Dominican Republic-very clean, green. Efforts to protect environment. People are very friendly, helpful, sing a lot!! Resort-very clean. Size was no problem to us-short walks, and there is a train that goes between resorts frequently. Lots of staff every where, very helpful, friendly, always a smile. They remember your drink preferences and such at the restaurants. We only ate at the buffets--SOOO many food choices!! Most of what we ate was tasty and good. Grill fresh meats and fish for you right there Food fresh with frequent restocks. Some things vary night to night on the buffets, but there are so many choices we could not sample everything in a week!! Beach very nice-plenty of chairs, plenty of room. Remember this is on the Atlantic Ocean, so the water is murkier, and not the beautiful blues and greens and calm of the Caribbean Sea. Yes, there is a coral reef off shore, but you cannot go there. The beach area is roped off and then there is a lot of boat traffic ( excursions, parasailing, fishing boats) between the beach ropes and the reef. Would not want to go out there thru that! Beach is busy with locals selling excursions and trinkets and several shops down the beach but a polite 'no thank you' and they move on. Things to do thru the day (dance classes, darts, yoga, etc). We are into nature and animals and flowers, so our only complaint was that there were so few creatures around. We are used to seeing iguanas, lizards, frogs, lots of birds, sometimes slightly feral cats or dogs. Only a few birds in a week. We would go again for sure!

Our favorite getaway

We live in the Snowy city of Syracuse New York. This resort has been our vacation go to 3 times now and promise to come back again and again.Surely meets all our desires and more. The Palladium group takes much pride in taking care of everything possible plus more. The pools, the grounds, the sand and beach are world class. We even found this particular trip satisfactory with our 2 year old. Plenty of kids entertainment too. Not once did we feel let down in any way. We have had other couples come along in the past and will come back soon whether alone or with others. Such a relief to know that there is a slice of heaven still left on earth.

Decent Resort for the Money

This resort was ok in my book. I believe there were certain wait staff/bartenders that did an excellent job and those few went above and beyond our expectations. The rest of the staff we had a bit of a hard time with. There was a language barrier (the staff spoke Spanish and our group English). In the main buffet by the lobby it was hard to get drinks and some meals were finished before we were even approached. The Bohio Buffet had much better service as did the pool bar right outside of the Bohio restaurant. The first 4 days we were there the adult pool was unusable. The water was so low the filters were not able to work. I'm not sure if this was from the storm or the way this pool is. By the 5th day they had this pool cleaned and filled. Once that was done, this was the nicest of the pools they had! I'm so glad they fixed it, I only wish it could have been done earlier in our stay. I believe the entertainment committee could have been better. I kept reading all of these things they offered yet when we were wandering around the resort we were unable to find them. The POP could have done better at getting the crowds involved. My favorite thing we did there was the foam party in the pool. That was something I've never experienced. There was also one on the beach the next day but I missed that one. The disco was fun and the staff did a good job of getting people on the dance floor there. We were there just after hurricane Irma and I want to mention the resort did a great job of cleaning up. They had a tropical storm there with high winds yet when we arrived on the 7th it looked as though they simply had a storm. When we booked our stay we were not told there were going to be restaurants closed for remodeling so that was a bit of a disappointment. I believe they could have done better at communicating that and offering a discount or an opportunity to reschedule at no extra charge. Overall I thought the resort was nice but I feel there is definitely room for improvement. If you get a deal on this resort book it, you won't be disappointed but if you go here looking for a 4 or 5 star resort you may want to look elsewhere.
