Your day could look like this: you, kickin' back in a luxurious oasis set along a white sand beach that's kissed by crystal clear waters. Your kids, climbing on a pyramid-shaped climbing wall in the warm Mexican sun. You look up at the palms that shade you, then glance at your watch. Yes, it's that time. Time to refresh your drink. And continue doing that delicious nothing that you came here for.

Nice place
The resort was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We loved the swim up bar but did not like that kids were allowed to sit there too. Hard to enjoy your drink while the kids are splashing around. They had 2 other pools for the kids to play freely in. Wish there would have been more music around the pools during the day.
Had an amazing time at Dreams. Room was gorgeous as well as the resort. Staff was so incredibly nice, polite & always available. The only disappointment was the restaurants. Some close on particular nights. Some have a stringent dress code. Dreams need to make vactioners aware of this before coming in order to bring proper attire.
This was our first experience at an all inclusive and were very impressed and satisfied.
The staff was always friendly and attentive. The facility was clean and kept up, our room was comfortable with nice amenities. The food selection and quality was satisfactory, especially at the restaurants for dinner.
I would definitely recommend Dreams Rivera Cancun as vacation spot for couples or families.
We arrived at Dreams Riviera and we’re happily greeted with champagne as we entered. Gorgeous lobby area, with lush florals, fountains and little pools that took you to an escape from the hectic travels just completed. We checked in and got keys to room 2415 (I’m pretty sure this was our first room.) a Deluxe Tropical View room. We did not book a plunge pool or Preferred Club as we were going to be out with the 67 guests attending the wedding, and didn’t want Preferred Club if no one else booked the advantage of those amenities. When we arrived, we were in awe of the room. It was beautiful. When we opened the shades, our view was anything but tropical! The property next door was abandoned, and although we didn’t plan on being in our room except to sleep, we asked to be moved simply because it was almost an eyesore to wake up to. Now, this is not the resorts fault - I just think the rooms along the South side of the building should be discounted or something of the sort. We were moved to 1542 - a room that overlooked the north garden and surprisingly many of our guests were in adjoining rooms on this floor. It was PERFECT! Each day, we spent it in the pool drinking all day. Faustino and Clever were our bartenders everyday, and they were absolutely FABULOUS. I’ve read reviews before my trip, and the way they remember names is absolutely mind boggling, as I couldn’t do it! Extra rum was always in my drink since they remembered the first time. So hospitable. Of course, we tipped (some may have thought too much) but thank you doesn’t pay the bills, as I like to say. They work SO hard and most travel 1:30h to get to work. Some stay on property (or close by) working 10 days straight then having a few days off to be with their families. Think about that! So we spent about $400 in tips in a 6-day period. Pedro and Sergio in World Cafe felt like family. I think we even hugged them goodbye. They had my Baileys ordered every single morning when they saw us come in. Unfortunately, we didn’t take advantage of the restaurants because my fiancé likes to get his food, eat and run. So we are at World Cafe (buffet) almost every meal. We tried to book 2 hibachi tables at Himitsu for the same day, but they we’re booked. We completely understood as we were really winging it with a large group. Spa - bridesmaids got mani pedis - I got gel and so did the bride - not sure what happened but Brides nails peeled in a day, while mine are still perfect 6 days later. My fiancé and I got deep tissue massages and they were AMAZING. Hydrotherapy was great - as per my Mom. She loved it. We worked out only one day due to all of the food and alcohol consumption, but it was top notch - and we are in the gym everyday at home. The wedding was so beautifully done, the bridesmaids were never without mimosas as we were getting ready. We tipped big and they remembered. There was a knock on the door every 15 minutes with 8 glasses, a bottle of champagne and OJ. They even had a mariachi band on the beach. KID FRIENDLY - We don’t have children (no thanks!!!) and it’s a kid friendly resort (my brother has two girls 6 and 2, so I am sure that was a sticking point for them to book here aside from the breathtaking facility) but TBH I wasn’t put out, annoyed (I’m very easily annoyed with unruly kids!!) or really took notice to any annoying children. They weren’t running rampant, so I won’t use this as a strike. There’s a kids explorer club which whisks kids away all day from 9a-9p! I would absolutely 100% book here again. Only suggestion is to prohibit kids from the pool with the swim up bar. There was an incident where a 7ish year old took a crap in the pool and they had to close it and filter/shock the water for 4 hours. It sucked. However the pool waitstaff (hi Erick!) asked us every 5 minutes if we needed something. I’d be borderline annoyed if it was any other situation but not this one. We were never without drinks. Unless we had to take a break. I’m telling you, it was just a perfect trip for us, and we never went without. Personally I was toasted so I pretty much napped from 5-7 daily from all of the pool shenanigans. Beach volleyball was a hit with our crew. One elevator was out of service for 3 days which was an inconvenience for my disabled father, but they accommodated my Mom and Dad with daily hydrotherapy. We all had an amazing time and again, I’d definitely book again. I’ll update my review if I forgot anything!

