the-charts creative. They won't disappoint.

You're close to downtown Nassau - see the old quarter, museums, zoo and botanical gardens.

Hotel Description

Riu Palace Paradise Island (Adults-Only): All-Inclusive Bahamas Bonanza

Bahama Mama Mia does this Riu have it all. And then some. Let's start with the dreamy, three-mile stretch of silky sand, where you can chillax, get your drink on (and on - no one's counting) and ignore the world, or hit a game of beach volleyball and burn some calories. And that's just the tip of the beachberg. Toggle between the Jacuzzi at the epic infinity pool and indulge in stress-ousting treatments at the lush spa aka Relaxation Central, or hit the slots next door and hang at the always-festive, hip bars until the sea cows come home. Is that a "yes" we hear? When might we expect you?

It's Time to Get Your Riu On.
