Amazing hotel experience- rude agent from Amstar

This resort ended up being above expectations. Upon our arrival I was scared the family room we got would be too small but it worked out fine for our 3 adults two kids. If you want the "family room" with bunk beds you should specify that since we ended up with a pull out loveseat instead (no big deal). The specialty restaurants ended up being amazing- all of them. The ocean lunch buffet was good with amazing views of ocean while eating. We preferred the smaller breakfast buffet over the larger one. The beach was big and we never had difficulty finding 5 lounge chairs on the beach. The waves were a bit strong but my kids age 8 and 10 were fine and thrilled to body surf and boogie board on the waves. The water was warm and similar in color to the US Pacific, not like Cancun side aqua blue, but beautiful. We went to the family pool area each day around 3 and didn't have trouble finding lounge chairs at that time. It was nice to have the family pool option away from the "party pool" on the other side. We were shocked at how few Americans were at the resort but it was nice to feel more submerged in a predominantly Mexican crowd The cleaning staff, lobby staff and kids club staff were sweet and kind. The performances put on nightly were out of this world good. I am not a "show" person but these performers were really good. The ONLY person I had a problem with was the AMSTAR/Apple representative named Mike. I missed the scheduled (morning after arrival) appointment with him due to sleeping children then he was off for several days so when I came to see him the day before our departure he was extremely rude and talked to me like I was a child (I'm a grown woman). He reprimanded me and spoke very condescendingly to me and finally gave me my PREPAID transportation information. I feel like he was holding the transport info hostage because I didn't buy any excursions through him. I think Cheap Carribean should provide customers with their transportation time at time of purchase so they don't have to deal with a rep on site trying to sell them excursions. Overall amazing trip!

Rui Jalisco

Everyone was extremely efficient. However some miscommunication at front desk on taxi pricing and payment. Information given was taxi drivers only excepted pesos which was not true. We had to make meaningless purchases in the gift shop to exchange dollars for pesos. Then found out the drivers preferred dollars as payment. Also bus schedule given to us was not correct.

Amazing family vacation!

This was our second time to Riu Jalisco and we would go back again! The value is amazing, grounds are very well kept, service is great, pools and beach are amazing, food is typical, but good, would have liked a queen size bed to share with my husband (had two doubles, our teenage son was with us), but it was fine. We were so sad to come back home, it really is a great place and will be missed! Until next time!!

One of the best resorts!

One of the BEST resorts I’ve been to! Entertainment all day long for all ages. Endless food that is good not great but who’s there for the food? Endless alcohol even in the rooms. The grounds are immaculate ! The beach was perfect for swimming and playing in the waves. MUST do: sailing at the beach on a small catamaran with a skipper; absolute blast and beautiful! Very safe! I traveled with 2 teenagers and 10 year old who all loved it!!

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The Spanish-style resort with Moorish flourishes, surrounded by palm groves and the Pacific.

The liquor dispensers in the rooms. It's a party. Just add people.

RiuLand - supervised fun for the little ones while you savor that beachtastic drink by the teal waves.

The majestic Sierra Madres that hug Banderas Bay, which frame the soul-stirring sunsets.

Stress-smashing massages in open-air palapas, facials and Henna tattoos you can get at the spa.

The championship golf course that's near and waiting for your A game.

The nearby Marieta Islands with the hidden beach, a natural wonder that'll blow your hair back.

What We'd Change

Since it's located in Nuevo Vallarta, it's a bit of a drive to the shopping and sights in downtown Puerto Vallarta. But most families never want to leave the all-inclusive perks at Riu Jalisco.

Why You Should Go

The airport is 10 miles from the airport. Your vacay is so near you'll be able to taste it.

Frolicking at the dolphinarium in Banderas Bay is a great option for a non-beach day.

The Malecon, a promenade with beautiful sculpture, is near and ready for your oohing/awing.

There's wave after wave of water sports: body boarding, kayaking, catamarans, and more.

The boat trip to Yelapa, an epic, beachy paradise you can access by boat, is a must-do.

For a fee, you can hop on horses and/or bikes to explore the exotic, tropical terrain.

The traditional village of Bucerias is near and filled with craft markets for your sourveniring.
