I loved the resort. Only downfall was my refrigerator in my room did not work at all and it was never fixed. The bathroom sink drain was very clogged and this was never fixed even after expressing concerns about it. There is no night life on this resort. All activities are basically shut down at midnight except for bars and pools. The staff was amazing! I have never received such great service. Everyone was nice and eager to please. I had the time of my life! There were a few bumps but i would definitely stay again.

Treated like princesses!!

This was the best vacation I have ever been on. We stayed 5 nights and 6 days and I could have stayed another week and still had new experiences every day!! You have to find your drink of choice and stick with that and try A new restaurant each night because they are all different! The staff at the resort was the best part! Everyone was so friendly and helpful and never got the vibe that we were a burden! Cecilio the bellboy at Kantenah was our most favorite! He was genuinely concerned with our stay being as amazing as possible. I have always said I won’t return to the same vacation destination twice because there are so many places I want to visit, but the grand palladium Rivera maya changed my thoughts completely! I would book this same to the same resort next week in a heartbeat (but can’t get off work that soon :()!

Not my Best Purchase Ever

Arrived on Saturday morning. Once we survived the solicitations at the airport for excursions and time-share opportunities, our hopes of a great vacation remained somewhat optimistic. After a 1:15 drive and 2 drop-offs; we were met with friendly staff at the Kantanah...things were looking up. The staff did a great job at check-up in...cold towels, fruit drinks, and smiling faces. We arrived their at noon, so I room wasn't to be ready till 3pm - no worries we had our suits, the skies were blue, and were were off to grab a bite at the buffet and drinks poolside. It went downhill from there. The buffet food: The number one reason we will not got back. There was plenty of variety, great presentation, and lots of everything; unfortunately, it didn't taste good. Nothing looked like it was suppose to... the beef was ?beef?. Thank goodness for plenty of salad and fruit which we were able to survive on through the weekend. Oh yeah...breakfast was good....hard to mess up eggs. We tried the dining experience. We made our first reservations at the NEW Seafood Dining Facility. That was a joke. We were greeted at our table by a Raccoon begging for food. The waiter was fun, but didn't understand English - he though he did and answered everything with a smile and "Si". The food choices were by number.....who knows??? None of the fish choices were by the type of fish. I ordered Fish Soup and some sort of Fish. The soup was "Fishy" and the "Fish" was overcooked - I think it was Tuna. We were polite and sat for a minute as other quests came and went with the same concerned look. We didn't dare eat the food; and figured Rocky Raccoon wasn't going to go hungry tonight. We left a nice tip on the table and sneaked out the back. The room was nice and tropical. Loved the outside shower, but thought the quests above us to the right and left may have enjoyed watching us more. The room was smaller than we'd expected for the "Mayan Suites" upgrade and quite a bit an off the beaten path. The Air Conditioning was on in the "most the time" as were the mosquitos and smell of sewer. I recommend you bring plenty of bug spray and masks....you'll be fine. Once we figured out the primary mode of transportation was the the golf cart guys, we reduced the number of bites and putrid sewer odor to a minimum. The pool was, by far, the best part. Unfortunately the limited access to cocktails and friendly bartenders caused me to give it a 3 instead of a 5. The ratio of people to bartenders was 25:1. Good thing is....you don't get a drunk in the pool. We did during one of our walk-around ventures, finally discovered the Pool Secreto...same ratio of people to bartender, but friendlier. We were there for a wedding. Good friends always makes the best of bad occasions. The execution was disappointing. Apparently wedding happen here quite often, the the staff that does the activations seemed quite bored with the whole routine. I'd take this off my list if you have any thought of a wedding destination. Bottom line is.....we will never go back and we will encourage others not to stay here. It was our first time to Mexico. Most of my friends and family rave about going to Cancun, so it must have just been where we stayed. I'll take Jamacia, BVI, Dominican Republic, anywhere really, over this. Lesson Learned.

Would we go back? Yes!