Serene & beautiful accommodations best recommendations2 answers
Room w view, close to infinity pool, beach, restaurants.....cannot walk very long distances. Just want to be surrounded by water, palm trees & beach plus quiet. Power rest. What is a plunge room? Looking for privacy especially in spa areas. Accommodations, pools, scenary & kind and respectful service are premo concern. We like our privacy. One of our best vacations? Private villa with private pool @ Pavilions & Pools St. Thomas. We are too far away from St. T and are looking for a direct flight to Mexico w better pricetag. Recommendations?.

This particular resort does offer rooms with views. The price for each view does vary as it depends on the resort's availability and the dates of travel. A plunge room includes a small pool located outside of the room and usually on the balcony or patio. Airlines do offer nonstop flights to Cancun from a select number of US cities.

Try the NH Royal...quieter as no children under 18 and also all inclusive makes for a better, cheaper trip....

Yes, it is a small bar with top shelf booze and a very friendly bartender that will make anything. I loved going in the morning to get coffee and lates.
sdp11
There is a private lounge area for those who upgrade to the Preferred Club room category.
MariaCC
Because if you "buy into" the resort, you get "preferential" treatment. This is the worst resort I have personally ever stayed in.
kcriess
It has an indoor private area with a bar between the main lobby building and the pools. I did not notice an outdoor private area designated near the pool/beach.
GregNY
Yes and it's lovely!

Yes. Very nice with top shelf booze and food each evening. Try the fresh sushi and desserts.
Johnnierobbie

Choochy
Yes... The little lounge is also where they do the private, preferred club check ins. It's a nice, quaint, little room...with an outdoor patio area that over looks the main walkway. HOWEVER...no private pool for preferred guests! This is a major disappointment since my husband had to wake up by 6 am every day to reserve chairs or Bali bed...lame!

We were not offered this upgrade at Dreams, or the Secrets Resorts both times we visited.
Billianne
What happens is the hotel and all the tour companies they work with are allocated a certain number of these rooms. Although they may be sold out, for example, on Cheap Caribbean, Apple Vacations may still have availability or the hotel might. I ended up booking with Cheap Caribbean for that very reason - they still had PC rooms available.

Have you tried simply booking an upgrade upon arrival? That is what I did without any problem.

Only the perferred club rooms off a Jacuzzi on the balcony.

We had the most simple room and it had a pretty big tub with jets in it, that's what I would call an in room jacuzzi.

I believe all in-room bathtubs are jacuzzi/jetted style. You have to upgrade to the Preferred Club rooms to get a private jacuzzi on your balcony.

Yes. Has in room jacuzzi. And also another on your balcony if you are not on the first floor.

They do have a Jacuzzi tub, but only large enough for one person.

Dreams is a great option for families looking for a multitude of activities within a resort right on the beach. For further guidance, you can go on our web site and click on the 'Hotels' tab at the top, and then select 'Hotel Finder'. From there, you can choose 'family friendly' as an interest, along with any other interests and hotel amenities that you would like on your vacation.

Is this hotel good to have a wedding at?5 answers
We need a moderately priced all inclusive that isn't adults only (we have a 17 year old coming) to hold our wedding at on April vacation. And a beautiful swimmable beach! Is that asking too much!!?

Dreams Riviera Cancun is a great place to have a destination wedding. The resort has many amenities in order to make your wedding day special, including multiple wedding package options. Also, if you meet certain criteria, you will also receive free nights for a return stay to celebrate your anniversary. Regarding the beach, while tides and weather can affect the water, it is a large beautiful white sand beach.
KristinCC
We just returned from there over 10/29 - 11/3 and we saw several weddings done there that were gorgeous!! We had a BEAUTIFUL beach wedding in Florida, but the way they were setting up these intimate weddings on the beach were just beautiful. I was definitely impressed. However, on Friday they had like 6 weddings going on at once. As long as you were one of them on the beach I wouldn't think it would matter too much. I would just be concerned about over hearing each other's music. Just being married 3 weeks myself, I wouldn't want to be around a bunch of brides on my wedding day. So - maybe get married during the week??
NBonIRB
Weddings are the best thing going at this resort. A staff of wedding planners can assist you with all your needs. And the beach is excellent for walking, jogging and swimming.
delt389
Absolutely!! there was about 4 different weddings there when I vacationed last week. No wedding was the same. The largest party was about 75 guests and the wedding was at night, reception was in the pool area which was closed.

This place is totally overrun with small children, super noisy and mediocre food etc. I would look elsewhere.

Is there anywhere near by to go Jet Skiing and dancing?3 answers
I noticed this resort does not have jet skiing but do any of the sister resorts offer this? Also do any of the resorts near by have any type of bar with a DJ at night?
4 years, 58 months ago
tmarie
This resort is located in the town of Puerto Morelos, which is smaller and quieter compared to other resort towns near this location, but motorized water sports are available near the resort.
BethCC
You can book jet skiing through the aqua sports company located by the pool here. After booking, a boat picks you up and takes you about 3-4 miles south to a location where jet skiing is permitted, and afterwards they transport you back on the same boat. My wife and I did this, cost $120 USD for 1 hour (1 jet-ski), I think 30 minutes costs $70.
In terms of dancing, we never when but they do have a bar/club called Desires on premises. Pretty sure that's where most people went for dancing. Not sure what other options there are aside from that...
Nshah
you can book motorized sports through local vendors but the natural coral reef right offshore will not allow you to jetski at the resort.
You can also book with local vendors to charter a bus/taxi to take you dancing in near by Playa del Carmen or Cancun

