Disappointed

Our first problem was being dropped off at our room and it being under construction. Ladder, tools, hole in wall and more. So not being able to change out of cold winter clothing because the resort insisted on taking our carry on because they would be in our room before we arrived. Which did not happen. And having to walk a 1/4 mile back to the lobby made us a bit irritated and hot. After about 2 hours we were in our room in building 5. Supposively an upgrade Everything appeared nice. Fridge was empty, which requested it to be filled. We also requested a blanket and some clothing hangers. Every guest has a resort employee who is supposed to assist you with anything you need. Two days to get a blanket. Never received hangers and only have fridge stocked after we found and tipped the guy who actually restocked them So our upgrade with a hot tub on the balcony. Hot tub leaked so it took 2 hours to fill and drained shortly after. Our last night the Jets totally stopped working. The jacuzzi in the bathroom also looked great but this too leaked and took 1 hour to fill. One sink also leaked into the floor. First morning we were picked up and taken to our welcome breakfast. Breakfast and gifts, what could go wrong .. It ends up being a time share sales pitch but with a name change. 2 hours in we were ready to start our vacation. When we stated we were leaving so our vacation could now start Zeon the sales manager became very rude. Not only pointing in my face but ended with "go and enjoy you little $3000 vacation" then followed us telling us how dumb we are. We at no time agreed to sit through a 2 hour vacation sales pitch. We paid full price for our vacation. Food was not great and several restraunts we're closed. Room service was a disappointment too Even more upsetting is that we had a credit with Cheap Caribbean from a vacation a month before we had to cancel do to a personal unforseen situation. Which we lost money from Well it ended up that we were supposed to vacation at the Iberostar but Cheap Caribbean had a problem on there end an entire week went by while they straighten their screw up up, so in return prices went up about $300 per person and availability went down. So for this reason we ended up at the Ocean Blue and Sands. With several things being addressed this could be a wonderful resort Food, service, beach maintenance. I will not use Cheap Caribbean again because of the delay and unwillingness of the supervisors to help us after their mistake.

Wonderful vacation

We had a great stay at this resort. Food was delicious as there were many options to choose from whether eating at a buffet or restaurant. This is a smaller resort compared to others I have been to, but still big enough with plenty of things to keep you occupied throughout your stay. Check in was simple and the rooms were spacious with a patio. Our bar wasn't stocked when we got there and we got locked out of the room for about an hour and a half due to a battery issue on the lock. We were truly disappointed with the service at the Margarita restaurant because our waiter(s) pretty much forgot about our order as we waited about 45 minutes before getting food that wasn't even worth the wait. We wanted to try the Japanese restaurant, but they were already booked the day we went to make reservations as their max occupancy is 56. There is a snack bar/buffet on the beach that turns into a Dominican Restaurant at night, but has the most beautiful view during the day as you are eating. There are also beds and beach chairs to lounge on. I recommend Steven in Building 4 for booking excursions outside of the resort (side by side excursion is well worth the money!!!) Also, do not waste your time changing currency as they accept USD for everything. We were told by the person at the towel station that the towel cards need to be given back at checkout otherwise they charge a fee. Pretty much all the staff were welcoming and friendly, but just beware of agreeing to attend "meetings" as they are a sales pitch to buy timeshares. The weather was also amazing during our stay. They also have nightly shows for entertainment. Overall, I would definitely recommend this resort!

Good hotel

The hotel was good overall. But staff promoting the privilege package was a bit annoying, asking us all the time if we went to an informative session, if we interested in their promotions, etc. It got to a point we didn't want to say hi to hotel staff because we were afraid they would start talking uabout the privilege package.

Overall, excellent resort.

Had a great time. Very nice resort. Did feel a little isolated from the town of Punta Cana - which i have enjoyed exploring on past trips. Was told it would cost $25 US for a taxi to the town - each way which is a little over a mile. Found a work around for that however so was able to explore the city more. Very friendly staff. Slow to bring beverages at meals however. Remember to bring your beach towels or towel cards at check out - they will not let you check out without bring those.

Hotel Description

Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, Punta Cana: Get Ready to Double Down

If life feels like one long day after another, give yourself permission to check out the magnificent Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort. The Ocean Blue and Ocean Sand share facilities, which means twice the activities of an average resort by offering dining and amenities for every one of their guests with access to both resorts. Each resort houses half of the combined 708 five-star suites and junior suites. VIP concierge service is offered for Privilege Jr. Suites.

Located along the lush Dominican Republic's Punta Cana, this all-inclusive dreamboat offers water activities, such as snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba diving, plus unique ways to see the sights, including a cool beachfront climbing wall. Float under swaying palm trees in the quiet pool or order a margarita and join the party at the other pool's swim-up bar. When you've had enough water fun, channel your inner Robin Hood at the archery range, shoot pool like Minnesota Fats, or peddle like Lance Armstrong on a bike.

If you're feeling in need of pampering, relax at Ocean Spa, then grab an Irish Coffee at Mike's, the coffeehouse at Ocean Blue & Sand. Fully caffeinated and ready to go, cash in at the Ocean Tower Casino, or strike out with the family at the bowling alley. If bowling balls aren't your cup of tea, splurge a little and grab a tee-time at nearby White Sands Golf Course, an 18-hole course designed by Spanish golf great, Jose "Pepe" Gancedo.

Guests can have their taste buds tickled with a smattering of delicious dining options from El Bodegon's Spanish tapas, to Route 66's 1950s diner, to La Casa de Mi Abuela's traditional Dominican fare. Dine where you like, when you like, with no reservations needed. And for those who really rock around the clock, you can play the night away at the resort's Wave Disco Bar. So if you just can't stop... you don't have to at Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, where it's all inclusive, all of the time.
