Excellent Service but poor quality everything else

The staff was excellent. So attentive and helpful. Angel, a bartender at the rooftop bar by the Thai restaurant, was AHHMAZING. He crafted the perfect cocktails and shots to make our ladies trip wonderful!! He was so fun and personable. Definitely a great asset to the resort!! The rooms on the other hand were a complete disaster. The shower leaked into the bathtub, we couldn’t change our room temp, there was a huge leaky puddle outside our room almost every day. The two girls we were traveling with that purchased the Junior suite room found a dead mouse in their room and on our last day when we all went to use the hot tub in their room, found out it did not work. Flooring in many of the restaurants was discolored, walls were dirty, and lots of leaky areas. Was very disappointed for it being a new hotel and the price. Also, we decided to use the spa one day and get pedicures. The pedicures were $72 each and they had about 15 colors to choose from. My travel companions also got pedicures and manicures. All of ours were chipping and cracked within an hour after the service. With tip we spent about $100 on the service. Complet waste of money. For a spa at a 5 star resort I expected more. Thanks to Angel our bartender I didn’t feel the trip was a complete waste because he was so great but I was very disappointed.

Our stay for 1 week

We arrived on January 3rd in the morning around 12pm at the hotel. Apparently all rooms were being filled up, so we were told we couldn’t check in until 3Pm. We walked around for a few hours in the heat in clothes meant for winter (travel clothes) which wasn’t too pleasing, but eventually we got into our Junior suite. The hotel is beautiful and big. The rooms are gorgeous and have very spacious living areas. The bathroom with rainfall shower, jacuzzi tub etc was very welcome and nice. Overall very pleased with the room accommodations, however since the hotel is brand new and is still being worked on we found some things they seemed to have rushed. Bathroom AC outlet was broken and dangerous. My sons room flooded everytime he used the shower. Paint splattered on tiles and wall from when they painted the bathroom, cleanup was not done thoroughly after construction. Same with the halls, elevators etc. lots of dust and shavings from construction etc. The hotel grounds were beautiful, lots of vegetation and new plants and trees being planted. The hotel is huge so you’ll want to get a building that is somewhere in the middle of the resort where you won’t be too far from lobby/pool and beach, otherwise lots of walking. Unless of course you can catch a golf cart heading your direction each way. The golf carts and little boats taking you to/from different parts of the resort is nice, although the walkways are not made for golf carts and people to be walking, not enough room for everyone. Restaurants were good. Isla Blanca is where we ate mostly considering the buffest options. The food was good and lots of different choices to have. My step son ended up getting sick, a full day of vomiting and other stomach problems. We believe it was food poisoning since he was perfectly fine before and was not in the sun very much. The sickness passed within 24 hours Pools were nice, albeit cold at times but they definitely warmed up throughout the day with the sun etc. the beach was beautiful, although so many shrubs and vegetation on the beach makes it look unkept and not so serene. Some of the vegetation is nice, but there’s plants everywhere and takes away from being able to see the beach from a distance. I think they should remove the unkept shrubbery and expand the beach. It’s beautiful and spacious, just could use some more TLC for that paradise feeling beach. Overall, we had a great stay, great weather and helpful staff. The resort is beautiful but they should have taken more time to prepare. More deep cleaning in the buildings needs to be done. If you’re going to stay here, be prepared for feeling like the resort is only 80% complete. I don’t feel that it is up to 100% completion and still has some work and organizing to do.

Great experience and awesome price

My husband and I had a WONDERFUL time at the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres. The resort was fabulous, the food was amazing, the staff was so helpful and friendly and we thought we got all of this for a great value. The only thing is that I think our room was a bit dusty and my husband was having a hard time with his asthma. Not sure what the issue was since we had cleaning come in every day and our room looked spotless. It could have just been his asthma flaring up for other reasons but nonetheless we will be back in the future!

Nice property-but very spread out...

We stayed on the GP side versus the TRS(adults only) or the Family Suite Selection. You could definitely tell a difference between the three levels. We enjoyed our stay, but probably will not be going back. It just seemed to be missing something. The staff were super friendly and we loved that. But if you needed to go anywhere you had to walk a long way. We were in building 16, which was close to the village mall and the main pool. They did offer a fun boat service to get places, but they were not always there and waiting for it wasted time. The golf carts were around but always full. So we walked everywhere. Our room was super nice and the Isla buffet was good! At the restaurants the service was very inconsistent and usually slow. The Japanese regular table brought out three courses at once then a long break before seeing the server again. Even the server didn’t seem to know what course was coming next. Loved the Indian and Thai restaurant. The construction is new and generally looks nice but I’m not sure it is of good quality that it will last. The edges of the paths were already crumbling. Our family had a fun time and that is what we wanted! Thanks to Fernando(Thai restaurant) server. Splash bar Lionel, Jorge, Alberto, Josue, and Victor who made wonderful drinks(Smirnoff Surpise) while we were near or in the pool. Victor at The Eclipse bar for some great drinks. Also, Osvaldo at the Indian restaurant bar. The waitress at the 24 hour bar was also, amazing!

Nice property-but very spread out... Nice property-but very spread out...
