Riu Aruba Antillas Honest Review
The first night we got our room and I booked a room with ocean view so I’m not expect it to be looking out at the ocean from the balcony. They put us in the back corner with barely any ocean view and mainly city view of the desert. Next the music was so loud from the disco room below until 11am at night. I didn’t sleep good for 2 nights due to music because I got to sleep around 8-9pm at night and requested a change of room and the correct room I booked. They promised me a room the next day and so we come down around 12-1pm to change the room and tells me there nothing left and need to wait another night. I got mad and demanded they put me in another one now and had to wait until 3 for the room to be ready after lying to me and going back and forth. They also told me that after the 1st night I complained about the loud music told me to wait until 11pm to nothing they can do. Once we changed rooms the view of the ocean was nicer but still a half view on pool side. The breakfast food at the buffet was ok and lunch and dinner at buffet was ok. Wasn’t really impressed. The 1st night we went down to book steakhouse around 8pm because front desk said between 6-9 they are open. No reservations available and next night went down around 6:30-7 and nothing available. The 3rd night stayed in line at 5:45 wait for 30 min to have a steakhouse table not until 8:30pm at night. If you want the steakhouse you have to get there at least 5:30 and first come first serve. This not fair to people who paid for the steakhouse and not available. The steakhouse reservation was at 8:30 and the steak was chewy and not good. All that waiting for nothing. The Arubian food place was ok also. We didn’t even try to go to Italian and other reatraunt and ended up eating at Italian restraunt on strip behind hotel called Giannis and was best food on entire trip. The beach is nice and had amazing weather the entire time. Just disappointed in the trip and should of been better. I tried to talk to front desk when I left of my experience and they just said sorry. Also the beach chairs on beach are first come first serve so get your towels and place them early like 6-8am or the seats get sold out easy. I felt like I paid for a 4-5 star hotel and got a 2-3 star hotel at the most. Riu please fix these so no one else has to experience this again.

Fabulous 50th Anniversary Experience
We stayed for our 50th wedding anniversary. Reserved the Elite package and it was worth every penny The Elite Concierge advised us upon check in she upgraded us to an oceanfront 1 bedroom suite, 2 balconies, and an incredible view! Room 701. Her name was Eesh (I think I spelled it correctly). Everything was fantastic, the food, decor, service all employees went above and beyond to ensure us we had a great time. Upgraded liquor in our mini bar, including Grey Goose vodka!! We were asked by customer service lady (unfortunately did not make note of her name) during breakfast our first morning, how everything was and my husband told her we prefer Grey Goose. Tito’s was in our mini bar, that was just fine. She apparently noticed our black wristbands, designating Elite Club guests. Her reply “I’ll see what I can do” was appreciated, but we really didn’t expect anything. Upon returning to our suite, 20 minute later, there was a bottle of Grey Goose already there. Unbelievable! We honestly never experienced such a level of service before, as we have stayed at many RIU Palace resorts, all very nice but this one just blew us away. From housekeeping (thank you Aloun for keeping our rom spotless), to all servers in the restaurants, all employees who passed by us throughout the property, greeting us with a warm smile, pool attendants, bartenders, Mary at the Elite Club pool, the sweet lady in the Elite restaurant, treated us with the utmost respect and attention. We cannot say enough how much we appreciated the attention to detail every single day. Every request was fulfilled, every question answered with a smile, this turned out to be a truly unforgettable trip. One we will never forget. Thank you RIU Palace Antilles for a wonderful 50th anniversary! We will definitely return.

