Amazing time at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton

We just got back from a Spring Break week at the Lady Hamilton with our 6 adult children (20-24 years old) and we all had a fantastic time! The resort itself is very well maintained and clean. All throughout the day workers were in constant motion whether it be raking debris on the beaches, pruning trees, cleaning sidewalks, etc. It was clearly a priority and that showed. The restaurants offered plenty of variety from Indian to Asian cuisine and everything in between. While the resort was busy, it wasn't overcrowded so we were able to eat in a sit-down restaurant every day of our stay with a group of 8. I think the most we waited was an hour and even then, it was easy to sit at one of the many bars nearby to wait. I would say the food was a little above par for a typical all-inclusive but nothing was awful nor hit my "amazing food" category either. The one standout was the Jerk Hut chicken. Mmm Mmm - it was delicious! The entire staff was extremely friendly and did a great job of being available but not overbearing. They had activities going on the beach and by the pool but it was up to you whether you wanted to participate and they always made it fun. Not only that, we felt incredibly safe the entire time we were there and never once had any concerns around the resort at all. We typically spent our mornings at the beach, took advantage of the free water sports available like the Hobie and paddleboards and then went to the pool in the afternoons to enjoy the bigger crowd, music, pool bar, etc. We watched the shows each evening and hung out at a few of the late night parties and all were a blast. We really had no complaints and would definitely go back.

Main pool area Sunset Beach - our favorite hangout

Good for families or older couples

We stayed at the Lady Hamilton from 3-15-2018/3-21-2018, we liked the resort, it’s very beautiful and nicely maintained. The staff is amazing. The people that perform in the shows are very talented and work hard. I hope they are paid well! The shows are fairly cheesy though but we did enjoy the Jamaican show the most. There was a lot of twerking happening but maybe that’s just their style of dance?! Not sure but I felt kind of bad for the people with little kids in the front row. The resort needs more entertainment. After the 9:30 show is over they usually have a band or something at the infinity bar but literally that is it. Our first night here there was nothing after the show and we went back to our room early. That’s my biggest complaint about this resort. It’s kind of boring. If you are ok just laying in the sun all day this is the place for you. The drinks were AMAZING. The food was so so. It wasn’t amazing, it wasn’t terrible. The best food we had was at the Italian and the steak house. There is one restaurant that you need a reservation for and they were totally booked our whole stay which I didn’t feel was fair. I think the resort should just book everyone staying one night at the hibachi so you are guaranteed a night to dine there. If you cannot make it that night at least you had an option. We didn’t even get an option. We booked the lady Hamilton one bedroom suite with a partial ocean view online and paid more for it. When we reached the resort we were told that the room I booked doesn’t have an ocean view unless we upgraded again... hmmm. So we had to pay another $125 at check in to have a view of the ocean. I feel like I paid twice for this. Our ocean view was amazing from both the living room and bedroom balconies so I think it was worth it but I was kind of put out by that. We were also given a voucher booklet that we could barely use anywhere that was pretty worthless. We were also promised a free bottle of wine for our room upgrade and despite asking 4 times about said bottle of wine it is our last day here and we still have yet to see it. I find this pretty terrible. They shouldn’t promise something to someone and not deliver it. Especially when someone has called and asked about it numerous times. I even asked the hotel manager... still no bottle of wine. They have some games around the infinity pool but besides the beach volleyball I felt the resort was more geared towards children. They have some water sports like paddle boats, paddle boards etc that you can use for free but the life jackets they give you to use are extremely dirty and smelled TERRIBLE. Literally smelled like a homeless person. I could barley stand it and came right back to the room and showered after. It was plain gross. They really need to clean and sanitize them. They were nasty. They do a good job for kids entertainment but not a lot for adults. The town the resort is in has nothing to do either. We rented a taxi and driver one day and went to Negril... so fun! Highly recommend. If we come back to Jamaica we will stay in Negril for sure. There is a lot of peddling and soliciting at the 7 mile beach in Negril though and there is none of that at The Grand Palladium. We enjoyed our vacation but I feel if we stayed in Negril we would’ve had more fun. Great resort if you are coming with your family or maybe your honeymoon when you don’t want to fraternize with others.

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive, all-beautiful and all you'd ever want in a beach vacay. Swoon.

The 86,000 sq. ft. infinity pool with four Jacuzzis. You could hang here the entire time & be just fine.

Reservations are not required at any of the restaurants.

Modeled after Roman baths, the epic spa's stress-busting massages, Turkish baths & more.

Teeing off at the renowned Tryall Country Club that's just 10 minutes away. Schwing.

Swooning over the panoramic view of the pool and teal ocean from the Blue Lagoon restaurant.

What We'd Change

The resort is built in rugged country, so the man-made beaches are rocky. Even so, the area is beautiful, and with five pools, finding a place to swim is no problem.

Why You Should Go

It's about 40 minutes from the airport - blink and you'll have a chilly drink in your hand.

You can hop on catamarans, kayaks, pedal boats, snorkeling & windsurfing 100% FREE.

Volleyball, tennis & aerobics are available for calorie burning. (Dip into the ocean to cool off.)

Dunn's River Falls is not too far away and is a must-splash. Jump in.

Since these are villa-style, three-story buildings, there are no elevators. Better than a stair-climber.
