Watch what you pay for

The rooms air conditioning was horrible elevator broke down a lot and the hallway carpet stinks. Pool closes at 6 every day. It could be a beautiful place with a little upkeep.

Grand Bahia needs to train their front office staff and managers to not ignore their guests even if they are Jamaicans. They don’t have a clue what they are doing when you are checking in. All they know to do is to give you that rehearsed apology over and over. A Spanish dining room supervisor reprimanded me inside the dining room one morning because I didn’t go thru the right door and then apologized and told me to enjoy my breakfast. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my enemy . I had to go off property every day in order to have a good time. All the workers would complain everyday about how little they are paid. If I was to be given a free week, month or year I wouldn’t take it. Train your workers especially your front office workers . Andre Hall is the most efficient front office worker. I would wait until his shift starts to ensure that we got towels and wash clothes everyday. Worse experience ever.

Huge Disappointment...WORST BIRTHDAY EVER

I take quite a few vacations every year, majority of them are all inclusive. This was the first time I been to Jamaica and stayed at the Grand Bahia in Runaway Bay Ochos Rios. I booked my vacation through cheap Caribbean and told them I needed two beds because there were 3 guests in one room and it was my BIRTHDAY trip. When I arrived there, I checked in and went up to my room. On the way there I saw on guest doors they had a banner that said either happy birthday or happy anniversary. I never had that on my door. Just a plain door when they knew it was my birthday. When I walked in there was a king bed, not two beds. I had a long conversation with supervisor Downer at the front desk. My brother had to sleep on a cot. They had nowhere at all to accomodate us. The next morning we had re pack everything and took it to my aunts room until my room was ready at 3pm mind you they wanted me to accommodate them and vacate the room at 9:00am that morning so they can clean the room and have it ready for another guest so they don’t lose money in their pocket. Ridiculous. I asked for towels at 6:45am. I received towels arouns 8:30am. Operator omitted telling me that housekeeping opens at 8am and they don’t have the key. The food there was worst than cruise ship food. Same thing every day for breakfast lunch and dinner. And it’s only for certain hours. If it’s an all inclusive; shouldn’t we be able to get food or drinks whenever we want? We were told we can’t make dinner reservations until we checked into the resort. We tried and EVERYTHING was booked, we only had one dinner reservations all week at the steakhouse. The food was horrible. Overall worst experience. The staff is very incompetent. I feel they were all hired with no training or expertise.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive beach bonanza for every member of your fam-bam.

The white, cabana-ish tents that hug the pool and provide shade while you chillax.

Being greeted by colorful, fresh bougainvillea on your massage table in the spa.

The two coolio, curvy pools that are a coconut's throw from the beach.

What We'd Change

The beach is a little pebbly, so make sure you bring your water shoes. The upside is that it makes for truly excellent snorkeling right off shore.

Why You Should Go

It's 75 minutes from Mobay airport. Don't fret. You'll be greeted with a welcome cocktail soon.

The beach is a bit pebbly, so bring your water shoes.

Before your flight home, hit Club Mobay at the airport for A/C, drinks and lots of spoiling.

Book your airport transfers with us before you arrive. You'll avoid a lot of headaches.

Hotel Description

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica: All-Inclusive & All-Fam-tastic

When you enter the open-air lobby of this Victorian-style resort, you'll immediately feel the Jamaican breezes wash over you. Next, you'll encounter a sea of white, wicker chairs on the expansive porch (they're oh-so British), where you can sip a cocktail and soak in all the awesome of the lush grounds. Wander through the complex and you'll be wowed by the glistening pools and the cerulean waves of Runaway Bay. Grab a Red Stripe from the swim-up bar while your kids can descend into a splash frenzy at their own pool. Then you can all gather for some Jerk Chicken at the snack bar, where you can plot your next adventures: water sports, nightly shows, and more. When might we expect you?
