    Misses the mark

    We picked this resort because it would accommodate a family of 5, not many will without booking two rooms, but it misses the mark of many points. Especially the food. We’ve stayed at Majestic Elegance twice and is far superior on every level. At some points in the day there is no food available. We were there around lunch and no restaurant was open, not even buffet. We went to the sports bar, only sad cold sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers that you can microwave. No food at all in the sports bar. We did discover the grill by the pools after. But only ate fries. Sorry hamburger is just different in Mexico, that’s at any resort. Some pluses: The grounds and beach are beautiful. Room was spacious (family 2 bedroom suite) had two full bathrooms. It felt clean, but cold and uninviting. White walls, and plain white wall hallways to the rooms. Never fought for beach chairs (mid October). The people are great and very kind. Lots of chairs on the beach. A plus is the size. It’s not too big to navigate and get around. Some resorts are just way too big. Bar in lobby is fun and cute. Negatives: FOOD. Even the sit down restaurants are a buffet! The Italian had a small menu of 6 items you can order plus the buffet, but the Chinese is all buffet. And food was mid at best. Pizza in Italian was decent. Long checking lines at 3:00 when rooms ready. We loved having changing rooms at majestic. None here. The towel card game sucks. What a pain. I hate having to worry about towels and collecting your card. Bugs were bad! Take bug spray! We’ve never had that other times when coming. It’s after rainy season and they were bad. Not the resorts fault. Steakhouse was disappointing. Only 2 appetizers to choose from and very very limited menu. You have to eat outside. Could be bad at times of the year. Steak was not great either. Buffet was quantity over quality. There’s just better. The food really brings this place down. Usually we don’t want to leave because of the food, this time we couldn’t wait to get home to good food. But we didn’t go hungry. Everything felt very budget resort. Usually check in is grand and beautiful but felt dark and hotel like. Not a resort. Sorry but the beach and pools saved this place. We’ll probably never do another RIU after this one experience here. I’d look elsewhere.

    Had a great time with my family!

    Definitely would recommend this hotel for families with kids. It has entertainment pretty much all day, including for kids and adults. The RiuFit, RuiStage, RiuArt, RiuLand were all so fun. It also has water park for kids as well as adults. Food options were decent, including vegetarian items.

    Would return

    Lovely stay at the hotel. Beach is beautiful however did have to dodge poo on one occasion. Really enjoyed the food. Was initially concerned as had read another review from English guests that they were ignored however we did not experience this and found all the staff to be nice and attentive. Room was spacious and clean. Drink selection was really good and bar staff happy to make whatever drink you wanted. Always bar staff going round the beach and pool areas offering you drinks. I would definitely return in the future.

    Clean, Relaxing and fun

    The hotel staff are extremely friendly, helpful and generous. They really made my birthday stay enjoyable. The Buffett is the best that I have ever been to and I have traveled a lot. My only complaint is the transportation company are not reliable and would not use them if I had to choose my own transportation. We did have an issue with house keeping but the Manager on duty took care of it immediately
