Less than impressed

Overall, we had a great trip. How can you complain when you are in Aruba? It was hands down the most beautiful island I have ever been to. Unfortunately, I feel as though the resort (RIU Palace Antillas) could have been better. For "all inclusive" I felt as if you didn't get what you paid for. Our rooms were mediocre; a little old and outdated with an outdated shower. When we arrived, our 3 rings of our shower curtain were pulled down off of the bar and one of our robes was dirty. Other than that, the room was pretty standard. Great view of the water and obviously the booze dispenser in the room was a plus. The biggest disappointment was the room service and over quality of the food. The room service menu (which, keep in mind, one of the main reasons we picked this hotel was because it offered room service) had about 5 things to choose from on it. Chips and cheese dip (that tasted like it came out of a can), fruit, a chicken club sandwich and a smoke salmon bagel are among the few things they offered. All of it was terrible. In terms of restaurants, we couldn't even get into any of them. People lined up at 6PM to get in for the 6:30 opening and by the time we got there, they were "full" for the night. We never got a chance to eat at any of the 3. Your only option aside from that is the buffet. It has a ton of food to choose from but, for the most part, it was all sub par quality. Oh, and don't even try to leave with any of it. We tried bringing a few pieces of pizza back up to our room and one of the workers chased us down the hallway to yell at us and tell us we couldn't do that. By far, food was the biggest disappointment. On the positive side, the pool, the beach and the bars are all great at the resort. We were very happy with it all. The servers out at the pool bars are very friendly and helpful. We ventured out a few nights and went to a few great restaurants. Gianni's and the Flying Fishbone are very good and I strongly recommend them although they are a bit pricey. Eduardo's snack shack is also a must. We would definitely go back to Aruba but will definitely be thinking twice before we consider another trip to the RIU or an all inclusive all together.

Riu antillas

I am very glad I picked this resort, I was very happy with the service, everyone is very friendly. Food was delicious. Although, the hotel/resort shut down for 4 hours on wedneday Thursday Friday, it was terrible: I was so badly burned and wanted to change out of my batheing suit but could not access my room due to elevators being shut off. I was so very uncomfortable i could put no aloe on my skin as it was in my room. I spent around 4,000 and I expected a little better from the hotel.

Had a great time here! Food was great but restaurants should allow booking, didn’t like the stand in line process. Bed was uncomfortable! All else was perfect! Loved it here, would definitely go back to Riu!
