Family Trip
We had a great time with our group of 12. There was something for everyone. The hotel was very clean and the food was pretty good. A few things I think that could be improved are: *We had to ask for water and coffee in our room everytime. This should be filled every second day without having to ask. *The birds around the pool trying to eat peoples food is out of hand. Not sure if anything can be done. *It is time for some renos in the main part of the hotel. The tubs are a bit tricky to get into. The rooms are stating to show some wear as well. All in all this is a great resort and I would recommend it.

Beautiful Resort
The most organized check in and check out process we have ever experienced. Beautiful resort. Special thanks to the ladies sweeping the floors keeping the resort sparkling clean. Fantastic food. Endless options, all delicious. All kitchen staff was friendly and right there to assist in any way. Lounge chairs always available at the pools or beach in the sun or the shade at any time. No shortage of activities or entertainment. So many places to get alcoholic drinks at so there was no long line-ups. Special shout out to the senior bar tender at the sports bar. He made the best drinks didn't matter what we ordered. Elevators were a bit of a nightmare during certain times of the day. We were on the 8th floor, doors open but elevator already full over and over. some people were saying they would go up just so they could go down. People with mobility issues or with strollers I recommend the ground floor. I DO NOT recommend massages at this resort. $1000 pasos for 60 mins was was more of a body rub for 45 min. Three other people I spoke with had the same experience.

Price matches experience.
The room was definitely aged, terrible mattress, and mold in the shower. The staff were all wonderful! Drinks were excellent, and breakfast buffet food was great. Italian restaurant was our favorite. Not a lot of activities during the day (besides hit the pool bars), but the live music after dinner never disappointed. The Abba show was great.

Riu Emerald Bay Mazatlan
We had a great stay at the Hotel Riu Emerald Bay. Service at the front desk was very helpful. The grounds were kept clean and the beds were very comfortable. The food was pretty good for the most part although the meat was constantly overcooked. The chicken and fish was especially dry. We definitely gained weight so generally overate because of all the choices. Restaurant and bar staff were all very friendly. What would have made it better is not hearing the 3 terrible bands playing on the beach constantly playing at the same time different songs. The noise was very irritating and relentless! It was to the point that we wanted to leave every time they started. The only other issues we had were with the housekeeping. The bathrooms could have been cleaned more thoroughly. On three occasions they left housecleaning items in the room and once they left the door of our room open and unlocked. This was a little scary as anyone could have walked into our room. Thankfully we don't think anything was stolen but it made us a little uneasy. Overall the trip was enjoyable other than the listed details.

Beautiful resort with a few issues
Great property and grounds. Beautiful beach. Good food. Comfortable rooms. Mostly great service. Some issues though - the bands on the beach - several playing over top of each other at top volume. You will have heard about this in other reviews. I can't emphasize enough how annoying this is. 1st day or 2, ok. by the 3rd, its a problem. Very loud. Echos off the buildings. Comes through deck doors to inside your room. They play top volume from about 2 pm to 8 pm. It's hard to take. I love the tradition but does it need to be every day right in front of the hotel?? We did not see this at other hotels or downtown. Activity staff. Nice people. But no one knows the daily program - content, times etc. The app is never right. Even the posted daily activity list is often incorrect. We missed several shows because staff told us start time was 9 pm when actually is was 8:30pm. Front desk - many fabulous. But a couple when you had suggestions for improvement adopted the "meh" attitude and truly did not even try to register the feedback. This Riu has such potential to be a fabulous property and experience but it falls short. We will stay elsewhere next time.
