Okay for the price

You get what you pay for. The resort is average. Upon arrival, we had no phone in our room and no lamp shades. The beds and linens were dull and flat. The hair dryer also didn't work. The pool was nice, but super cold and the Jacuzzi never got warm. There is also not enough bars or food options. However, it's located right on the ocean which is absoltely gorgeous. We traveled the island a lot so didn't mind that the resort accommodations were lacking. There's free wireless only in the lobby, so it's always pretty crowded. They also had a show, movie or game every night, which was put on well. For the price, it's as expected.

7 Sunny Days in Cozumel

We arrived at El Cozumeleno and were a little surprised to find that the bar in the lobby did not have seating at the bar as the bar also served as a beverage hub for the fine dining restaurant. The hotel is older and could use updating, but it was clean. The room was spacious, but did not contain any dressers and there was a $10 per day charge to have a mini-bar in the room and and additional $8.00 to stock it every day. Our flat screen TV showed a double picture and when we complained, they quickly replaced it. The King sized "bed"was 2 very old twin box-springs covered by a 5" thick piece of egg shell carton foam. It was very uncomfortable and my boyfriend who has a very bad back, woke up sore every morning. The hotel provided us with 1 -16oz. bottle of water per day and only served what I hope was filtered water from large bottles. We had to ask for wash cloths and would only get new ones every couple of days. The buffet food was average as compared to other places we have stayed in Mexico. The food in the indoor dining room was tasty and the menu selections were pretty good. We were required to make a dinner reservation every morning and on 2 days they were "full" very early in the morning, but the dining room was never over half full. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful considering the language barrier. The pool and beach areas were clean and well kept. There was even a resident cat and 2 iguanas that we would see every day.

Disappointed

The pools were good. Very little beach front, very dirty not kept very clean .Not many activities each day. Staff members were very nice. Dining choices were bad.Hotel was clean. Rooms are old and out dated. Very little hot water. Drains in sinks and bathtub were clogged up.TV have to be replaced as soon as we got into out room. They had a Supper Bowl party which was very nice and well staffed. I would not recommend this resort to anyone else. Very disappointed.

Very unexpected!

GREAT for handicapped people! Walkways with ramps and the beach is very close. Many people in motorized scooters were very close to the beach. Food was fine, and the service on the beach was wonderful. Be sure to look for the cat! He's very friendly. Great for seniors! We will go back!

Hotel Description

Dive into El Cozumeleno Beach Resort, an Island Paradise

Ever wish you lived on a tropical island? You can at least visit one when you escape to an all-inclusive, diving paradise at El Cozumeleno Beach Resort. Located in the northern Hotel Zone of Isla Cozumel, just five minutes from downtown San Miguel, this family-friendly home away from home faces the clear blue waters of the Caribbean against sands so white it's tough to spot seashells.

If you're curious about Davy Jones' Locker, the diving and snorkeling opportunities near El Cozumeleno Beach Resort are second to none. Make plans for reef snorkeling, diving lessons and certification and dives to see the amazing Palancar Reef. If pirate ships are more to your liking, swab the deck of a rental sailboat, take a sunset cruise, or schedule a deep-sea fishing charter, all from one location right in front of the resort.

The landlubbers in your crew can lounge on the sands of the serene beach, hang out on the resort's pier or opt for the three-level, free-form activities pool that includes a jetted section and swim-up bar. Grab something to munch at the poolside snack bar, and then relax under the highest tier behind a waterfall or in the 10-person hot tub. If you need a more Zen-like experience, grab a spot by the "quiet" pool, while the munchkins indulge in the mushroom-shaped shower located in the children's wading pool.

On your way back to the hotel, drop your offspring off at the all inclusive kid's club before taking in 18 holes of golf at Cozumel Country Club right across the street. Designed by the Nicklaus Group, the course is not only environmentally friendly, but offers a challenge for everyone from beginners to experienced players. Gather everyone for an early evening meal at the open-air El Cocal then enjoy live entertainment available three nights a week produced by your friendly and courteous staff.

After a full day, you'll be ready for sweet dreams when you retire to an Ocean Front View room. You've earned it. You're on vacation.
