Great local feel hotel
We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The beach was clean and has really nice trees for shade. The beach bar was easy to access and the people were fantastic. Two bartenders really stood out in our time there, Antonio and Maurice...they were fantastic! I would highly recommend staying here. If I'm ever back in Barbados, I will be staying here again.

Being that it was my 6th trip to Barbados/Coconut Court Beach Hotel (that alone says it all !)...the Blades Family once again made you feel like an "extended member of the family"..and that also includes everyone from the Front Desk (Reservations) to all of the Hotel Staff ..Breakfast/Dining Staff and Room Service Staff. The breakfast selections ensured that you would not leave hungry! Whether you want to just veg-out and read a book while listening to the waves or enjoy the various interesting excursions that the hotel can sign you up for...there is always something for every person to partake.
This trip was a dream come true! We realized we were going during storm season and hoped for the best. The Coconut Court Hotel was exactly as it is purported to be. It is like being in someone's home. It is relatively small which we liked. It is not showy or elegant but has great charm. It is very well cared for and the staff is outstanding. It is right on the main road so catching a bus is easy. The beach is the highlight. Plenty of loungers. Plenty of options for shade from a tree or full sun if you'd prefer. Snorkeling is great right in front with an abundance of reef fish. There is music outside on some nights and a movie on the beach on Sunday. This trip was fantastic and one we will long remember!

To best narrow down the preferences you need at a resort please head to CheapCaribbean.com and click on the tab that states "Hotel" and proceed to "Hotel Finder". This will allow you to add in your preferences for disable facilities and accessibility.
DanielleCC
Not this one, unfortunately, maybe the Amaryllis next door.
Larryg987
I don't know which hotels have wheel chair accessible rooms, perhaps the Marriott in Christ Church, Barbados. It is not on the water, but is just across the street. It is brand new and beautiful, rooms and has wi-fi. The Coconut Court does not have an elevator and I didn't see any rooms that were wheel chair accessible. It had some asphalt that was broken and sidewalks were dangerous, not safe for wheelchairs. I would not stay in Coconut Ct. if I was handicapped. I have arthritis and it was difficult for me to navigate. Hope this helps.
momz
This did not appear to be handicap accessible. There were stairs everywhere. Everything was on different levels.

We are looking for a Caribbean last minute family vacation4 answers
Two boys, 10 and 13, that are hard to keep busy. One likes sports; one likes waterparks. We would like an all inclusive that is really nice (not buffet people) or just something reasonable for this. Looked at Atlantis; just not sure it is worth the money and of course, the cost once you get there.
7 years, 92 months ago
Cheryl
Cheap Caribbean has many options for an active family. Since you expressed an interest in Atlantis but didn't like the price tag, you may be interested in the Comfort Suites which is located next door to the Atlantis. Guests at Comfort Suites are able to use the facilities at the Atlantis at a much lower cost. Feel free to call one of our experienced destination specialists to assist you in finding the perfect vacation.
ccsusan1
If you fancy Mexico, we found the Now Sapphire in Cancun was awesome. We traveled there last August on a last minute deal which was fantastic value for money. Breakfast buffet to die for and 6 or 7 a la carte restaurants for evening meals, none of which you needed to make reservations for. Check out their website... the place really does like like the photos! https://www.nowresorts.com/sapphire/index.html
Chaos
Our 8 and 10 year old loved it, close by to plenty of activities, no waterparks, but great surfing on the beach out back.
Larryg987
not recommended for your boys. This place is just to relax and have peace time for adults.
Acie
This hotel is not for you! It is not a resort; I didn't see any children while I was there. So, no companions for your sons. You need to bring your own snorkel equipment in order to entertain your boys, I think. We always travel with ours. Good luck! Cruising is what I do with my kids, there is always a plethora of food and activity.

How close is hotel to Oistens?6 answers
6 years, 80 months ago
Atlanta, ga
According to Google Maps information The Coconut Court Beach Hotel is located approximately 3.5 Kilometers, or 5 minutes from Oistins Fish Fry by car.
MellissaCC
OISTENS is about 2mins mini bus ride away or not even.it only cost $1 per ride.wonderful friday night island experience.
Jaxs
5 MILES
NOPROBLEMQUINCY
Too far to walk, but maybe a 10 minute bus ride. we were there 3 nights, great place. There is a bus stop right outside hotel and it will take you direct to Oistin's.
Tinam01
Oistins is about a 15min bus/van ride from the hotel. Well worth it for a Friday or Saturday night
Jae1
You need to take the bus to Oistens and depending on how late you stay out, a taxi back, but both are extremely reasonable!