We were greeted with a fruity drink and a cold towel upon our arrival. We were pleasantly surprised to have our room upgraded at check-in to the Colonial section. The staff was always cheerful, polite and helpful. Many wonderful nature sounds to listen to while sitting on our patio in the mornings. The resort is sprawling with many paths throughout. It took a day and a half to get to know our way around, but many times we were offered a ride by the staff driving by in the quiet golf cart taxis. Zentropia Spa is marvelous. We spent two days there. The hydrotherapy, lazy river, and quiet pool are relaxing enough; add a massage and you will be floating. Get a ginger shot at the Health Bar for good measure. Pay a fee to spend the day, or book a treatment and spend the day included, either way it's worth it. If it is entertainment and activities you seek, you won't have to look far. During the day the activity group offers something fun and different every hour around the pool area. So much energy and enthusiasm. Every evening there is a different show on the Colonial main stage. The dance troupe is very talented with a wide variety of music and elaborate costume changes. There are bands and musicians playing at different times of the day at the bars, at the pools, at the beach. In the evenings you'll find music in the lobby. The White Party on the beach (usually Monday night) is music, dancing, and a fire show. Our favorite restaurants were the Italian Portofino (outdoor seating by the river), the Asian Sumptuori, and the seafood Punta Emilia; a big surprise to us on the beach – by day a lunch spot, by night fine dining, who knew!. The steak restaurant El Dorado was good, but it took very long to get our meal. Would we go back? Yes!

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive and all-aahmazing - a beachtastic wonderland.

All the restaurants are reservation-free. You can show up on your own schedule.

The Zentropia spa with Swedish massage & the cold bath "eco-meditative" treatment. Brace yourself.

Relaxing in the hammock area and booze snoozing it for an afternoon.

The food options - if you're gluten-free or have allergies they've got a special menu.

Hanging out at the turtle nesting area - you'll love these sweet little babies.

What We'd Change

Your legs might hurt after all the walking you'll do here, but the beautiful 300-acre property and all the perks that come with booking make it too good to pass up.

Why You Should Go

It's 50 miles south of Cancun airport. It's a drive, but when you arrive, you won't want to leave.

The grounds are massive, so you'll be hoofing it a lot, but there are shuttles to cart you around.

You get four resorts for the price of one - three other Grand Palladiums are a coconut's throw away.

Bring water shoes. Most of the beach is great, but it's rocky where you might want to snorkel.

Six tennis courts along with wave after wave of water sports like kayaking, water polo & more.

Resort Update
Palladium Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to upgrade its Riviera Maya Complex throughout 2017, including incorporating the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa into The Royal Suites Yucatan. This transformation will be completed in various phases starting on June 1, 2017. Construction will mostly take place within the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa and will have minimal impact. All guestrooms within the hotel, the rocky walkway along the water & the salt water pool area will be closed to all guests during the completion of the project. All other areas including the Riviera Lobby, Disco & Theatre, El Jardin Restaurant and the current The Royal Suites Lobby will be closed during certain dates listed below. During times of closure, the areas will not be accessible to guests and should therefore not impact the guest experience.

Below is a complete project timeline:

Disco & Theatre:
June 1-November 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress in the Disco and Theatre of the current Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa. During this time, alternate entertainment venues will be provided to guests. Once construction to the Disco and Theatre are complete, the Disco will convert to become one of four exclusive restaurants available to guests of The Royal Suites Yucatan and the Theatre will become the second exclusive restaurant providing guests with a Dinner and Show themed experience referred to as the Cabaret.

Riviera Lobby and Kabah Buffet:
June 1-September 15, 2017: Construction will be in progress at the current Riviera Lobby which will convert to the new The Royal Suites Lobby. Guests will not be affected by this construction since all guestrooms in Riviera will be closed. All hotel services will be available at the adjoining White Sand, Colonial and Kantenah Lobbies.

Construction will also be in progress at the Kabah Buffet. During this time, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available at La Laguna as well as the other restaurants within the Riviera Maya Complex.

The renovated Kabah Buffet will feature 2 separate sections (1 buffet exclusively available to guests of The Royal Suites and 1 for guests of Grand Palladium).

El Jardin Restaurant & the current The Royal Suites Lobby:
September 16-December 1, 2017: Construction will be in progress at El Jardin restaurant and the current lobby of The Royal Suites. The current lobby for The Royal Suites will convert into 2 separate a la carte restaurants. By this time, the new lobby for The Royal Suites will be open at its new location and the buffet will be available at Kabah.

Environmental Levy Fee
The Municipalidad of Solidaridad in the Rivera Maya is one of the most beautiful places in the Mexican Caribbean. Tourism has been instrumental in driving the economic and social development of the region. In an effort to continue to preserve, conserve and beautify the destination, the Municipality of Solidaridad has implemented a small environmental levy on visitors effective September 1, 2017. Hotels will collect 20 Mexican pesos per room per day on check out; the proceeds will be deposited in an environmental trust to fund local projects. The Municipalidad of Solidaridad thanks you for your understanding and support of this worthwhile endeavor. Thank you and enjoy your visit.
