Best vacation I’ve ever had

The only thing I did not like was having to sign receipts when on the all inclusive plan and also the giant hill to climb to get to the lodge. Outside of that, this was absolutely amazing. The restaurants were amazing and the food was unbelievable. My SO and I are already planning another trip. Everything was clean and tidy. The rooms were perfect.

Relaxing anniversary

Resort was beautiful, food was delicious and even accommodated my soy vegetarian and gluten free needs. Room was nice and bed was amazing! All staff as well as locals were extremely polite and helpful. Grotto Bay is perfect location to visit both Hamilton and St George. As well there were walkable places from the resort. The caves are a must do! You have to swim in the natural spring. Resort is quiet and entertainment is limited- comedian and storyteller on 2 of 4 nights we were there. We met lots of other couples and chatted pool side or beach or sat on our balcony. The beach is great but very small at high tide. The oceanfront room is really just grass and short walk to beach. Next time I will go for 3rd floor room for amazing views. Definitely do the all inclusive! We are not big drinkers but the food and free bus passes more than made up for the inclusive fee. Additional free use of kayaks and snorkel gear made it a perfect getaway.

Overall value for money

There was a mix-up between the hotel and CC about the inclusive package which necessitated me calling up CC to get it sorted. They were helpful, but it took 40 minutes on the phone which is not the best way to start a vacation. Not sure who was at fault, but it was resolved. Check-in at the hotel is late, expect to get a room 3:30pm-4pm. We arrived at 12:30pm and had lunch, but then other people arriving after us were checked-in before us, so there is no apparent logic there. Our room key was given to us at 3:15pm, but the room was not ready and instead of immediately giving us another room, we had to wait another 45 minutes and only then the manager step-in and offered us another room... The food and drink package all inclusive is totally worth it otherwise the food can get expensive. Transport is super expensive and this hotel is close to bus station. You want to avoid using a taxi. The staff is excellent and work really hard. Super friendly. It is nice that there is a beach at the hotel. Close to airport so very quick in and out. Rooms were clean and had everything you need. beautiful views.

Worth Every Penny

My wife and I decided to splurge this year on our vacation, so this all-inclusive was a bit more than others we have done. Yet it is very much worth it. The Outstanding: --The resort is 2 minutes from the airport. I can't tell you how wonderful that is. We were able to go to the beach and pool on our first day, which has never happened before. --We got checked in very quickly and got to our room in no time. The room where we stayed was very close to the main area and the pool/beach. Never had to go far for anything. --Rooms are gorgeous and the cleaning staff kept them up very well. --The beach is perfect and has plenty of swimming and laying out space. Small thing but I've been to beaches in the Caribbean where the water was actually cold. Not here, at least in August. I swam in the Atlantic for 30-60 minutes every day. --Very spacious pool, which is right by the place you can eat in the daytime. --Service staff everywhere was very friendly and helpful. Occasionally in the restaurants they would get a bit overwhelmed but nothing worth complaining about. They were very attentive, congenial and gave us whatever we asked for. The Pretty Good: --There were 2 places to eat at night (3 on a couple of nights, the third being by the beach and an extravagant buffet) and only one in the daytime. 2 for breakfast though only one was sit down and eat from a buffet type eating. Yet there were plenty of good options on their menus so for a 5 night stay you really don't have to repeat --The food was pretty good. I've had better at other places but I don't really go on these vacations for the food. It was good enough. I ate to my hearts content at the beachside buffets those two nights, that's for sure. (Those two meals were exceptional, it was the rest that was just 'pretty good') The Bad: This isn't a resort issue per se, but around Thursday of our trip (We were there M-Sa) we began to run into the issue of people saving chairs on the beach and by the pool for hours at a time without using them. By placing their towels and other possessions as kind of a dibs (as we say about parking in Chicago). This was frustrating at first. I get it if you are going to eat and don't want to lose your spot for half hour or an hour. But one day my wife and I were in the pool for four hours waiting for chairs to open up and while 80% of were not being used, they all had towels on them. I wish they could do something about it. We eventually learned to fight fire with fire and starting saving our spots early and then going about our day. Which I hate to do that but I don't vacation to have to worry about fighting and waiting over spots. This was mostly a pool thing and not as much a beach thing. You could find beach chairs pretty easily if you were willing to lay out in the sun and not have shade. ALSO... This is probably mentioned on their web site but it should be noted that this is a family resort. That wasn't a big deal for my wife and me but there were times when we were eating and a table of 10 would come in and that made it harder on the servers. But a small thing for sure. Maybe when we have kids we will go back.
