Never missed an opportunity to disappoint.....
The best advice I can offer is that when you check into Dreams Onyx, immediately check out go somewhere else. We have been to 10 - 12 or so All inclusives in the last few years and Dreams Onyx never missed an opportunity to disapoint during our 6 day trip. The Pro's: - Rooms are decent - Preferred Club Pool is decent, the Island's (which you have to pay extra for) are very nice - It was an overall clean resort including the outside (pool) restrooms - Being attached to the breathless resort next door (which you can use as adults only) gives you some more options - The beachfront outdoor Barefoot grill at Breathless had awesome burgers! - Recommend getting and using a Butler, they can be lifesavers at this resort (Rafael was awesome) The Con's: - The food overall was not good, these Hyatt resorts (Dreams/Breathless/Secrets/Zoetry/Impressions) all have the same restaurants everytime and the quality and flavor is lacking, a Chilli's would be the shining star if they had one. Avoid any beef products, take a look at the cows in the fields on your way into the resort....you will understand - The drink choices are very poor, very few name brands of liquor and the "house" version's are bad. You will be sick of "El Presidente" after day 1. Drinks are hand poured by bar staff and contents vary wildly..... - Pool seating is very limited, signs say "No reserving chairs" but that is widely ignored and if you are not out poolside by 9am everything has been taken, even the Preferred Club Pool runs out of loungers quickly and if you do get a pool chair they are very uncomfortable especially at the preferred club where the cushions are collapsed and in desperate need of replacement - The small number restaurants get crowded fast and the waitstaff are jaded - The "Entertainment" shows are cringeworthy, avoid any singing events - The Preferred club upgrades are really not worth it, its an additional $100 per night, your upgraded mini bar consists of a bag of M&M's a small can of pringles a Milky way and a small bottle of cheap Rum..... Yes you get access to the extra bars, but no one is checking you preferred club status at the doors, anybody can walk in and use them, so why pay for it. If this is your first all inclusive experience, its fine, but once you have seen a few of them, there are much better options out there to choose from

Nelly at the preferred cabanas is the best by far! All the preferred bartenders were great including petter and Alejandro. Angel the butler is also amazing.
