Great time by the family
We had a great time at this resort as a family of five (two adults, three teenagers). We had two separate rooms in building 66. We had requested adjoining rooms but the resort didn’t accommodate that request. Our rooms were on the same floor, about ten rooms apart, and it was fine. We arrived at our resort at 2am and the staff brought us a welcome drink even though it was so late. One great feature of this resort was the wristbands – once they are set up by resort staff, you don’t have a room key to worry about – just use the wristbands to access your room. The wristband can be set up to access multiple rooms. The Iberostar app was okay – a little glitchy when booking restaurants. You can see which restaurants are open each day. Wifi worked great throughout the resort. There were concierge staff in every building we saw, and staff were polite and helpful. The beach had almost no sargassum and was beautiful. You could swim in the ocean although there were a few large random rocks in the water. I scraped my kneecap on a rock while riding a wave, which was ultimately my fault. The concierge in my building brought me multiple band-aids without delay once I was back at the room. Our two rooms were large, well decorated, spotlessly clean, and always had fridge beverages re-stocked daily. Filtered water bottles are available to be refilled, and they kept the water fairly cold on the counter. The housekeeping was excellent and thorough, so we were very pleased. Even the hairdryer was powerful and effective. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the gelato station, waterslides, and lazy river every day. The wave pool was only mildly wavy, which was a little disappointing (but it’s probably great for little kids). We later realized there is a larger towel hut where it is easier to exchange towels. The pools aren’t heated and so they felt a bit on the cool side but I liked it given the heat of the day. The pools were very large and never crowded. Several people were throwing footballs to each other in the pools and they were never even that close to other people or impeding anyone given the size of the pools. We enjoyed the foam party that was held one afternoon. There are also ping pong tables (which my kids used a lot) and billiards tables. Guests are always waking up early to claim chairs around the pools and at the beach. It’s unfortunate but it seems to happen at every resort in the Caribbean. We noticed staff coming around a few times to clear off chairs if the guests hadn’t been around in a while. If you want a prime spot, you probably have to wake up really early to claim it with a towel. The staff at every a la carte restaurant always asked us about food allergies, without fail, which is great to see (even though that wasn’t a concern for our family). We enjoyed the restaurants and thought the food was very good. We particularly enjoyed El Rancho and the Asian teppanyaki restaurant. When it rained, you could walk most of the way from the pools back to your room under the covered hallways between buildings, which was appreciated. It is a large complex, so be prepared to walk a lot. That being said, the distance from the rooms to the beach isn’t overly far and it is walkable without a trolley. There were lots of coatis but this is Mexico. We also saw spider monkeys near the beach. We enjoyed the overall layout of this resort. The kids loved the Star Café for the baked goods, and the adults appreciated the coffee. This resort is now our favourite Carribean resort to date. We would come back and do recommend it.

FIVE STAR WINTER BREAK!!
This was a perfect family vacation. We went with our two teenagers and had the best time. From the food to the room to the entertainment - we had a blast from morning to night. Only a few restaurants required reservations and it was super easy to do on the app. They handled New Year's Eve so well - an incredible foam party and shows all night leading to an amazing fireworks dance party across the way. The entertainment crew was so great (Israel, Yoshi, Brenda and the whole crew)! We have traveled a lot, and this was fantastic from start to finish. The only thing my kids missed was winning a "Winner" t-shirt at the pool! I guess we'll have to go back!
