Sep 05, 2025Great time at Sonesta. Friendly staff, comfortable room, very clean and the experience has been nothing but excellent.
We came to celebrate my husband’s birthday and picked this place due to the reviews and I’m so happy we did. It has been amazing. It’s been a great experience. Everyone from the reception to the cleaning crew have been nothing but amazing. They make you feel like it’s your home away from home. Pool is immaculate beach is to die for! Happy hour is so refreshing and fun. Love every minute. I will be coming back for sure. Adrianna and Emmanuel were so attentive during breakfast. You should make sure to ask for them.

Sep 03, 2025Refused Hurricane Accommodation Despite Safety Concerns
Had reservations August 16-19, 2025 during Category 4-5 Hurricane Erin with National Weather Service warnings for San Juan. As a parent traveling with a special needs son, I couldn't risk our safety in hurricane conditions. Hotel staff dismissed this as "just going to be some rain" when I called the morning of August 16th. Manager never returned calls despite multiple requests. No accommodation offered. Discovered Sonesta's Sint Maarten properties waive hurricane cancellation fees for Category 1+ storms, yet Puerto Rico gets no such protection for the same threats. Why do some Sonesta Caribbean guests receive hurricane accommodation while others don't? Staff blamed "third-party booking" as excuse. Guest safety should be universal regardless of booking method. Poor crisis management and inconsistent policies across Sonesta brand. Choose hotels with consistent hurricane protection policies, especially if traveling with family members who have special needs.

Birthday Vacation
Great stay , hotel room was nice , I’ve stayed prior and love the grounds , the pros: hotel room , pool, staff, beach area, valet parking Cons: Atmosphere, no casino, no night life , but everything is within walking distance , Best of all : William at front doors he is a Puerto Rican Icon, have seen him for over 20 years there and make you feel like family ,

Worst resort experience
I don’t know where to begin. Overall over priced everywhere you go inside the resort. Room needed maintenance every night. Breakfast 50$ a plate. Pool closes at 9pm, I mean absolutely no entertainment. I mean when you pay 500+ a night. You’d think there would be things to do or a meal or snacks available.

Perfection!
August 2025 The Royal Sonesta is the only place I will stay in Puerto Rico. The location is prime, the hotel is beautiful and the staff, namely Wanda ,our waitress,from Aleli Restaurant at our daily breakfast and Luis Ramirez from the front desk , were two of the most beautiful, warm and friendly people we have the pleasure of meeting. I highly recommend you ask for both of them. All of the staff is superb but they both were exceptional. Thank you Royal Sonesta! Read less
