nice place
This is a great resort. It checked all my boxes. Lots of solid structure shade by the pool, and trees for shade on the beach. We always found a place to sit. Great restaurants with excellent service. We had requested a lower floor room on the Riu App before the trip, but that was denied. The room was excellent except for the window between the bedroom and bathroom. Great way to wake your spouse in the middle of the night! Always had hot water, and never ran out of drinking water. The entertainment was the usual. Only one show was really good - Rock Station. Wifi was ok except when we tried to play Bingo, which was cancelled several times. Most of the music by the pools was way too loud. it was impossible to talk to one another. Even if you were at another pool when the music was blasting, it was still loud. No napping by the Adults Only pool after 2:30! There should be ashtrays by the garbage cans. Smokers will use them instead of the ground or the garbage can if they are provided. Another thing I would like is a central help yourself coffee urn in the early morning. We have had this at other resorts and it is so nice not to have to trudge all the way to the Sports Bar in my PJ's and get the bartender to make 4 cups of coffee to fill my cup. Lots of kids there and many of them cranky and overtired - but that's the parents responsibility. All in all a very good resort, one that I may come back to.

Wonderful stay at the Riu palace bavaro
First time at a Riu resort. Everything was fantastic from the minute of arrival to our departure. Room (double queen garden view) was large and beautiful. Plenty of pools to choose from or the beach w lounge chairs. Restaurants were easy to go to for dinner even w/o reservations. The buffet was perfect for breakfast or lunch. Endless options to choose from. Lots of evening activities. Lobby bar, coffee shop and sports bar all open late. Every employee was friendly. Truly a fantastic trip. Can't beat the price and accommodations and location. Highly recommend.

Good hotel The rooms were clean and big. The food is average at best. He only variety is at the buffet Most of the food at the other restaurants are bland The beach was nice but had big rocks had to walk around and was tough to get a seat in the sun ( there are a lot of trees) unless you get down there early Most people were friendly but there is definitely a language barrier Be prepared to tip at every meal and at the bar Would recommend doing an excursion while you are visiting as there is not enough activities at the resort

Great property, middle ground for service and dining
Traveled with Friends and our Kids (ages 6-11). Kids loved the option to hit the water park. The property was gorgeous and beach was nice. Seaweed could use a fresh rake by the 6th day we were there but was otherwise clean. A few “vendors” unfortunately wander through your relaxation from time to time on the beach. Pools were well kept as was the rest of the property. Bartenders and servers were hit and miss. Some very kind with a smile while others seemed rude or barely a nod. I did think at least some more workers would be English fluent for better conversation but then again I don’t know much for Spanish either. Food was also middle ground. The options for meals were great but sometimes overcooked (steakhouse surf n turf) or just not prepared well. The RIU club parties were super fun, ages ranged anywhere from 20-50 years old. All in all I would go back but if you want the top tier treatment this wasn’t it which in itself is ok by me as that’s not what my main concern is. DR off resort is a bit sad in terms of garbage all over the side of the roads and such but I’m not factoring that into the resorts rating.