Shuttle service for excursions2 answers

If you have booked your reservation and excursions through CheapCaribbean.com transportation may already be included in your excursion package. Please review the vouchers that were sent to you to see if transportation is included in your excursion package.
BethCC
Someone told us about a beach called "Akhumal Bay" which has great snorkeling and you are able to swim with sea turtles. This is a free access beach. My husband and I always bring our own snorkels so we only needed transportation to get there. The hotel set us up with a private taxi service which cost $140. It sounds expensive but when you compare it to the price of the snorkel trip that they suggested at $120/person, it was a great deal. So, the taxi took us to the beach and would wait there for as long as we wanted. We stayed for about 3 hours. After the taxi would've taken us anywhere else we wanted as well with no additional cost (for example, there is a great shopping strip that you go by in Playa del Carmen which we could've stopped at, but we have been there before). I would highly recommend this beach as it was some of the best snorkeling we have ever done and seeing/swimming with the sea turtles was amazing. It was the highlight of our trip for sure and it was great not being on a time limit of a tour. If you go, you do not need to rent the lifejackets they try to sell there if you feel you are a good swimmer. Also, the sea turtles are in the middle area. For the best snorkeling and fish sighting, there is a reef to the right of the enclosed area (which you will understand if you go there and look at the ocean).

Does it rain everyday there is the summer? I have been checking the weather and video cam on the website a lot and its been raining everyday all day, is that the usual?
4 years, 57 months ago

In the Caribbean, and especially in Riviera Maya, it is common for there to be rainfall everyday during the Summer months. Keep in mind that while it may rain frequently, it often does not linger and passes in the afternoon. With that being said, we are not able to predict the weather, as it is subject to change at any time.
If you have any further questions, please call one of our Beach Experts at 1.800.915.2322.

You should be able to set up restaurant and spa reservations at time of check-in. If you have purchased your reservation through another company, you may have to check the stipulations of your vouchers as they may say to set up with the resort before hand. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly at their international number: (01152 to dial out) 998-872-9200.
TimCC
We were able to make an appointment for a couples massage the morning we wanted it. It seems like they have a lot of staff in the spa area.
blazer
It is not difficult to book spa or romantic dinner appointments. You can book them there. The resort credits had many restrictions, making them hard to use. You could only use them on a romantic dinner, premium spa services... ($40 max per person per treatment), etc.
OCDforClean
We did not use the spa services, but did look into it. There were many opportunities to use the spa and book your appointment. Even in the rain during a few days they had appointments available. I would say waiting until you get there would be absolutely fine! They are overall very accommodating!

The reason the plunge pool is not available is due to the occupancy requirements, which are as follows. A pack and play would not work, these occupancy restrictions are strictly enforced for fire safety reasons. What you can do is book 2 rooms and request they be connecting or next to each other, however this cannot be guaranteed.
Maximum Occupancy: 3 adults & 1 child (0-12), or 2 adults & 2 children (0-12).

Upgrade to the preferred club room with a plunge pool. We just came from Dreams Riviera and upgraded to this. There are adjoining rooms as our room had a locked door connected to our neighbors. Or inquire about a Governers Suite? I believe those have a plunge pool as well.
Teemtee1
So this resort has the availability to have joining rooms. You can do a double bed room and then have a rollaway brought into the room.
KatyL
We did not have a plunge pool but our room was able to connect to another room. In my opinion no one really ever used the plung pools because they are out in the open everyone can see you walking by and the 3 pools were so nice for the kids trust me they won’t want the plung pool. And they have a sprinkler in the kids club.

How far is this resort from PDC?
Also, are there sister resorts we can visit through out the peninsula?
1 year, 22 months ago
Chicago
It is about 30-45 minute drive. They do offer a sip, savor and see program. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.

40 minutes

They have an adults only sister resort called saphire we were told they own a total of 17 resorts total I recommend you call them to find out plus there is an extra charge to stay at there other resorts
DblG
It’s about 20-25 min from airport and playa is about another 15-20 mins thy are on the same side so the water is not clear dark choppier and may have seaweed like ours, the opposite side in Cancun hotel zone is crystal clear water.
DblG
About a 40 minute walk down the beach and a 15 min bike ride...Dreams Riviera coordinates bike tours that are free to guests most days to Playa del Carmen as well where you bike there and spend 40 min shopping around the area and whatnot.
There are 5 sister resorts. We walked along the beach and went into about 3 of them. They are all there along the beach. When you walk out onto the beach go left. Right takes you to Playa del Carmen if you want to walk there and there is only one sister resort that way.

Do you get sick from having ice in your drinks?5 answers
I know you cannot dink the water in Mexico but what about the ice from the resort? Is that safe or did it make anyone sick?

The ice is made using filtered water and is generally safe for consumption.
JeannieCC
My husband and I had ice in every drink we had and we didn't get sick once so I think it should be fine!
