Great resort, accommodated a large group with ease!
Travelled with a group of 18 (kids ranging from 12-20)...tons to do, all had a blast. The resort was clean, the staff was exceptional and the food was fantastic. The restaurants were able to accommodate our large group for dinners with very little wait time. The beach was clean and the beach staff was attentive. We enjoyed everything about our trip. Zero complaints!

Tropical Escape for Foodies and Beach Lovers
Our stay was absolutely incredible and we loved every minute of it. The staff are the real heart of this place; they were so genuinely friendly and helpful that it made the whole atmosphere feel like home. We were really impressed with the food variety too, as every meal felt like a treat with so many great options to choose from. Waking up to the stunning view of the turquoise sea was the perfect reset, and the beach itself is just beautiful. Our room was massive, modern, and kept perfectly clean throughout our stay, which made it feel like a true luxury sanctuary. We’re already planning our next visit! We stayed a bit out of main route so no noise at all.

Don't go for the food
Great service, beach was good but unfortunately the food was a miss for the most part. 95% of the appetizers at the specialty were horrible. Desserts were basically the same as the buffet selection. Italian, Asian and French restaurants were not good at all. Steak and Mediterranean were good, so we dined at both twice. Buffet was good and the service staff outside were the best, especially David. Beach was good 6 of 8 days, even when there was seaweed, it wasn't that bad.

Deeply Disappointing and Unsafe Stay – Shocked by the Conditions and Management’s Indifference- Hyatt Dreams Onyx Resort
My family and I checked into the Hyatt Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa in Punta Cana on 12/24, and our experience was so unsettling that we left the very next day. I’ve traveled extensively and stayed at many Hyatt properties, and I have never felt so uncomfortable, unsafe, or dismissed by a hotel’s leadership. From the moment we arrived, the tone was off. After check in, we were escorted to a room that was in visibly poor condition—worn, uninviting, and located on the first floor directly overlooking an active construction site. Not exactly the relaxing holiday environment we expected for a 7 day, 6 night stay. Still, we tried to make the best of it for our children. But as we explored the resort, things only got worse. Guests were openly smoking in common areas with no staff intervention. At the main pool, we overheard a family making derogatory remarks about Jewish people. As a Jewish family, this was not only offensive—it made us feel unsafe on the property. I raised these concerns with multiple staff members on 12/24 and again during checkout on 12/25. On the morning of 12/25, I spoke directly with the onsite general manager and was only offered a different room. Thankfully, I was able to secure accommodations at another Hyatt property starting on 12/25. Had it been possible to leave on the night of 12/24, we absolutely would have. Once I returned to the United States and started contacting the hotel, I was put in contact with Cheila Rodriguez. Unfortunately, Ms. Rodriguez was not helpful at all. Instead of showing concern, urgency, or even basic empathy, she offered no meaningful solutions. Her indifference was astonishing and completely unacceptable for someone in her position. Given the conditions, the lack of safety, and the dismissive response from management—especially General Manager Cheila Rodriguez—I am appalled with my experience at the Hyatt Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa in Punta Cana. This experience fell far below Hyatt standards and left my family feeling shaken during what should have been a joyful holiday vacation. I strongly urge anyone considering this resort to think twice. Our experience was not just disappointing—it was distressing.

A relaxing and enjoyable stay
We’re currently staying at Dreams Onyx Punta Cana and have had a really great time. We did have a small hiccup when we first arrived, but it was sorted out quickly and professionally and after that everything has ran smoothly. A special mention has to go to Alexis, the Front Desk Manager, who has been fantastic from the start. He arranged a lovely surprise for my husband’s birthday, balloons in the room, a cake and a bottle of fizz, which was a really thoughtful touch. The hotel itself is beautiful and we’re really glad we chose the Preferred Club. The adults only pool is definitely worth it, along with the extra food options and upgraded drinks. The staff around the preferred pool are great, especially Jensy, who makes sure we are well looked after. There’s a really good choice of restaurants. Capers has been our favourite so far and we’re looking forward to trying Spice later in the week. The restaurant staff have all been friendly and attentive, with Carlos, Eddy, Julio and Willy standing out. Our room has been kept spotless throughout our stay, our room maid has done a brilliant job, fresh towels every day and the mini bar always topped up, which we really appreciate. Overall, we’re having a lovely, relaxing stay and feel very well looked after. We’d happily come back and would definitely recommend Dreams Onyx Punta Cana.
