Nov 30, 2025Two weeks at RIU Emerald Bay
Hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly This was our fifth stay at this hotel and the tower section rooms are getting a little old and need to be remodelled, our room key almost never worked and many guests were complaining about that they should replace the bathtubs and put in walk-in showers We moved to the new section the second week and the rooms were much bigger and nicer. He had walk-in showers, but the water pressure was not good. Food and drink were OK but not great, but there was always lots to eat and drink They no longer seem to have staff going around taking drink orders at the bar or in the lobby, which they used to have before Overall good value for the money

Riu Emerald Bay
Nice resort that could use some updating in the tower area rooms. Very clean but our second week we never once had our minibar filled without calling despite ordering water at the front desk for daily. Safe never worked properly even after 3 fixes. We didn’t want to spend our vacation in the room waiting on maintenance so shared our friends safe. The staff are very friendly and efficient. All à la cartes should be open everyday not on a rotating schedule. The beach is beautiful and easy to walk, one of the reasons we like this hotel. And easy to walk

Fantastic Food
We’ve travelled to this Riu at least 5x and have always enjoyed our stay. The Riu App could use some tweaking, couldn’t use it to book ala carte restaurants, didn’t give the entertainment at both venues. One couple that travelled with us had booked a partial Oceanview room & received a room overlooking the staff parking lot, when they asked to change rooms they were told that it would be 150 pesos/person/night. Were told that the ads on the travel websites always lie about the room (really?). Would be nice if they had an adult only lounge/bar, overtired children can get pretty noisy.

Canadian Get-Away
The visit was our first time to the Riu. It exceeded our expectations. The restaurant service was top notch. The Lobby Bar was a must for us everyday before supper. Mani and Hector were the best!!

Rooms were very clean but a little outdated. The views from the balcony were superb. Pools (salt water) were well maintained. Always enough loungers on the beach but guests would go early and "reserve" the poolside loungers so little choice after 8:30 a.m. Friendly staff throughout the hotel. Amenities - superior. Can't wait to go back