Housekeeping was the worse
Everything else was great with the exception of the housekeepers. The front desk Davidson was helpful and probably one of the best employees at this resort. He always helped to solve our issues such as putting me and my sister in a king bed when I asked for double. Luiz at the pool bar was great and I can’t recall his name who served around the pool. Everyone was amazing. The housekeeping NOT so much. Everyday at 8PM after being out of the room most of the day sometimes going in to change and leaving. Crazy part is our room was across from the room where they stored their items. Our room didn’t get cleaned without us calling for assistance! That was horrible. We couldn’t get in the steakhouse! The one night we did get in the food was really good! Breakfast was good and I was going to give 3 stars but everything else was nice besides the housekeepers. Not to mention we could hear them in the morning waking us up yet didn’t clean our room not one day without being asked

60th Birthday Bash‼️
I ALWAYS read reviews before booking anything. I knew there were mixed reviews but we wanted to go to Aruba, wanted an all inclusive and especially wanted an adults only as we were there to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. First and foremost Aruba is beautiful and very safe. We were able to venture out and see the island and felt very safe in doing so. This resort is OLD and TIRED! It’s very dark inside…..doesn’t seem very tropical. We booked 3 sea view rooms seven months in advance. When we got to our three rooms we were overlooking a roof top. After numerous trips to the desk we were moved to the room we booked the next afternoon. EVERYONE at the desk was very friendly, reassuring and professional. As I probably dealt with all of them at one point. Riu needs to put some money into this resort and upgrade it. Rooms are not the cleanest, dirty towels, dirty bedskirt, etc. MOST of all they need to remove that filthy carpet in the hallways that is old, dark, dingy and peeling up. The smell is horrendous!!!!!! All these things are not the fault of the employees that work here. I have never met such warm, friendly, professional people who are ALWAYS smiling and seriously can’t do enough for you. You guys rock, especially Jackie and Mary at front desk. Thanks for keeping me calm and reassuring me things would be taken care of. Now the food…..EXCELLENT!!!!!! Specialty restaurants top notch. LOVED the steak house, thanks OWEN for great service. Ate at the buffets several times for breakfast lunch and dinner. Buffets were AMAZING. There was ALWAYS something for everyone. I’m a very picky eater and always left there very fulfilled. These beautiful people go above and beyond. Their warmth hospitality makes you want to return time and time again. They have a cafe onsite that serves the BEST cappuccinos. Also the drinks were absolutely delicious with a full martini menu in the lobby. I honestly didn’t want to bash this place because we had a great time and hope to return just Riu PLEASE put some money into this tropical paradise ‼️

Do Not Recommend
Had a trip booked at the Riu Antillas 1 full year in advance for my partner and I after he was deployed for the past year. We booked a full year in advance (which is the earliest the hotel website allows you to book) and splurged for the oceanfront suite (the top tier of available rooms). When we arrived and got to our room, I noticed that it was a partial ocean-view suite, not oceanfront. When we addressed this with the front desk, we were informed that the hotel "overbooked" and they are unable to provide the room that we had booked, as it was not available until halfway through our trip. This was never relayed to us when we first got our room assignment, as they clearly hoped that we would not notice or say anything. We were told we would be getting a partial refund for the difference in room types and to touch base with management throughout our stay. We checked in with them every day and were informed the refund would be put back on the booking credit card. We were ultimately moved to the correct room for the last couple nights of our trip. We touched base with the staff before check out stating that we needed documentation sent to us of the refund, as we had not received it yet, so that we did not run into issues getting it once we returned home. We were told there would be a refund of $1269 placed back on our card and have email documentation of this amount from management. Fast forward multiple MONTHS of not receiving a refund, RIU fighting our credit card dispute, we finally received a refund of $634. When I reached out regarding the incorrect refund, I was informed that the original calculated amount was incorrect and that we would only be receiving that half. This went on for multiple months with me reaching out to management multiple times, and the hotel has still not refunded us our full promised amount. The hotel began offering an "elite club" booking option back in October of 2024, which they converted all oceanfront rooms to. This was put into place 7 months following our booking, meaning the hotel bumped our booking in order to charge guests more for the "elite club" experience. What was supposed to be a romantic vacation following my partner returning home from deployment, ended up being a huge headache and having over $600 taken from us and not returned. I do not recommend the Riu at all. (Resubmitted 10/25 per Trip Advisor guidelines as I had submitted the same review on both Google and Trip Advisor).
