  A great getaway with a lively atmosphere. Had a great time!

  Overall we enjoyed our stay. Great place for families and physically disabled persons. (One pool has a ramp). Positives: Lots of pools. Our favourite was the adult pool beside splash world . The bartenders Leonardo and Pacho made our days in there so fun for our group. The pool to the most left of the building facing the beach was quite cold. Aquafit was a fun way to get exercise. The foam party was a hit with the younger adults in our group. Great drinks! (Except beer) The whole resort is very clean, including the beach, pool area, bathrooms, lobbies and rooms . Italian restaurant was great. The tres Islas buffet was pretty good too. The sports bar: Awesome hot beverages such as lattes, coffee and tea. It was a family favourite. We also played cards outside of the bar sometimes. Down the road on each side there stores. To right about 12 minutes walking is an Oxxo. To the left about 15 minutes walking was vendor booths, bars with entertainment. All green bus (not green and white) stops on road and will take you to all over Mazatlan for $18 pesos. But don’t count on driver to assist as they are not helpful. My tip: if you want a quiet room, ask for one left side of the building facing the beach. The theatre and a bar (la tambora) with live bands (until 11:30 pm )is in the right and it is loud. Check out Kannon on Friday nights at el tambora and at the adult pool beside the water park Saturday 3 pm to 5 pm. They rocked! They also play regularly at Stone Island. Check out the Alan Jackson tribute show at the bar(Mr. Lionsy) at the right end of the beach about a 15 minute walk on the beach Wednesdays and Saturdays. You have but tickets ahead of time and cost $15 Canadian per person.Great show . Aaron covers all kinds of country music and is a great entertainer. Downsides: Only one regular beer available . Was quite flat and not very warm. Tecate in cans is available. It is a louder resort with a party vibe. My family enjoyed that though. The mariachi band plays on the beach EVERY DAY from 4 pm until 8 pm at the earliest. This band is not part of riu and unfortunately they are not great, very loud and you have no choice but to listen to them. If the riu got rid of them my rating would go up 1/2 a star. I would recommend this resort.

  Fantastic Resort

  The resort and rooms were clean, the staff helpful and friendly, the food was excellent. Pick up and from and delivery to the airport was efficient and seamless. One tiny complaint- only the front speaker was working on the bus from the airport so we had a hard time hearing the guide.

  Family trip

  Staff was amazing, food and drinks were enjoyed by the whole family. Beds and pillows were very hard. Room was ok but had larger industrial cooling fans close by and relaxing on the balcony was no good and cooling fans could be heard all night.

  My lovely vacation.

  My vacation was a lovely trip. I stayed 19 days, should have been 21 , no fault of RIU'S 7 of my family joined me there it was wonderful, 3 of them had never been there before, they loved it.

  Good experience, great staff

  Stayed 14 days. Very clean. Very accomodating staff - responded immediately to requests for bed toppers, extra water, extra towels. Ocean and sunset views amazing. Beach access great. Took in two shows, enjoyed musicians by evening dining room. Loved breakfasts on Malecon terrace. Good variety of food at buffet restaurants. Great pool aquacize daily and pool bubble/dance party. Recommend Uber or bus (13 pesos) to Centro district in city.
