Our Ocean Maya Royale Experience
Overall my wife and were very pleased with the experience. Service and hospitality were 5 stars. I cannot express how nice and attentive the staff was during our stay. The shows were entertaining and there was a nice vibe in the resort. The buffet food selection was good. Beach had sargassum, but the workers were clearing it as best they could. There were clear spots on the beach to enjoy the water. Great place for couples! Opportunities: Pool Maintenance. The pools had black algae in between most of the tiles. Needs to be brushed. Many tiles were lose and a few were found near the edge of the pool. Patio Door. Sliding door for the patio would not lock and had seen better days. Would’ve preferred a secure room while I was sleeping. Hibachi. This is the most popular restaurant. Long wait in line (picture below) at 5:45pm to get reservations. An online option should be available for all guests and not just Privilege. Waiting should be minimized for guests while on vacation. The chef was entertaining, but he dropped the spatula on the ground during his routine and did not replace the utensil. A guest joked about him needing to replace it and he just joked it off. Felt like food safety was not important to him. Bar Service. The pool bar needs more bar support between 12-5pm. Spent a lot of time waiting for drinks. Snack Availability. No place to grab a snack in between meals. A 24/7 station for guests to grab and go chips, cookies, etc would’ve been nice.

Horrible Resort - Do Not Recommend!
My stay at the Ocean Maya Royale was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. While the resort is advertised as a 5-star property, it failed to meet the mark on multiple occasions, including interactions with upper management, third-party vendors on the resort, overall cleanliness and service. I would not recommend this property to worst enemy! From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was beyond disorganized. It took us nearly 3 hours to get settled in, after arriving around 2:40pm, after having been travelling since 5am that morning. Not to mention, when it was time for checkout, my name was nowhere to be found in the system. Their system is incredibly outdated and inefficient, to the point where they had to pull out stacks of papers to find my name. Do better, and not at the expense of your guests. Next, the service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. I’ve stayed at 5 different all-inclusive properties in Mexico and I have never experienced such rude staff. The staff ignored our requests, and often did not understand or pretended not to understand us. For a property advertising itself as a 5-star resort in the middle of a tourist hub, you would think staff would be able to communicate efficiently with guests. Additionally, the management was not helpful at all. Our group spoke to the manager in the guest services office, Luis, who failed to help us on multiple separate occasions, including requiring a dinner reservation for our large group and being scammed by a 3rd party vendor situated on the resort. His response to us addressing these concerns was “feel free to write a review”, so that’s exactly what I’m doing. Speaking of third party vendors, steer clear of Oscar at the Coco Bongo booth. He scammed our group out of $180USD with the promises of a table at the club. When we got there, he disappeared, leaving us feeling cheated and table-less the entire night. He acted friendly to get his sale and lied to our faces about promising a table when we went to get a refund. You’re better off purchasing tickets directly on Coco Bongo’s website. Finally, the beach was not usable. The resort smelled of rotten eggs from the seaweed and the smell could not be escaped anywhere on the property. The shore was covered in pungent seaweed. Avoid this property at all costs. Absolutely pathetic.

Lovely place, experience team the best
Thank you so much for the amazing experience activities. We had so much fun at black Jack with kenddell, he is so funny and the best game dealer. Aqua class with gym is a MUST Also by the pool during the day you can find lots of activities like bingo with Victor, volleyball with Suzanne, and arts and craft with viri and Juan. All the experience team were amazing. We had a lovely time here. Visiting from UK. Cheers x

Lots of activities and things to do.
If you are looking for a place to have fun and never get bored this is your place. From dusk till dawn you will have activities and night time shows. Thanks kenddell for the most amazing time at this resort. Every class and activity with him means absolutely FUN. I've never seen a pool full of people over an aqua gym class like in his.

Fun in the Sun!
This place was fantastic. Our room was located in Block 17 and was the perfect distance to the restaurants and to the pool. There was nothing to complain about; the food was good, the drinks were cold and lots of fun to be had! We were really relaxed and treated well by all staff. We didn't do Privilege as it really wasn't necessary. Our favourite places were the coffee shop and the sports lounge. The beach on the one side isn't the best, but the other side is fine. Those crazy Mexican raccoons were a bit of a nuisance as one morning we were trying to have a quick breakfast on our patio and we were swarmed. The problem is that other patrons from our block were feeding them. Be prepared for craziness at the Cancun airport. Make sure you wear Depends as the lineups for the women's bathroom were insane. We were on the cusp of March Break, so it was nuts.
