Don't waste your money, seriously these reviews fooled us too...

We stayed at Grand Park Royal Cancun – All Inclusive for three nights after booking based on reviews that claimed decent food and a nice property. We could not disagree more. From the moment we arrived, the experience went downhill. The salespeople pushing their club or timeshare were relentless, pushy, and incredibly annoying. It set the tone for the entire stay. The first room we paid for was unacceptable. The light didn’t work, and the room had a weird, unpleasant smell. The property itself is old, outdated, and clearly overdue for renovations. Nothing about it felt premium or worth the price we paid. The restaurants were extremely limited, and good luck getting reservations. We tried to book the hibachi 30 minutes after reservations opened at 8 a.m. and it was already full. The food overall was horrible. It was often cold, poorly prepared, and at times honestly inedible. Service was painfully slow everywhere. Waiting to be seated, waiting to order, and waiting for food took far too long. We tried to be patient, but it was exhausting and not worth the money we paid for really gross and cold food in the end. This is including the buffet which was horrible, the breakfast at the "italian" restaurant, and the lunch/snack bar food. Because the experience was so bad, we left the resort every single day just to eat and enjoy ourselves elsewhere. That alone says everything. Paying for an all-inclusive and feeling the need to escape daily is ridiculous. The alcohol was low quality, which we expected to some extent at an all-inclusive, but combined with everything else it just added to the disappointment. To make things worse, there were tons of kids everywhere. They were screaming and running around constantly. If you don’t have kids, this is absolutely not the place for you. Do yourself a favor and book an adults-only resort. We also had no hot water the first time we tried to shower and were forced to take cold showers. Overall, this place was expensive, gross, outdated, and a complete waste of money. For the price we paid, the experience was unacceptable. We will never return and strongly recommend you do not waste your time or money here.

Overall a Wonderful stay, but some issues

We have stayed at this resort a few times, and, as always, we had an excellent stay on this trip. The food at the restaurants were very good. The food at the buffet was good, but typical for any resort buffet. The service throughout the resort was very good, and SO friendly. We must recognize Yajahira, Alecia at La Grande, Patty and Mario at R.H. and Dulce (swimsuit designer) for making our stay special. The pool areas, pool bars, fun activities, rooms were all very enjoyable. I would like to comment on the New Years Eve "party". It was terrible. And everyone I talked to the next day agreed. It was not a party, but, instead, it was a "show." Basically- we all sat at tables with people we didn't know and watched the performers hang upside down from ropes for two hours; then had a 10 second countdown. Everyone we talked to would have preferred a dance band instead of a "show." Also, the restaurant menu for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve was not satisfactory (sad actually). Aside from the New Years Eve "show" I would highly recommend the resort!

    Great value!

The resort is located in a very convenient location! It is one of the cleanest resorts I have ever stayed in… from the rooms, to the restrooms and everywhere inbetween! The staff is constantly working to ensure areas are clean and manicured! The specialty restaurants were superb! We enjoyed every meal. The buffet restaurant was not appetizing to us personally. We tried it several times and certainly preferred the specialty restaurants! Pools and setting are beautiful! The rooms were so clean and comfortable! We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend!

The worst experience of our lives

This was a very disappointing stay from start to finish. • The pool water was freezing cold, almost no one used it • There was no guidance at all — no map, no clear information about activities, attractions, or amenities. • It’s almost impossible to reserve restaurants. You are forced to waste a huge amount of time waiting in lines. • The hibachi restaurant is the worst example: you have to wake up very early just to stand in line to reserve, and even then, we never managed to get a spot because availability is extremely limited. • The food overall is just okay, nothing memorable or worth the hassle. • Hot water was completely off for an entire day, which is unacceptable. • Information is confusing and inconsistent — every employee gives a different answer. • Wi-Fi is really bad, barely usable. • Beer was hot every afternoon at the pool bar. • Room service has no menu, so you have no idea what you can order. The New Year’s Eve party was especially frustrating. We were forced to buy a sparkling wine costing over $300 just to reserve a table, but once at the event we realized other guests were offered much cheaper options — or no purchase at all — and still had access to the show. This felt unfair and misleading. Overall, the experience was disorganized, poorly managed, and not worth the money. I would not recommend this resort.

A beautiful place to spend your vacation!

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. I got a VIP room, and the room was very spacious, comfort and with a Jacuzzi tub, and the balcony right by the beach and ocean. The staffs cleaned the room twice a day, and they were extremely nice and friendly. On the first night, there was a leak from the Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom all the way to our beds, so our clothes, shoes were wet; Also, the shower drainage was clogged and the shower became very smelly. However, these two issues were fixed right away, and we were very thankful about their efficiencies :) The hotel offered the greatest view 360 degree, from our room, from the pool and from the VIP lounge!!! The food in the VIP lounge is great, especially the breakfast :) The hotel also offered a number of activities and shows, and we really enjoyed watching their fire show and their music and BINGO night! :) With all those great things being said about this hotel, if I have to complain, I think the food could be better, especially the private dinnings. While we were totally fine with the continental buffet, the Mexican food, the Japanese fusion food, and to some extend, the Italian food could be improved. With such a high price tag during Christmas, I have expected more authentic food than we had there. But I probably shouldn't be complaining since the amount of visitors the hotel was facing to entertain must be huge. Overall, we love this hotel and would for sure recommend to our friends.
