Couples Getaway - 5 days/4 nights

My husband and I were booked at the Dreams Los Cabos through the Deal of Fortune and we just got back from our 5 day/ 4 night stay there! Prior to this trip, we had only ever been to Cancun, and we were excited to go to an all-inclusive that was way closer (only a 2 hour flight from Vegas), which made for a great long weekend getaway! Checking in was a breeze- Daniel at the front desk was super helpful and within minutes we had our keys to our room, and the staff at the bellhop were very attentive and brought us and our bags to the room right away. The room we got was their standard suite, which included a King bed, and small living room area with a couch, table and chairs for 2, and a balcony. We loved our view- we overlooked the Adult pool, and were also able to see the ocean (which was absolutely gorgeous). Overall the room was clean, however I know that they are updating a few of the rooms and this one probably hadn't been touched yet. The cushions on the couch and chairs were stained, and while it was clean and everything worked perfectly fine, it was just a little worn down from guests over the years. Another note about the rooms (or at least the one we were in) was that the walls are paper thin. Most nights our neighbors let their kids stay up and yell and run until like 1am and it sounded like the entire family was in our room our stay. At some point, another neighbor must have reported them because there was some very intense arguing with a staff member one evening and after that it seemed to be a little more quiet. Because of this, we would be more likely to book at an adults-only resort in the future as night-time seemed to be when we noticed/ heard loud kids the most during our stay. We spent most of the days at the adult-only pool, as the beach was on a black flag status (you can't go in at all) and it was really hot while we were there. There are beach chairs and beach service, however we didn't utilize it because we wanted to stay cool in the pool! Our rating for the beach has more to do with the fact that due to how the tides, etc. works in that region, the beach is pretty much in-accessible year round and the sand, while it looks pretty, it insanely rocky and sharp, and not nice for strolls along the beach (if so, bring tennis shoes... there were multiple people we ran into that had small cuts on their feet from the sand!) The adult pool had great servers there during our time, Raul and Enrique, who took great care of us! They were very attentive in refilling drinks and managing a ton of orders correctly when the pool got busy! The pool-side food was ok, not anything special or overly delicious, but worked just fine for us when we wanted a quesadilla or nachos without having to leave. The staff did a great job of making sure all empty cups and food plates were removed almost immediately (which kept birds away) and there were always clean and fresh towels available! There were a few times that families would wander over to the adult pool, however other guests (not staff) were pretty quick to tell them they should leave as it was adult-only. I wish that the staff had been a little more hands on about this, as it was pretty clear when there were kids in swim diapers around, yet we never saw staff take action even when multiple people went up to different members, the front desk etc to let them know. Especially because this is a family-friendly resort, the "adult only" areas seemed to be very exclusive to people who specifically didn't want to be around kids (which we were two of them), so I think that having a few signs posted would help with this and avoid the poor families from feeling awkward when other guests try to confront them. When it came to dining options we ate at most all of the restaurants, and overall the quality of food for the resort was ok - I think more because it wasn't consistent from one place to the next. There were some places that were amazing, went above and beyond, and then there were some that just kind of put some food together and called it a day. Dinner is definitely the best foods and menus available! Our favorite place for dinner was the Seaside Grill (located next to the family pool). We actually ended up eating there twice, as our waiter Arsenio and the captain, Omar learned that it was our anniversary and invited us back a few nights later for a special dinner to celebrate. I cannot express to you how this dinner staff is so kind, and just went above and beyond to create an absolutely beautiful dinner for us! First off, they set up this beautiful couples table to overlooked the ocean and was decorated with florals and candles (thank you to the hostess Fernanda for doing this!). Then the chef made a special meal - with an amazingly delicious spread of appetizers, a sampling of all of their steaks, chicken and tuna (served on a pot of coals to stay hot then entire meal- and each one cooked to perfection), plus they finished our meal with a super delicious dessert tray where Omar personally flambeed strawberries table side to put on top. It was amazing, and honestly just from the kindness of their hearts to do that for us - it wasn't an extra price- just something special they offer to guests to go above an beyond. If you get the chance to visit, please be sure to join this team for dinner as they will take great care of you! We also ate at Portofino for dinner, which was really delicious as well! For lunch, we went to the Barefoot Grill (kind of average when it came to the nachos, quesadillas, etc., but my husband loved the burger) as well as the Seaside Grill (my husband did the Tuna tostada and liked them, but I guess off-menu they have super great fish tacos that we totally forgot to try!) We did the World Cafe for breakfast, and it was an average buffet, but I'll be honest and say I'm not a huge breakfast eater so a lot of the food didn't appeal to me. We also ordered room service for lunch one day and the sandwiches were fairly good as well (however it took over an hour for them to be prepared/delivered even ordering at like 2pm when it's not the lunch rush). We didn't have the opportunity to try Bordeaux, but heard really good things about the dinner there! When it came to activities at night, I think that this is where the resort overall can step it up a little bit. However it's probably tough because it's not a big campus (when we wanted to go for a walk we found ourselves doing laps from pool to pool as it's not a big resort.) The movies on the patio were fun, however it was so hard to hear with the live music just on the other side of the pool. One night there was a wedding, and a movie, and live music and you simply couldn't hear anything well at all to enjoy it. The live music each night was nice, however it was kind of sit, chill and drink music (the dancing music didn't start until 10:30 pm at the club). One night they did have dancers who put on a show and that was really fun to see the variety of skills (flame throwing, swords, dancing, etc). After a few nights, my husband and I kind of felt out of activities to do in the evening after dinner, and since we aren't big into clubbing didn't have a lot of options besides hanging out at the bar. Overall, we did enjoy our stay and our time at Dreams. If we went back, it would be for the staff, who are just pure gold, not necessarily because the resort & amenities itself were overly amazing or fancy. BUT for a long weekend or all-inclusive, just a few hours flight away from home, this was the perfect trip! Thank you to everyone who helped make our anniversary trip awesome!

