Great hotel, great food! Yums!

Occidental is an all inclusive hotel that offered me great service, deliscious food which includes the signature Arroz Gallo, with beef, chicken, and seafood. Staff was very welcoming and I felt very safe. It’s a half mile from the Tamarindo avenue so it’s close to other restaurants and bars. The Costa Rican adult beverage “Pura Vida” was amazing.

HONEST REVIEW

This is my 3rd times in Costa Rica, beautiful country and I love it. At this same time, this is my 1st time stayed at this hotel. Wow , wow, wow. Let me first say, I hope I had a way to give this hotel negative zero stars, but I don’t therefore this is a `100 ZERO STARS HOTEL. Since it is an all-inclusive hotel so let’s talk about the food, 1 buffet for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Everyday they have the something for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On various occasion, they will switch the spot where the chicken is and put beef and switch the beef spot put chicken there, but it is the same thing. NO OTHER CHOICES. Beside 1 ala carte restaurant oh mine, mine, please do not go there. we try the ala carte restaurant it was like eating raw soap. Food was so disgusted. everyone was leaving after the first bite. I could not understand why they were leaving, after I receive my meals, oh boy we left after half bite. At this all-inclusive hotel, every guest was hungry because they all went into town looking for food. We saw many of them eating at the nearby town call Tamarindo Center. Now lets talk about the beach since this hotel is a beach front hotel. Fist all if you are looking for the beach front hotel, you are in the wrong place. This is a ROCK NATION NOT A BEACH. In other to swim, one must go in the middle of the ocean along with the SHARK, because it will take at least 20 ocean miles to get nice beach, which lifeguard on duty say not a good idea. Therefore, you will need a construction boot to swim on the rock. Near the beach aka ROCK NATION, they have a snack bar , which always crowded with FLIES not human but flies , therefore, the guest where force to sit near the ocean to watch the ROCK every day. Yes we did too , but after the 3rd day we went on excursion on ATV bike that was fun. Best thing there is the ATV bike. , horseback riding was ok beside that we had to put ice on our groin area , after just 1 hour ride. The horse was so skinny, we felt so sorry for them. The horse stop when they want and how they want we just accept it because they were tired and hungry . But it was fun. The rooms were clean, they promise us an ocean view room, glad we did not pay extra to watch the mountain ROCK but we did get a garden view , which was not garden view, it was a king jungle views wild bush , but its ok. We did not complain at all. No smoking no where in the hotel except on the highway if you smoke . For me no problem it was all good. Not to mention, the Ghost activities on the property. Everyday , walking by, you feel, heard, someone or something or footstep no one there. Hmmmm. Wifi if you have business to take care of it please do so before entering this hotel. They should put a sign saying that WARNING NO WIFI ZONE. At night time in the lobby you may get lucky that if there are no ghost activities that night. In closing don’t let the beautiful pictures of this hotel on the internet fool you. Remember that those pictures do not mention the ROCK NATION, FLIES ALLEY, NO WIFI ZONE, KING JUMGLE VIEWS AND THE SOAP DISH FOR A LA CATE. Thank you for staying at this hotel .

Hotel Description

Occidental Tamarindo - All-Inclusive: Hello, Playa Langosta

Nestled peacefully on the lush, tropical shores of Playa Langosta, in Costa Rica, caressed by clear blue tides rolling over the white sands, the all inclusive Occidental Tamarindo beckons one and all to indulge in sustainable luxury. Awarded Four Stars from Blue Flag for safe and clean beaches, and Three CST Stars for accomplishments in Sustainable Tourism by the Institute of Tourism and the Hospitality and Tourism Industry of Costa Rica, this resort offers a pristine and healthy environment where you can relax and unwind.

Speaking of food, the A La Carte restaurant offers a fine-dining experience, featuring international cuisine, while the main buffet offers a variety of readily accessible dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Enjoy spa treatments during the day, including full-body and beauty salon treatments. Try your hand, or your foot, at one of the beach soccer fields; grab a bow for a little friendly archery action or test your flexibility with the gymnastics and aerobics activities. Looking for something more? This area is well-known for its excellent scuba and snorkeling spots. The Hacienda Pinilla Golf Course is just 15 minutes from the hotel, and this 18-hole, 7,300-yd, par-72 course is the brainchild of world-class course designer, Mike Young.
