Mostly, Don't Go

This resort is appropriate for a select type of traveler. Not families with small children. Not people who want to actually go in the ocean. Not people who want any sort of night life. Not "Foodies". There are people who like to chill by the pool; there are several small pools.Like to read and nap. Like to be carted up and down the steep terrain on twisting, turning paths sort of like a go-cart course. That part is kind of fun. The resort is honest right up front that the ocean is too rough to swim in but that they have shuttles to sister resorts. The shuttle, singular, starts at ten o'clock and runs on the hour with a capacity of 40 customers. That is inadequate to move the numbers of people that want to go. The beach in front of the resort is nice. Large and clean with no protection from the sun.The small pools that dot the compound have limited deck space and are too cool to really enjoy.(I live in the Vermont and am accustomed to "cool" water) You will see a few children swimming and the rare adult. The situation would improve if they planted a thousand palm trees and built a huge pool across the bottom of their property with space for children to play. I don't care much about an active night life. There is a sports bar with at least nine descent TVs and a fun crowd of various fans. I'm not hard to please on the food front but was disappointed until we tried the restaurant by the main pool. Great breakfast buffet. Good dinner options. Best to skip the Bistro all together and be selective at "The Market". The waiters were highly variable. Some excellent and quite a few were lost in space. We decided that many were poorly trained and/or trying to serve too many tables. You would get your coffee, juice was forgotten, sometimes refills, water most of the time. Cereal bowls here, spoons over there. An order completely forgotten. I'm not wanting to be harsh, we certainly had excellent servers, but overall service could be improved. In addition, it's the coast, I want fish and rice. Some fish goulash concoction and no rice. Our housekeeper, Maria, was great. Often checking if we had needs. The room was good. Classic crummy TV controller with battery cover falling off. Sliding patio door that my wife couldn't open. Forced her to watch her girth or stay inside. There is a really good gym, clean, modern equipment, stretching/yoga area. There are two nice tennis courts, bring your own raquets. The resort will rent you some $25 raquets for seven dollars a pop. Some of them are genuine antiques. Check-in and out was great. The desk staff really try make it smooth and fast. Same for the concierge desk and baggage guys. If you go, be prepared for the hard sell. Time shares. I try to have a little fun with them while declining their offer. But it can be annoying. There was one woman trying to pitch a time share while we were eating dinner, a bit much. In the next breath, my brother-in-law took one for the team. He sat through the presentation and scored three vouchers for the resorts Jack Nicholas golf course. Fun course with some sea side holes. We rented clubs for $68 including six balls, Yes, I used all six. It's a fair course for recreational golfers. We did the all inclusive package. At other resorts, all inclusive gets you at least some water in your room and often beer, soda, snacks. Not so here. I enquired as to why not and was told that since they have customers paying for room only, it would be too much work. That means we were always hustling to keep water in the room. I was advised that for $5 fee room service would bring some unknown amount of water or beer to you. This is a customer service problem that management doesn't want to address. Lastly and most curiously there are the zero balance bills. After every meal or the receipt of even one bottle of water, you are expected to sign a ticket. There is speculation among the tourists as to why. Is there some sort of tax dodge? The prices on the tickets vary wildly. Three people every morning for a buffet breakfast that priced at between $168 to $56. Waiting for the tickets was really annoying. I think I might have covered it.

Best vacation...ever!

What an amazing resort! The grounds were so well kept and beautiful, the pictures don’t even do it justice. Gorgeous views everywhere you look. The staff are sooo friendly. Don’t forget to bring money & small bills to tip them! I love that Pueblo Bonita includes their other resorts in the all inclusive package. We were able to take a shuttle to the other side of the island to visit their beaches and restaurants. Overall, 5 stars. 10 if I could. :)

Best vacation...ever!

First time in Cabo

Booking through cheap Caribbean allowed us to travel and stay in this resort at a lower price than members (we learned by attending a presentation and talking to members). The resort was clean, had great food and wonderful employees. I did not like that gratuity was “welcome” or “appreciated” as my husband and I have enjoyed all inclusive resorts and Prefer a resort where that expense is included in the original cost, as it feels like we have to leave high tips due to the cost of every item we are and drank being on the receipt we were asked to sign. The pools were nice and I bet in the summer are awesome. We were surprised they were not heated for winter as they are a little chilly and for the most part people only got in for a few minutes. There was no beach entry at our resort and when we traveled to a sister resort we were rushed with so many people wanting us to purchase their stuff we could barely relax. The room and restaurants were clean and well decorated. The entire resort smelled amazing and was very spa like so overall we had a great time and enjoyed our trip for what we paid.

What's to Love

The Sky Pool is incredible and offers sweeping views of the sea plus top-notch drink service. It's also a beautiful and unexpected spot to tie the knot.

What We'd Change

The beach is great for strolling but isn't swimmable due to a strong undertow. But the resort offers a complimentary shuttle to beautiful Medano Beach.

Don't feel like traveling? The resort has you covered with five free-form swimming pools, five Jacuzzis, shady loungers and six swim-up bars.
