Jan 11, 2026First time at the Riu.
This was my seventh trip to Mazatlan and my first stay at the Riu. I did my research on the good and bad so you’re not surprised when you get there. I stayed in the new section and found that the room was very clean and comfortable.Except for the bed it was very hard. The morning breakfast made by Claudia was fantastic . We talked a little every morning getting to know each other and learning about each other’s languages. Pedro that takes care of you downstairs by the pool exit and main buffet was awesome. We looked forward to seeing him every day and his charm and wit. He was like a brother to us always joking. The food and drinks were good and always 24/7. The only two things I didn’t like is that they don’t clean the pools and they should every day. Garbage on the bottom of the pool and cockroaches and bees floating on the surface.🤢 There is hundreds if not thousands of people going in and out of the pool every day. Also the elevators should be inspected every day as well. My brother was trapped inside one and had to call for help. I am a smaller resort person and I probably wouldn’t stay here again only for that reason. There is a lot of people always coming and going. Weekends are crazy. Good luck and happy travels.

This resort was AMAZING!! Highly recommend to anyone with kids. They had a waterpark, ball pit/jungle gym, multiple kid pools, kid shows every night! We have 3 kids (3,4,5 years old), and stayed in a 2 bedroom family suite in the new complex which was perfect. The new complex is closest to all the kid pools/waterpark so it was great for location wise as well. I was skeptical about all the reviews about the food, but this resort had GREAT food! They have so many options, so much great food, it’s your own dang fault if you can’t find something good to eat. Because we had 3 young kids we just stuck to the buffets for ease and not having to wait ever. The Riu hotels are very consistent, kid-friendly, great food, very clean in general. We only stay in Riu’s, and this one held up to all the other amazing Riu’s we’ve stayed at

Perfect Vacation!!
Amazing time at Riu Emerald Bay! The weather was amazing, the food delicious, the staff and management second to none!! The hotel is absolutely spotless! The wait for the infamous elevators was not bad at all if you avoid the busy times. Always lounge chairs available around pools and on the beach. I strongly recommend Riu Emerald Bay!!

the servers were so good know me by name like they used to before covid! they knew what i wanted for breakfast and had it ready every time and the chefs in the breakfast were really accomodating and very kind.

Excellent All inclusive resort!! We were there from Dec.23- Jan 6. We have no complaints!!! Would we go again? YES!!!!!!
We had a great time! Clean resort and excellent attentive staff! Awesome drinks and coffee!! The food was good too!!!!!
