Some ups and downs
There were good and bad points to this resort. One thing that is very important to us is that the pools were heated. This time of year many resorts can have pools too cold. This was very pleasant water. The New Year's Eve experience was not so good. A restaurant manager tried to upsell me for the dinner. I ended up paying $200 for what I thought was going to be a special dinner with champagne and sparkling beverages for the kids. We ended up being seated at the buffet after being told all of the restaurants had the same menu. I felt deceived. They also lost a pair of headphones and a neck pillow. When luggage arrived at our room, one of my bags was unzipped and turned upside down. Unfortunately, I didn't discover the missing items until we were at the airport. The staff is very friendly but I find that at most of the resorts we go to in Cancun. The nightly entertainment is lacking and the NYE celebration went far too long into the night. It was loud at 2am, which is not good for a resort that services familier.

Family Vacation!
Did so much research! Great for our family of 5 (kids are 5 and 7 years old). Food was better than expected. We typically stay at the JW marriot in Cancun but this was a family trip so for a family resport this was great! Perfect size to not feel overwhelmed and we had rooms with a great view. Very kid friendly staff and meal options!

Pedro took incredible care of our 80 person group on the beach. Always set up cabanas, daybeds, umbrellas. Top notch!!
Pedro, who worked as our beach butler during our stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun, was absolutely excellent. We were part of a very large group of nearly 80 people, and Pedro went above and beyond every single day to make sure everything was perfectly set up for us. He handled lounge chairs, day beds, umbrellas were always making sure our group was accommodated comfortably and without stress. Despite the size of our group, he was organized, attentive, and consistently friendly. His professionalism and positive attitude truly stood out. Pedro made our beach experience seamless and enjoyable, and his level of service significantly enhanced our stay. Dreams Riviera Cancun is lucky to have him and he is a true asset to the resort. Highly recommend recognizing Pedro for his exceptional service!

Infinity pool was huge!
This all inclusive was great for multi generational families. The grounds and pools were beautiful The staff were all super friendly Shout out to Oliver & Vivian’s in entertainment team Lenry, Ricardo, Christopher bar staff and Alexander pool bar tender Himitsu Japanese show dinner was very fun and delicious. You need a reservation for that. Really all the food & drinks were pretty good. The Coco cafe is nice but plan to wait in line for your coffees a bit. All in all a great experience.

Honest opinion from a travel agent with 40 years in the industry.
Resort is very pretty, nice grounds, foliage, lovely lobby and we loved the cats that call it home (as well as other wildlife we saw). Beach is okay (we experienced much better beaches in Cancun and the south of Playa del Carmen). Sand is nice but the water lacks those tiers of turquoise as the surf pulled a lot of sand into it making the water somewhat murky. I have heard that this can change during different months, we were here mid Dec 2025. Coco Cafe (coffee shop) staff were great, remembering my iced latte special order when I would come in. Food - this is where we were disappointed. Preferred Club breakfasts were excellent as we had access to the Seaside Grill (Enrique was excellent). Himitsu for dinner was very good, we had an amazing waiter (Abraham). Unfortunately the steak dinner at the Seaside Grill and the Mexican Meal at El Patio were NOT great. Solely because the hostess' were not on top of their game with taking reservations and managing them and the waiters we had were not well trained or maybe overworked. (They were very scattered, forgetful, SLOW, not attentive, multiple food order errors) Buffet service was better, but we only used buffet for snacks. It is small and offerings are more limited. Activities crew were great. Our biking tour to Puerto Morelos was a highlight with both Jonathan and Oliver. (we did this tour 2 days in a row). Great young men! Preferred Club - we enjoyed the use of the PC lounge. Good service and snacks. Our room - we had an ocean front PC room - floor 5, lovely view, great room. Interesting layout which we thought was unique. WANRNING - the day beds throughout the property!!! they have a fee of $100 USD$ a day BUT there is nowhere that this is told to you. We were not told this at check in and only found out when we we were told that we needed to get off a day bed as it has a cost. The person whom told us was friendly but it was embarrassing. I really loved the grounds at this resort. Staff were pretty good BUT after staying at the Barcelo Riviera and Riu Palace Kuklukan prior to this resort and experiencing EXCELLENT service and food quality and these 2 resorts the Dreams Riviera Cancun does need to focus more in these areas to improve overall guest satisfaction.
