  Riu Emerald Bay Mazatlan

  I booked this all inclusive through Sunwing. I booked private transportation as this was my first time in Mazatlan. That’s another review…. Arrived, you don’t go to the main desk with Sunwing, it’s in the back but it was easy. My room was available within the hour. The room is fine, I booked ocean view, good a/c, excellent shower pressure, fridge had beer and soda, stocked with coffee and a coffee pot. Bring a water bottle to get milk at the buffet for your coffee as they only have powdered, packaged coffee mate. If you want to bring some fruit back to the room for your fridge, bring a container. I would bring it out for a snack on the beach the next day. Buffet is okay, same so it gets blah after a few days but go to the pool area, grab a hot dog or hamburger or the pub/bar. Dirty Monkey’s were great at the pool (did not care for the sweet, frozen drinks), I mostly had rum Pinapple juice with soda water (not a big drinker) lots of alcohol for you. They will make anything you ask for. Pool is clean, beach area is clean and I could always find a place to lay my towel. Lots of entertainment. If you don’t have kids I can say I enjoyed my time around the pool with the side jets. No kids splashing about. All in all - no complaints (bed is slightly on the hard side but big deal as I am not willing to ship a mattress of my liking). Great staff, friendly and professional all around. I tipped my cleaning lady 50 pesos a day and she would do anything for me. More water? Done. More coffee? Done. Tips: pulmonías are more than taxis.

  Great Holiday.

  Transfer was quick, straight to the hotel. Check-in was fast, our room was ready. This hotel is very clean. The grounds are very nice and well kept. The pools are very clean, plenty of loungers for guests. The beach is clean with plenty of room and loungers. The buffet is very good, many choices, restocking done regularly or cooked in front of you. The specialty restaurants were all good. Favorite was the Italian, the steak and salmon were delicious. Our maid did a fantastic job. Entertainment crew keep you as busy as you want. The water slides are well organized. The entertainment in the lobby bar and bartenders are something to look forward to every evening. I recommend this hotel. We stayed in room 2232. Absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed Christmas New Year's. Beautiful celebrations and Dinners.

  I always come back. I truly enjoy this place.

  Just another wonderful trip. Beautiful weather, check in/out has become more streamlined. Staff are always amazing. Food and activities are plenty and excellent.

  RIU Get Away

  Just home from two weeks at this RIU resort. Area Nice clean wide sandy beach, shopping on the beach and nearby with a collection of shops and bars and restaurants Cab fees vary widely Food. Was decent, could always find something to eat @ buffets, Ala Cartes were mostly buffet style as well, which is usually where we go to experience a change.( not this resort). They have the app to book through, but 7 every morning the front desk is lined up with people doing this. Tipping was appreciated more in the restaurants than bars and made a difference to seating and service. Property Nice clean property with clean rooms and maintained common areas. 14 in our party so varied room experiences. ( family room, junior suite etc) Pools were warm, beach is large and waves were enjoyed. Venders are abundant but not overly pushy. Guest levels were heavily weighted towards locals, a fact we generally enjoy and expect at the RIU resorts, find it usually refreshing for the insights. But this one was overrun in the afternoons, with groups moving into occupied chairs and just taking over areas. Beverages Carbonated beverages were hit and miss throughout the two week stay, flat more than not. Adult beverages were thrown together with cheap juices and cheaper alcohol, sometimes even when others were asked for. Tipping is a practice among our group and at the bars it made no difference. Having stayed at numerous RIU resorts, we found the beverages at this location to be subpar. There were a couple bar tenders that simply didn’t provide service, would overlook anyone that didn’t speak Spanish ( nicest way I could phrase this)

  Great resort!

  Family friendly resort with lots of activities for kids, awesome beaches! We were in the tower and had a room with great view of ocean and sunset. Few negative comments were that the show for kids in evening were quickly turned into elimination games, mattresses were uncomfortable, and elevators extremely slow. We were also hoping to rent boogie boards but could only purchase them which was not cheap. Wish the resort had an option to rent them! But overall would highly recommend this resort to everyone and definitely come again!
