The staff make this place amazing!
I stayed at the GR Solaris cancun with my partner and mother for a week and the staff really made it an exceptional stay. Angel, who provides poolside service, was so attentive we were never left waiting for a drink. He also made sure they were absolutely beautiful which really enhanced the feeling of being on a tropical get away. Raul and Manuel made the mesero buffet such a wonderful experience. Manuel gave us tips on great markets to go to in cancun as well as telling us more about Mexico with humour and a local view. Raul was so charming and when he poured wine it tasted the best! His service was so fast and he always did it with a genuine smile. As well Karen at reception was incredibly helpful. Unfortunately we checked in very late due to the airport that they did not have any couples rooms left. Karen organized it with professionalism and haste that we got a lovely room as soon as it was available. Lastly the spa attendants Brenny and Irena went out of their way to surprise me with a cake and candles on my birthday - which was especially impressive as no one in our party had told them it was my birthday. The staff at GR Solaris Cancun deserve 6 stars!!!

Lovely staff
Shout out to Raul at the evening buffet at Mesero buffet and Manuel for our morning breakfast. You were both so kind and attentive, excellent service! And thank you Angel at the pool, our drinks were always cold and never empty. To GR Solaris... your staff is lovely.

Do not book with a group of 4 or more!
DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT IF YOU ARE TRAVELING WITH A BIG GROUP. I traveled to Cancun with a group of 15 people (12 adults and 3 kids), and staying at GR Solaris Cancun was one of the most frustrating travel experiences we’ve had. We planned this trip 5 months in advance, made specific room requests early (king beds, crib, rooms close together), and none of it was honored. Check-in alone took 45 minutes. We were given no king room, no crib, and our rooms were scattered across different floors. If you’re counting on your requests being respected — don’t. The room itself looked decent at first glance, but we had two serious issues: • The sliding balcony door did not lock (major safety concern). • We found dirty boxer underwear hidden between the extra pillows. When we reported this, staff showed little urgency and never once apologized. Finding someone else’s underwear in your room should never be treated as normal. We requested a new room and asked to be closer to family. That turned into another exhausting process. They required us to leave the room before 11am but did not have a new room ready until 2pm. With two kids and luggage, we were left waiting around for hours. It was extremely inconvenient and poorly handled. Now let’s talk about restaurants — because this was the biggest disaster. If you are a group larger than 3–4 people, be prepared for constant frustration. The reservation system does not accommodate large groups properly. Bookings can only be made in small groups tied to individual room numbers. We were told by staff to split reservations across multiple rooms and note in the comments that we were one group of 15. So we followed their instructions. When we arrived at Zai restaurant, they told us we couldn’t do that. It was 9:30pm. We had 15 people ready to eat. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only a few small tables occupied, yet they refused to seat us together. Not once during our entire stay were we able to dine as a full group. We were redirected multiple times and given conflicting information from different staff members. It led to unnecessary arguments and stress simply because policies were unclear and poorly communicated. The restaurant experience overall was disappointing. The food was underwhelming, and the service clearly was not prepared to handle larger parties. The buffet was far more accommodating and honestly had better food. To be fair, some staff members were genuinely friendly and kind. The activities team did a great job planning daily pool activities that helped make our stay more enjoyable. The kids loved the pool, and the foam party was a highlight for everyone. The pool area and entertainment team were easily the best part of the resort. However, friendliness alone cannot make up for poor organization, lack of accountability, and the inability to accommodate large groups at a resort that markets itself as family-friendly. If you’re a couple or a small group, you may have a decent stay. But if you are traveling with a big family or group and hope to spend time together — especially dining together — this is not the place. We came to celebrate and enjoy time together. Instead, we spent too much time dealing with miscommunication, logistical issues, and unnecessary stress. Traveling with a large group is already complex. This resort made it significantly harder.
