Nice resort =shady and scam driven people

pros- lots for the kids to do, they serve the kids well! Cons- this place is not for vegans or vegetarians. Lots of meat dishes. For non meat eaters, there is lots of salad and that’s about it. BEWARE!! Of the sales people on the resort. They will charge your room for services that you do not get and you have to pay for it, otherwise the resort will not let you leave! If you decide to dispute a charge with your bank they will lie and say you received the services and you had to pay at check out! Iberostar paraiso maya is very shady and scam driven!! Be careful!!

    Not a good experience

We arrived during Members Week (September 1–6) with high hopes, but sadly, the experience left us deeply disappointed. From the moment we got there, it was chaos. We were sent to one location, only to be redirected somewhere else by another staff member. As members—especially during a week meant to celebrate us—they should’ve known exactly where we were supposed to be. We are a huge family and had booked numerous rooms. Somehow, rooms were duplicated, and we had to go back and forth just to get our bracelets reprogrammed and access what we had already reserved. A week before arrival, we were asked our preferences—what kind of bottle we’d like, scheduling massages, etc. But when we arrived, most of our rooms were missing the welcome bottles and snacks altogether—even though we submitted everything ahead of time. What’s worse, we had to ask multiple times—sometimes 5, 6, even 7 times—just to get basic amenities delivered to the rooms. For how much we pay in dues and for this trip, it felt like we were begging for what should’ve been guaranteed. Then there were the Members Week gifts. We received a few shirts, but the sizes were extremely limited. Medium or large for women, large and XL for men. If you were smaller or larger, you got something that didn’t fit or nothing! . No options, no apologies. Meanwhile, we saw other members on social media showing off the amazing gifts they received from the club—and it stung. It was clear: not everyone was being treated the same. We are Double Black members. We’ve invested thousands of dollars, year after year, to be part of this club. We brought our whole family, paid our dues, and expected a week of joy, appreciation, and relaxation. Instead, we felt ignored and undervalued. Some guests who stayed at Joya (the adults-only property) received cool swag for Members Week, as did others at Maya. But the rest of us who stayed at Maya with our children? Many of us got absolutely nothing. How is that fair? We didn’t just feel disappointed—we felt hurt. This week was supposed to be about recognizing and appreciating loyal members, but instead, it made us question why we’re even part of this program. I wouldn’t recommend this membership to anyone unless the resort truly starts treating all members with the same respect and care. We are deciding the best route to start getting out of the contract as they are not holding up to their end of the deal!

    Amazing Family Holiday

What can I say, from start to finish, our 12 nights here was absolutely amazing. Check in and check out was easy, rooms were lovely, clean and spacious. The pools were amazing. The beach was like paradise and there was loads to eat and drink. I would like to mention how amazing the entertainment team were day and night and how much my kids loved the Star camp kids club.. I will definitely be back. If you like some quiet time, then I recommend staying in block 63 as it comes with its own private pool.. Great work Iberostar

    Good.. not great

August 2025 Hi. Another trip to Mexico and another review to share our experiences. We had actually booked another resort but found out very late that there was construction work going on and therefore changed it to Iberostar Paraiso Maya suites. And when we got to this resort, it was also having some construction work (which it did not advertise anywhere). Overall, a good resort.. but there are better resorts in Mexico. We (2 adults and a 12 year old) really needed a break and made the most of a 14 day break. Pros. Large resort. Maya is one of the 4 (and another for Adults only) hotels in the resort. We liked walking around the resort, which is very well maintained. Golf buggies taxi you around the resort if you prefer not to walk. As with any resort in Mexico, staff were great (few with a permanent miserable look ... but such is life). We stayed in a Junior suite with a pool view and most definitely the biggest room we've had in Mexico (8 trips to Mexico to date). Only 30mins from Cancun airport. The hotel app is most impressive. Everything from being notified about your room has been cleaned, to activity schedule, to restaurant bookings etc... its very well done. That's unfortunately where our pros stop. We not saying the below are cons. These just made our experience much less enjoyable. The resort layout could be more friendly to navigate. We learnt Maya and Mar are 'legacy', whereas Beach and Lindo are recently built ... and it shows. Rooms are generally in ok condition but need renovating. The house keeping, although very prompt (kudos), is by very far the worst we've experienced in Mexico. We know (!) that our room was never swept during our 14 night stay. There was often hair still in the shower. Flat surfaces left wet and dirty. And so on! Food, I would say on par with most buffets in Mexico resorts although there were some things on the menu that we've not seen elsewhere such as lobster tails. Whilst the pool daytime entertainment team tries hard, they are very far behind the entertainment teams of other resorts. This was a big thing for us as we really like an active and vibrant pool scene where we have lots of activities with and without children. In this resort the activities are more geared towards children, which the adults can join in. Appreciate some of you would say 'go to the adults only hotel'. All we saying is other resorts have a better balance in having adults only, kids only and mixed activities. Evening entertainment was decent, again very far behind other resorts in Mexico. Whilst the hotel app has a live map showing buggies schedules and location, the buggies themselves are quite unreliable. You can be left waiting for a buggy for quite some time. Member only buggies seem to be 5 times as much as non member only. To be fair member only buggies often gave us a lift when they saw us waiting for a while. BE AWARE.. the teams trying to sign you up to membership is LURKING at check in. We (and we saw many other guests) being caught off guard by this team at check in and ended up having 3 hours of a sales pitch few days later for what a free massage. Its definitely not worth it (in our opinion). We heard such a complaint from many guests that we mingled with. The beach is rocky and full of sea weed, despite the team working hard to remove it. This is arguably across the mexico coast line and therefore most resorts in Mexico are struggling with this. BE AWARE .. the pools have deal bees' daily. Not few... a lot!! Death trap for anyone with an allergy. In summary, a good resort.. worth a look if you are assessing options but personally Barcelo Maya, Grand Princess, Excellence Playa Mujeres and several other (for similar if not cheaper price point) are better value for money.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Vacation Ever at Iberostar Paraíso Maya!

Wow—what an amazing trip! Iberostar Paraíso Maya blew us away with its beautiful pools, fun activities, and delicious food. Everything was perfect for the whole family, especially for my toddler. But the real star of our vacation was Yoania Plasencia. She made us feel so welcome and cared for every single day. From the little details to the big things, Yoania always went the extra mile with such kindness and a genuine smile. Thanks to her, we didn’t just feel like guests—we felt like family. This was one of the best vacations we’ve ever had, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Huge thanks to Yoania and the Iberostar team for making our stay unforgettable!
