I wish I had not waited 15 years to return to Cancun.
Checking in was a breeze. Nice room...3115...Great location. Oceanview balcony. Great vibe at this resort. As a widow, the staff was constantly checking in. I thought that was kind. The guests were from all over the world and fun. Young people nicknamed me abuelo, grandfather. Danced 5 out 7 nights until 1am in the lobby bar/disco with young folks. I realized that at 68 keeping up with the youth of the world wore me out. So, during my second week, I decided to stick to dinner, shows, and an after-dinner drink with my new adult friends. As a matter of fact, I was frequently invited to join folks for lunch, dinner and the shows. Now regarding the shows, they were at least as good as what we see on cruises. My favorite was the circus. Now many of these reviews negatively criticize the food. I disagree. For breakfast, you have a lot of choice and I had freshly made omelets and to die for fruit. Lunch offered freshly grilled meats and seafoods and salads that had so much flavor. Here's my buffet restaurant tip. I do not eat from chafing dishes unless it's freshly arrived. Also, food is lightly seasoned because our flavor preferences vary based on the country we come from. However, you can find every condiment you might wish for. Regarding the restaurants, the mexican seafood restaurant is really quite good. I ate there for breakfast and dinner five times. The Italian restaurant has very good filet mignon. That's all I had there as I eat Italian at home. The asian hibachi restaurant was good too. The regular options not so much. Honorable mention to the food and beverage manager who runs a tight ship and checked on me from time to time. I typically do not eat desert. Unfortunately, they were excellent and I splurged. Kudos to the executive pastry chef as well. Additional kudos to Jorge, my butler, to Ignacio, lobby bartender, Yalina, buffet hostess, and Karina, my beach waitress. I have been traveling to Mexico for 43 years. I highly recommend this resort. I received great value overall. The place is clean and well maintained. By the way, the beach is spectacular.

Less than good for a Luxury Resort
I recently stayed at Grand Park Royal Cancun and overall it was an average experience with some clear highs and lows. The biggest frustration was the check-in and check-out process — both took over 30 minutes, which was exhausting after traveling and disappointing when trying to leave on time. On top of that, the unexpected timeshare sales pitch felt overbearing. What was initially presented as a brief welcome turned into ongoing pressure throughout our stay, which really took away from the relaxation factor. The food was also underwhelming for an all-inclusive resort. While it wasn’t terrible, it definitely didn’t meet expectations in terms of variety or quality. That said, the location is fantastic — right on a beautiful stretch of beach — and the resort itself is well-maintained and visually appealing. The service staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made a positive difference. In short, it’s a decent resort with a great setting and good service, but the long wait times, sales pressure, and mediocre food would make me think twice before returning.

A Good Value
We keep coming back to this resort a couple of times a year. The food in the Buffet is better than most, and the restaurants are excellent. Make sure you go to the hibachi during your st ay, good food and entertainment. They are doing a lot of renovations to this resort, a new main pool and swim up bar, plus a new look for the lobby. The rooms are getting facelifts also. The staff are all friendly and helpul.

Beautiful Grounds - Food Subpar
The grounds are extraordinary - easily the most nature-forward and beautiful I’ve seen in the Zone. The staff are kind and hardworking. Those two strengths are what hold this at 4 stars. The two big disappointments were the room not matching the “separate bedroom” description and the overall boring food (aside from the excellent Mexican restaurant). If those improve, this could be an easy 5-star experience for the kind of traveler who values nature, landscaping, and a calm tropical atmosphere.

Was profiled for having weed and locked out of room; then surveillanced after proven innocent
Just what title says. We are non smokers. Neighbors smelled smoked reported us. We came back to the room and our keys stopped working. Had to walk back to reception where were then embarrassingly escorted by security where they entered our room. Even after being found innocent, our room keys still were not reactivated until our final morning. When we walked out for breakfast, we saw a security guard waiting outside of our room who was kind, but asked us to not smoke if we were. Ruined my birthday evening to be treated like criminal on vacation. Its also worth noting that you can see people smoking on their balconies from the beach, it could have been any of the people on the floor. Yet we were singled out, and it felt like racial profiling.
