Had a great vacation

Family vacation with our two year old. Drive is a little more than an hour from the airport, but feels faster. Resort was nice/ If you are at the White Sand, the pool is surrounded by a lagoon, so you don't have immediate beach access as in the adjacent Colonial. But it's the quieter, less crowded resort, so pick what suites you best, Would wanted to be at neither during main season. These are large resorts. Staff was very friendly. Food was good, no complaints. Speciality restaurants. Liked Ribs & More the best. Lodging was good, though you may end up in a party place (not sure how night hours are kep) which may mean you get most of your sleep during the day. Lots of wildlife. Child care. We had counted on the baby center to help us enjoy the vacation. but our son did not want to stay there. if you have an smaller child, crawling age, it will be OK, or one that is more toward the three year old limit for the baby center, it would be OK too. They basically let the TV run all the time and often have kids there much older than the cut-off that are a bit rough with the young ones. Staff does not really interact with the young ones, but rather hopes they entertain each other and/or watch TV. Was a bit disappointed when we got called back 30 mins in because our son would not stop crying to find him completely wet and thirty. Pools were large and fun. Much entertainment. Beach was completed packed with seaweed every morning, caused the entire area to smell as they tried to cart it off every day, Bars. We got what we wanted when we wanted. Some times you have to wait a few mins, that's OK. All in all, would go back. We got a good deal and if you get a bargain price, don't exept the Ritz,

2nd time there and last time there

We were there in April of 2017 and took our entire family last week for a celebration vacation. We had fun as a family but were very disappointed in many aspects of the resort that drew us back for a 2nd visit. Their attention to details were not there this time. We had two rooms and the maid service would not leave clean towels for the one room so we had to keep giving them our towels. We called numerous times for more towels and were told that they would be delivered but that never happened. One of our rooms did not have A/C when we arrived and it took 3 phone calls and 3 different people to finally fix it at 11:00pm. The front desk was great and helpful, but the rest of the staff was not as friendly as the last time that we were there. We started to notice after day 2 that unless you were a guest at the TRS all adult resort that you were treated as second rate guest - this included being at the White Sands Resort where we were staying. The beach at the White Sands smelled horrible. Overall, we were very disappointed in the White Sands Resort compared to our first vist there just over a year ago.

Grand Palladium/White Sands, attending a wedding

I gotta tell ya', this resort went above and beyond any expectations we had! From the moment we arrived at the White Sands we felt important. Every question we had, they answered knowledgeably. From the room, to the restaurants, to the bars and the beach, everything was clean and worked together like a well oiled machine. A very organized and patient staff. The food was yummy and plentiful and the drinks kept flowing. We were attending a wedding and the wedding planner and her staff.... spot on! Kind, gracious and attentive. Waitresses all over the resort were sweet, drivers in the shuddles were helpful and flexible. Even the excursion guides were fun and easy, The grounds keepers were always aware of your presence and stopped whatever they were doing until you passed by, A pretty cool place to chill. Thank you Grand Palladium / White Sands Resort for making us want to return. 10 stars **********

Beautiful resort but..

This a great resort for the price and comfort level. The suites are very nice and if your lucky enough to get a Mayan Suite at the White Sands, please do so! My only two small complaints are that It is a bit spread out and over an hour from the Cancun Airport. The specialty restaurants are good but the buffet, snack bar, and room service food are just okay. Pools are great but the beach is a bit messy with all the seaweed. They clean it every day but its still not a nice site on vacation. Maybe clean the seaweed a couple times a day or more.

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive and all-incredible - there's something epic for every beach lover.

Their coolio "Stay at one, play at four" plan expands your vacay playground, big time. And, you won't need reservations at any of the restaurants.

The natural freshwater canal surrounding the resort - hypnotic and dreamy.

Melting at the Zentropia spa with vapor baths and stress-ousting massages amid waterfalls.

The Brazilian steakhouse and Sunset Boulevard disco - not necessarily in that order.

What We'd Change

Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa is really big but beautiful. Trekking from one part of the complex to another feels more like an adventure than a chore.

Why You Should Go

It's 50 miles from Cancun airport. It's a drive, but you'll forget this when you see the beach.

Updates to the resorts are coming soon - you'll have to come back and see the facelift!

Don't miss the beachfront BBQ and live music on Friday nights.

Kids' Clubs are available to give you a breather, should you need one.

Resort Update
Palladium Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to upgrade its Riviera Maya Complex throughout 2017, including incorporating the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa into The Royal Suites Yucatan. This transformation will be completed in various phases starting on June 1, 2017. Construction will mostly take place within the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa and will have minimal impact. All guestrooms within the hotel, the rocky walkway along the water & the salt water pool area will be closed to all guests during the completion of the project. All other areas including the Riviera Lobby, Disco & Theatre, El Jardin Restaurant and the current The Royal Suites Lobby will be closed during certain dates listed below. During times of closure, the areas will not be accessible to guests and should therefore not impact the guest experience.

Below is a complete project timeline:

Disco & Theatre:
June 1-November 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress in the Disco and Theatre of the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa. During this time, alternate entertainment venues will be provided to guests. Once construction to the Disco and Theatre are complete, the Disco will convert to become one of four exclusive restaurants available to guests of The Royal Suites Yucatan and the Theatre will become the second exclusive restaurant providing guests with a Dinner and Show themed experience referred to as the Cabaret.

Riviera Lobby and Kabah Buffet:
June 1-September 15, 2017: Construction will be in progress at the current Riviera Lobby which will convert to the new The Royal Suites Lobby. Guests will not be affected by this construction since all guestrooms in Riviera will be closed. All hotel services will be available at the adjoining White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah Lobbies.

Construction will also be in progress at the Kabah Buffet. During this time, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at La Laguna as well as the other restaurants within the Riviera Maya Complex.

The renovated Kabah Buffet will feature 2 separate sections (1 buffet exclusively available to guests of The Royal Suites and 1 for guests of Grand Palladium).

El Jardin Restaurant & the current The Royal Suites Lobby:
September 16-December 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress at El Jardin restaurant and the current lobby of The Royal Suites. The current lobby for The Royal Suites will convert into 2 separate a la carte restaurants. By this time, the new lobby for The Royal Suites will be open at its new location and the buffet will be available at Kabah.

Environmental Levy Fee
The Municipalidad of Solidaridad in the Rivera Maya is one of the most beautiful places in the Mexican Caribbean. Tourism has been instrumental in driving the economic and social development of the region. In an effort to continue to preserve, conserve and beautify the destination, the Municipality of Solidaridad has implemented a small environmental levy on visitors effective September 1, 2017. Hotels will collect 20 Mexican pesos per room per day on check out; the proceeds will be deposited in an environmental trust to fund local projects. The Municipalidad of Solidaridad thanks you for your understanding and support of this worthwhile endeavor. Thank you and enjoy your visit.