Wonderful Resort

We enjoyed this resort and will definitely be coming back. All staff is very nice and attentive. Our favorites were Roni (pool security) he helped our kids non stop on the slide and made sure we were always comfortable! Luis and Manuel were excellent pool servers and our favorites! Dining was good and they did an excellent job picking wine and ordering for us . Not an overcrowded resort which is appreciated! Make sure to bring money for tips- they work hard and deserve to be compensated!

Amazing break!

After rolling the dice and going for a ‘Deal Of Fortune’ offer, we ended up here, and we couldn’t have been happier with everything. The start was a little shaky. Unfortunately there is some construction going on next door and from our original room you could hear it quite loud. They switched our room though as soon as we requested it. Then there was the sales pitch, to try and get us to come to a breakfast where they would discuss something that ‘wasn’t a time share’ they offered money off a massage. We declined and they were understanding, nothing was too pushy at all but something I feel the need to mention. With all that out of the way we headed to the French restaurant which is absolutely amazing! To say this is all included is insane! Every place we ate at this hotel was seriously top notch and the staff were very accommodating to any additional requests. The pools were clean and well maintained, only downside is that you can’t swim in the sea, but that’s to be expected in this area I am told. Amazing vacation, very attentive staff, excellent food. Seriously couldn’t have asked for a better holiday!

Welcome Home

from the moment we stepped out of the taxi, we were treated like we've been going there for years. With a "Welcome home" from staff, and glass of champagne - we knew we were in for a great vacation. spent a day at both pools. The main pool was exciting and full of organized activities for all age levels. the adult pool was quiet and relaxing. It is hard to find a lounge chair at either if you get there past 11 am, but if you're like us, and spend most of your time in the water, it doesn't much matter. Always clean pool towels available. Bartenders were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were large and comfortable. my favorite thing each day was "turn-down service". I loved coming back to the room each night to find a relaxed and inviting environment. big roomy showers with clothes lines for swimsuits. wish there was a dresser with drawers for clothes. my partner lived out of his suitcase since there was no room for him to store his belongings - barely enough for me. Loved the food at World Cafe - always a delicious mix of American and Mexican. The nightly entertainment was amazing with our favorite being the Mexican market and fiesta. Best drinks are made at the Rendezvous (lobby) bar. The kids loved dinner at Oceana. The beach was beautiful. just 2 resorts down to a swimming beach with a life guard. My only complaint would be the service at Barefoot bar and Grill (beach bar). It was hard to get service - the kids had a better experience - but I did not get service for over 15 minutes on each of the 3 times I tried going there. All-in-all a very nice resort. Beware that it is located halfway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, so you will need to taxi to shops, restaurants, and other attractions.

What We'd Change

The undertow means no swimming at this beach, but that's true of almost everywhere in Cabo San Lucas. The wonderful pools, and variety of activities, more than make up for it!

Why You Should Go

It's only 25 minutes from the airport. So close you can hear the waves as you deplane.

Upgrade to the Preferred Club, get private beach access, 20% off spa treatments, and more.

In Los Cabos, you can go whale & sea lion watching, and swim with dolphins.

Watch movie under the stars on the beach - you'll long remember this family huddle.

There's an outdoor Jacuzzi for your soaking pleasure.

Nearby, there are Hummer tours and Camel rides. Either way, your ride will be memorable.

Get your feet (and body) wet with open-water diving, jet skiing and water polo.

Whet your appetite with tequila tastings along with Spanish, dance, and cooking lessons.

For calorie-burning and body shaping, there's Pilates, yoga, and aqua aerobics.

Take in some bocce ball, horseshoes, darts, or play chess on a monster board and feel small.

Get some arm exercise with tennis, beach volleyball or archery. Good for female guns, too.
