Good value

This was our 3rd time to stay at this resort in the Platinum suite area, which I highly recommend for its proximity to the beach, private consierge area and private pool with tiki hut beds, as well as a private upgraded beach lounge area. This property is great because there is a sand bar in the ocean in front of the resort so you can wade quite far out and still be only waist deep. The seaweed was pretty terrible this time, but it is like that everywhere in the region right now- I don't think it could be helped. It typically cleared up a bit by mid morning so we could still get out on the sand bar area without having seaweed around. The staff said it's the worst in the summer, just fyi. The grounds are lush and clean, the rooms are nice and spacious, and the staff is very helpful. The food taste and quality are lacking a bit, as it is at most all inclusives, I've found, but overall not bad. I stick to the omelet bar at breakfast, snack hut at lunch and we did reservation restaurants at dinner. Miso was the best- the regular oriental menu and the hibachi grill were the best food we ate there. Overall, I think it's a very good value- you get a lot for the price.

Bleh.

I'll start my review with the things I enjoyed... - Amazing customer service from most of the staff. It almost feels like they're being sarcastic from how enthusiastic they're to help at the restaurants. - I loved that the hotel/property had several places that were available to just gather. We were traveling with a large group and we didn't have any issues finding places to sit/chat. - The bellmen/baggage handling process was very organized & quick. We got our bags dropped off and picked-up very fast. - The green & orange buffets were good The things that could've been better: - With the property being as big as it is, the hotel has a little cart that will pick you up at the designated stops and drop you off closer to your room. The carts are often full by the time they get to your stop for pick-up and they only pass by every 15 minutes. We had to wait for the next cart several times and found that they weren't consistently passing every 15 minutes. It would be great if the cart passed more frequently. - The Hotel didn't allow us to call ahead for reservations at the nicer restaurants. They advised we'd have to wait until we arrived and checked-in. The desk to make reservations opens at 2pm and there's a line to wait in once the desk opens. Once we were seen it was challenging to find restaurants that could accommodate our reservation requests. We didn't get to go to the restaurants we wanted to. We arrived on a Tuesday and the first available reservation for any of the restaurants was Thursday late night. This process could be better so that the guests didn't waste so much vacation time waiting in a line and also to allow the larger families/groups to enjoy the nicer restaurants. We had to eat at the buffets most of the nights. - The Mexican restaurant that we were able to make a reservation in advised that if we had more than 10 people that then we'd need to all agree to the exact same menu. We had to split our reservation in to 2 groups (one of 6 & the other of 7). Once we checked-in for the reservation we asked if by chance we could be seated together and still allow us to order from the menu so everyone's specific requests could be accommodated. The hostess advised that they'd allow us to do that if we agreed to pay for at least a bottle of wine. We did that but I don't think we should've had to considering they had the space for us. It was just a way for the staff to make some extra money I assume. - The property doesn't have enough elevators. If you're traveling with older guests then this is not the place for you. - The staff around the property doesn't have up to date information. We got wrong information often. When we asked where the elevators were, what time the pools closed, what time the gift shop opened, etc. We'd ask the staff we'd come across and they'd give us information but we stopped asking because it was often wrong. So we found that calling "reception" was the best bet, but expect to wait on the phone to connect. - The WiFi OFTEN disconnects. Be prepared to have to keep reconnecting. - Make sure to call housekeeping if you'd like your room serviced by a certain time because 2 of the days they didn't come and clean our room even though there wasn't a sign on the door to prevent them from stepping in.

Worse service ever

The resort is nice but they don’t have control when your checking in, staff at the hotel are not friendly, it looks like they don’t love what they do, they need to improve on the food, it was almost the same all the time and checkin was suppose to be at 3 I got mine almost 5, they never said sorry. The beach is not so good there it has a lot of rocks when your getting in. I recommend you stay in Cancun not on Rivera maya

Grab cones from the ice-cream parlor and check out the nightly entertainment at Princess Theatre. Want to catch the game at 5th Avenue Sports Bar or show off your moves at Areito Disco? Drop the kids off at the evening Mini Club, where video games and a kids' disco offer them fun, while you're free to have yours.

The fun keeps coming with all inclusive water sports: kayaking, windsurfing or snorkeling. With a Mini Club for children and Funtastic Teen's Club for older kids, you're free to take advantage of the Spa Princess. The royal treatment continues at Grand Princess on the Riviera Maya; each suite offers elegant decor in spacious settings and fully stocked mini bars. We recommend the Jr. Suite Deluxe for families: it's big enough for everyone and the bathroom has a Jacuzzi. Environmental Levy Fee
The Municipalidad of Solidaridad in the Rivera Maya is one of the most beautiful places in the Mexican Caribbean. Tourism has been instrumental in driving the economic and social development of the region. In an effort to continue to preserve, conserve and beautify the destination, the Municipality of Solidaridad has implemented a small environmental levy on visitors effective September 1, 2017. Hotels will collect 20 Mexican pesos per room per day on check out; the proceeds will be deposited in an environmental trust to fund local projects. The Municipalidad of Solidaridad thanks you for your understanding and support of this worthwhile endeavor. Thank you and enjoy your visit.
