Worst resort ever for 4-5 star

So I’ve booked this resort chain before thinking it would as great as the others. And I was completely wrong. Do not book here if you can’t stand humidity and you like good food. I’ve been to Punta Cana at least a dozen times and this resort was the worst especially for star ratings it says. Thank god my room got an upgrade so the room was nicer than the older models. However the room isn’t too clean. I think more bc my room was close to the beach so the floors were dirty. (Yes I judge the rooms by how clean the floors are). Location of my room was the only plus. First, the food options are terrible. You MUST book your restaurants the minute they open the phone reservation because otherwise you will be stuck eating the limited buffet options everyday. The buffet was horrible. I think a few things weren’t edible (eggs, bread, potatoes) everything elder was pretty bad. I am a foodie but I’m also not that picky and would understand being in DR my options would be limited, however everything was drenched in oil, burnt or so dry. I literally could not eat it. The restaurants is not that much better. But it’s more edible than the buffet. And room service is available if you are part of Royal service and choices are very very limited.my friend and I ate room service for breakfast and lunch everyday til we left bc the breakfast and food options were horrible. We just barely made reservations for dinner and those options were just options. Not great not good not terrible. Also, I’ve never been to a resort where the wait and host staff was so miserable and unfriendly. They rolled their eyes when I asked for ice coffee. Yes, it was too hot for hot coffee and another fellow made me one the other day. After that meal we were fed up and decided to eat in our rooms. Additionally, If you like to sweat and eat, this place is for you. Almost ALL the restaurants and buffets is outdoors. So forget about feeling fresh and cool bc the minute you get to eat you will start to sweat. Another mindful issue is that bc there are surrounding ponds by the restaurants, be ready to be eaten alive by the misquitos. My friend didn’t get bit as much but they went to town all over my legs and feet and arms. I looked around the restaurant and every other patron was slapping their legs because they were also getting bitten. The waitress did have an OFF spray handy (clearly they knew it was a problem). Now the bars, clubs, entertainment are okayyyy. They are ALSO on the beach because I’m not sure why they decided to have it outdide but if you are not susceptible to humidity this resort is NOT for you. I recall showering every moment or chance I had to go to the room and luckily bc my room wasn’t too far from the main attractions. The club and pool was okay. The pool is warm and cloudy , probably becuase of all the kids and drinks. But there’s only one swim up bar. The only good part was that the pool waiters were great. They were sweet and brought drinks right away. The room service staff was also friendly. Other than that, unless you are paying for spa which we did 2x everyone else is not friendly and most wood their English was really poor. I had stayed and you can tell that they either cut their pays so the ones who speak English go to the better resorts and these guys just did not speak a lick of English. Probably why they were also unfriendly and miserable looking. I’ve never been to an all inclusive resort where they really cut too many corners. If you plan to stay in DR, go to the other Paradisus Palma Real and get the UPGRADE. Otherwise that one too may not be as great. Although I have stayed at the Paradisus Palma real and stayed as a reserve guest but the options overall were fantastic. I was expecting the same this time around and ended up in the wrong resort and terrible place. Oh and prepare yourself with mountains of seaweed in the water. The water was filled so much that I barely went in. I laid out for a bit and headed to the pool. It’s not the resorts fault bc that is justness Mother Nature but still...

Do not recommend!!

My family and I had a terrible experience well, smh. Firstly, our room had to be changed twice due to the resort not making the correct accomodation. We booked a room with two double beds and got a room with one king bed. Some of the staff were nice but most were not! Oddly enough we were told to tip the staff before hand so that they will treat you kindly. My family and I are very good tippers but by no meams will we pay someone to be nice to us!!! The culture of that place needs an adjustment if they feel like this behavior is ok. My aunts watch was stolen by a staff person at the resort, she mistakenly did not lock it in the safe and came back to no watch!! The authorities at the resort “supposedly” were going to conduct an investigation, we havent heard anything since!!!Although we know to lock our valuables away it felt very violating to know that we couldnt even trust the resort for a short period of time. Lastly, on our last day my mom and I were locked inside our room, I REPEAT LOCKED INSIDE OUR ROOM!!We could not get out of the room as something was wrong with the lock!!! We were trying to not miss our flight. We were stuck in our room for over an half an hour waiting for staff to assist, eventually a lockksmith had to scale our balcony and break the lock from the inside!!!! The staff had no remorse and havent even apologized for this as if it was nothing!! What if there was a fire, medical emergency etc... It makes me mad just thinking about it.We thought we were being punked our entire trip. Thankfully we can enjoy ourselves anywhere. This is not my first time in Punta Cana but it will definitely be my last at this resort. Moral of the story we DO NOT reccommended this resort!

REALLY BAD FOOD

Beautiful beach, pools but the food oh my goodness just HORRIBLE. We tried every single restaurant in hopes of finding some decent food but no, nothing!!! My boyfriend got food poisoning from the Italian restaurant. Can't stress how bad it was. Go somewhere else.

What's to Love

All-inclusive everything: the cocktails, the grub, the utter luxuriousness of it all.

Royal Service - an exclusive boutique hotel within the resort, complete with butler service.

Squeezing every ounce of stress out of your bod with hydro-massages, facials & the private gym.

Feeling Zen with YHI Move classes that includes Prana, Power and Hatha yoga. Namaste.

Getting your craft on with classes for making cocktails, sushi, stained glass, candles and more.

The Kids Zone - water games & art workshops. For teens, DJ classes & mangrove tours.

What We'd Change

The resort at Paradisus Punta Cana is very large and spread out. And sometimes the wait for the shuttle is 15 or 20 minutes. But remember, waiting in paradise isn't a hardship.

Why You Should Go

Only 35 minutes from the Punta Cana airport. Your dream vacay will be here zippity zip.

Rally or beat the swim trunks off your opponent on four tennis courts. A little rivalry never hurt anybody.

You can tee off at the world-renowned Cocotal Golf & Country Club. Bring your A game.

In the surf, you can dive into kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving (for certified drivers).

On terra firma, there are guided hikes, bike tours, a rock climbing wall, paddle tennis and more.

There's killer entertainment: live music, Latin & Dominican parties, but that's just the tip of the beachberg.
