A Relaxing Getaway
We had a great stay at the Majestic Colonial. The resort was beautiful, clean, and well maintained, and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing. The food was good with lots of variety, so there was always something for everyone, whether at the buffet or the à la carte restaurants. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service throughout the resort was solid. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, and everything we needed was easily accessible. Overall, it was a really enjoyable trip with good food, great weather, and a fun, laid-back vibe.

Large, beautiful beach and friendly
Majestic Colonial resort review, Dec. 25, 2025 – Jan 4, 2026 This is, generally, a very nice, all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. To a large extent it is much like any of the few dozen other all-inclusive resorts we have been to in the Caribbean and Mexico over the last 35+ years. This resort was built in 2005 and was the first Caribbean resort built by the Spanish company that owns it. It has just opened another in Mexico. It has a family-friendly side, and an adults-only side called The Club: that’s where we stayed. The grounds are very nice and well-kept. We constantly see folks raking/trimming/watering all over the grounds and they are doing a really fine job. There are many pools with fountains, making for a lovely background sound and nice visuals. We saw a couple of what look like white herons – and they were walking on top of the well-manicured hedges! The restaurants – there are seven of them – are all pretty good. Several are buffet-style. A few are table service. The buffet locations offer an extremely large assortment of food, drinks, desserts etc. The assortments seem considerably larger than any we’ve seen in other resorts. And the New Year’s Eve buffet. OMG! We have never seen that much food in one place. And the variety was simply amazing and delicious We arrived on Christmas day, mid-afternoon. It took almost an hour to get checked in and there was never a reason given for the long wait time. We were assigned a butler, Henry, who has been very attentive and checks in by phone or in person several times a day. The Club (adults-only) area of the resort featured two pools with swim-up bars. The family-friendly area included a very large, meandering pool area with a couple of bars included in the area. This was the place for all pool activities. The very pretty and expansive white sand beach is open to everyone, with an area marked off for The Club members. Like many Caribbean beaches, it suffers from seaweed accumulations. Physically this is a fairly large resort so expect to walk some distance to restaurants etc. ; Google says it has 658 rooms. And it’s 20 years old. So it’s not surprising to see some lapses in maintenance here and there. For example, in a stairway in our building there was a railing that has been detached from its moorings for the first seven days of our visit. It had been pointed out to two employees, but it took over a week to get fixed. The room was quite nice and very large, if somewhat dated in design and accoutrements. It has a small “jacuzzi hot tub” and a landline telephone in the bathroom, not things you’d see in a more modern hotel room. The room included two Majestic baseball caps and a very nice canvas beach bag. The AC is somewhat noisy but worked well. When we entered the room for the first time there was also a bottle of rum, scotch and sparkling wine. We were in a garden view room, and the building was close to the beach. We had a nice balcony with table, two chairs and a drying rack but it was in the process of coming detached from the wall. Very pretty view. Wifi at the resort seems strong and pervasive. The only spotty coverage is at the beach, and even then, only in some locations. On the Club, adults-only side, there was a small lounge area. It featured a nice selection of snacks, sandwiches, fruit, drinks, water, coffees, alcohol, etc. It has several tables set up with various games, and other areas for reading or working on your laptop. There are also a couple of computers available. The staff here was invariably friendly and courteous. Many speak English quite well, and most seem to speak at least a little. Most seem to appreciate our pathetic attempts at Spanish, and we always get a smile and a gracias when we tried. One of us spent a few of our early working years in the hospitality business and so we tried to consistently tip. We bring an envelope of US $1 bills and generally tip at bars, on tables in restaurants, and, at the end of our stay, will left a tip for the folks who take care of our room and for our butler. Special thanks to Loda at the Club beach bar, Marisol & Anabel in the Buffett areas, and, of course, Henry, our butler, who did an amazing job and made our great stay eve n better! Time To sum up, this is a nice all-inclusive resort that includes everything you would expect in a 4- 5-star place. In general, it is very well run, and except for small lapses in maintenance here and there, it is a very nice place staffed with very nice people who, overall, are doing a very nice job keeping 1000+ visitors happy. We’d give it 4.5 stars and would return.

Danny the BEST butler:)
Danny, our butler in the Colonial Club at Majestic Colonial, was truly exceptional and went above and beyond in every possible way. From the moment we arrived, he took care of absolutely everything and made our stay seamless, stress-free, and unforgettable. He checked in with us every single day, was always responsive, and handled all of our reservations with such care and efficiency. He even helped move our rooms and ensured our check-in and check-out process was smooth and effortless. Nothing ever felt like too much to ask—Danny handled everything with confidence, kindness, and professionalism. One of the most special moments of our trip was the beautiful birthday surprise he created for my dad in the room, along with arranging a cake for our dinner. It was incredibly thoughtful and meant so much to our family. Danny truly did everything to make us feel safe, happy, and completely taken care of. Beyond being extremely competent, he is the most lovely, warm, and genuine gentleman. We already miss him and are so grateful for everything he did to make our trip so special. Majestic Colonial is lucky to have him.
