Amazing!

We had an amazing vacation at the Riu Palace! From the moment we walked into the entrance of the resort we were greeted by kind, friendly staff and taken care of at every moment. Any question or request was answered promptly with a genuine, warm smile. The food was fresh and we really enjoyed having the option to dine at any of the three resorts. Most nights we chose the Steakhouse and ate lobster because it was cooked to perfection. The jerk chicken served straight from the grill throughout the day on the Riu Reggae beach was delicious. The bartenders remembered our drinks and would make us specialties based on what we liked. Actually, most of the staff remembered our names! It was like being treated like royalty. The facility was so clean and well organized there wasn’t a time of day where someone wasn’t sweeping sand, mopping, or straightening beach chairs. It was immaculately clean. We took the sunset cruise which was $60 per person, but it was completely worth it. The boat takes off from Reggae and Riu beaches and takes you for a four hour trip with drinks and 1.5 hrs of snorkeling, plus an hour long stop at Margareitaville where you can have a bite and enjoy the scenery or go to the strip to do some souvenir shopping. There are also water sports that can be rented for free like a small catamaran, SUPs, kayaks, and paddle boats. Every night there are entertainment shows, concerts, or dancing on the beach or stages. And if you prefer quiet it all stops at 11pm and there are parts of the resort (at the Palace) where you can relax and barely hear the music. After 7 days I was still not ready to return to reality. I would absolutely go back to the Riu Palace where the customer service is incredible and every day is paradise! Thank you for our incredible experience!

Not a WOW; not our best experience by a long shot

+ Beach was great. + Staff were very attentive (except in the central bar). + We caught cold/chest-infection while there and on-site nurse provided quick access to off-site physician. - Rooms were clean but poorly lit... (we moved as the first room was unacceptable). Water temperature in room shower was not consistent from second to second. No privacy in bathroom except for partial 'curtain privacy' in second room. - Cool-light LEDs throughout the facility (100% blue-light LEDS in the rooms) made it hard to see and always seem like night. Especially anywhere/anytime there was an absence of any natural light. - Lack of sound buffering in entire facility made everywhere sound like an echo chamber when guests of staff got the least bit loud (Central bar, dining areas, restaurants, lobby, etc.) Overall, for the money, an 'OK experience' at best. Go for the beach and the staff/service; not for the accommodations or the food. I wouldn't do this one again.

Our first Trip To Jamaica 4*

TO START OFF, THE HOTEL IS LITERALLY MINUTES FROM THE AIRPORT SO DONT EVEN BOTHER ADDING THE TRANSPORTATION OPTION BECAUSE YOULL PAY WAY LESS IF YOU TAKE A CAB. WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL WE WERE IMMEDIATELY GREETED WIHT A MIMOSA AND BAGS WERE PLACED TO THE SIDE. WE ARRIVED AT 1230 AND THEY LITERALLY MADE US WAIT TILL 3 TO CHECK IN. IN THE MEAN TIME WE HAD LUNCH AND GOT TO KNOW THE PLACE A LITTLE BETTER. THE BEACH IS AMAZING AND THE POOL/BAR WAS TOO. OUR FAVORITE BARTENDER WORKED AT THE TOP BEACH BAR (CANT RECALL HIS NAME)HE MADE THE STRONGEST DRINKS :), OUR FAVORITE WAITER WAS OSCAR! HE WAS THE MOST SWEETEST AND NICEST OVER AT THE STEAKHOUSE. OUT OF ALL THE ENTERTAINERS, OUR FAVORITE WAS CASH, HE IS HILARIOUS. THEY USUALLY HANG OUT BY THE BEACH BAR TILL 8PM (MOST FUN WE HAD). ALTHOUGH I ALREADY KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE I BOOKED I CANT HELP BUT TO WANT TO ADD THAT THIS PLACE WAS PACKED WITH OLDER PEOPLE. VERY QUIET SCENERY. THIS IS A SISTER HOTEL, SO THANK GOD WE HAD ACCESS TO THE OTHER HOTELS BECAUSE THATS WHERE WE HEADED AFTER 8P WHEN THE HOTEL TURNED INTO A FUNERAL (LOL). OUR ROOM: VERY CLEAN, HOEVER WE NOTICED OUR HOT TUB WASNT FUNCTIONING AND HAD TO GO TO THE FRONT DESK. THEY FOLLOWED UP WITH US BUT WE HONESTLY DIDNT BOTHER CHECKING AGAIN. FOOD: THE ONLY GOOD FOOD WE HAD WAS AT THE STEAKHOUSE/BAR. ALL THE RESTAURANTS WE BLAH. TWO OUT OF THE FOUR REQUIRE MEN TO WEAR LONG PANTS AND SLEEVES IN SHIRTS. DRINKS; WE TRIED MANY DRINKS AND ALTHOUGH SOME WERE STRONG THEY WERE VERY SWEET WHICH MESSED UP OUR STOMACHS A LITTLE, SO TOWARDS THE END OF OUR STAY WE STUCK TO RUM AND COKE. WE WILL DEFINITELY RE-VISET JAMAICA AGAIN. NOT SURE ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR HOTEL BUT DEFINITELY ONE LIKE IT WITH A LITTLE MORE DIVERSE CROWD AND ENTERTAINMENT. HOPE OUR REVIEW HELPS :)

Amazing Staff but LOUD airplaines

The staff at the RIU were amazing! The room was always clean and they were accommodating. The beach is beautiful but small and there is construction close. The restaurants don't take reservations and done have enough seats so we waited 90 min one night for dinner. The food was ok not great, however breakfast was pretty good. The room service menu is tiny and pathetic. My biggest complaint is the airplanes that fly over at least 20 times a day and are louder than being at the airport. Our travel agent was very misleading on this. This resort is directly on the flight path and is louder than being at the airport. Because of this I would not recommend this resort.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

It's surrounded by fringy palms and overlooks the luscious, soul-stirring aquamarine Mahoe Bay.

The Renova spa next door (@Riu Montego Bay) where you can kick your stress to the sandy curb.

The beach is protected by a reef so the water is calm & delicious for snorkeling and swimming.

The ocean breezes and crazy beautiful sunsets - it's more than Bucket List worthy.

World-class golf is near - soaking in the sun while you play a round is the best. Ever.

What We'd Change

For lunch, you can dine at either Montego Bay or Seaside, but if you're wanting more choices, you'll get to enjoy the restaurants and activities at the sister resort, Riu Montego Bay, which is next door.

Why You Should Go

The airport is just 1.7 miles away. Your rockin', adults-only vacay will begin lickety-split.

You can head over to the sister resort, Riu Montego Bay, for more places to get your grub on.

Saddle up and get ready - horseback riding is near. You have to do this.

Attention water babies: check out the catamarans, kayaking & windsurfing.

You can play a set (or two) of tennis or get in some beach volleyball. Game on.