Is there surfing nearby?2 answers
I'm trying to plan a trip to surprise my husband for his 40th birthday. A friend said to stay in or close to "the Gap," but I also want to be close to some surfing spots. Thanks.
6 years, 79 months ago
Jenna
As far as the best surfing spots in Barbados, it seems that the East or South coast of the island seem to have the best surfing spots.
bscheliga
The east coast is best for surfing, we saw huge swells there (swimming is not recommended due to the strength of the current

Are there places to buy groceries nearby?5 answers
We noticed that the rooms come with a fridge and microwave. Are there any grocery stores (or fruit/veggie stands, convenience stores, things like that) within walking distance?
6 years, 73 months ago
New York
There are 2 different grocery stores nearby this resort. 1 is within a 5 to 10 minute walk from the resort.
CaitlinCC
yes
KatG
There is a convenience store caddy-corner to the hotel and about 1/2 mile up the road is a full grocery. It is also right on the bus line, we found the public busses very easy to navigate and at $2.00barbadian (or $1.00 US) it was very reasonable
Tinam01
Yes there is a store about a 2min walk called Total Convenience , didn't see things to cook but I saw microwavable items and other necessities. Both of us being from NY, I think you'd agree that basic items are expensive. For example, for a 2 liter Sprite it was $6.45 BBD, which in US is a little over $3.00. I know when I get to NYC I can pay $2.00 for a 2liter soda.
Jae1
Yes, there are a couple of stores nearby, though you might want to take a ZR bus (US$1). Some rooms have full kitchen.

Barbados uses them same electrical outlets as the US.

We are from the US and all of our appliances worked, same plugs we have here

JonesyNYC1
They have standard outlets with 3prong as well for laptops etc.

How is the snorkeling in barbados4 answers
5 years, 71 months ago
Oregon
Snorkeling in Barbados is great. The island has been blessed with perfect temperatures, calm waters, high visibility and beautiful coral reefs swarming with a fascinating variety of marine life. All this combine to make Barbados one of the best snorkeling destinations in the world.
BILLCC
We LOVED it! There was a little 'reef' outside the Coconut Court hotel that was great, not deep water but deep enough, (all beaches are public access - just can't go on property of hotel or residence, but the first 1-15 feet of beach at water are accessible)
Carlisle bay is south west corner, Dottins on west coast, Maycocks on north west. are the ones we did, Very beautiful
Tinam01
Snorkeling is AMAZING in Barbados! I lived near the reef on Andros Island in the Bahamas and Barbados is even better. You can snorkel right off the beach at the Coconut Court Hotel or take the ZR bus down to Carlisle Bay and get some GREAT snorkeling there--wrecks and whatnot. I'm truly impressed and didn't cover half of what I wanted to in a week!
Bugs198
Snorkeling in Barbados is the best anywhere! We stayed at the Coconut Court hotel in Hastings which has a small reef and we saw all different kinds of beautiful fish as well as two turtles.

How mauch to upgrade to oceanfront room and how does one book it?3 answers
5 years, 71 months ago
Oregon
Room rates vary by date. To book, select the dates you are interested in traveling, and then select the oceanfront room (as long as it is available for your dates), or call one of our experienced sales agents at 1-800-915-2322.
BILLCC
This was VERY easy for us, when we went to check in there was a list right on the counter of different types of rooms and how much per night to upgrade, they accommodated us on the spot for oceanfront, I think it was an additional $35-40 US a night
Tinam01
The rooms all have ocean view--some are walkout onto the main dining room/pool/hot tub/bar level, though. There are still steps down to the beach, so if you have accessibility issues, it's still a challenge.

Are you able to scuba dive without going through a full certification class?2 answers
My honeymoon will be in the end of August, and my fiance never went scuba diving before, I have many, many times. I know she would enjoy it but I'm not trying to pay a huge amount of money to go an hour or two scuba diving. Are their any places on the island that doesn scuba diving for a set price without getting certified?
5 years, 70 months ago
Fort Stewart, GA
No, you have to be certified to scuba dive.
CaitlinCC
I have been diving for over 30 years and would never put someone in a situation of diving off a boat without training on how to use their gear. Despite how good you think you are, I have seen experienced divers have issues after entry that had they were able to handle based on experiences that could have been disastrous even though there were several divers near them in the water. You can never react fast enough to someone who panics.
I recommend taking her to a discover scuba course locally before going on vacation to see did she is comfortable with donning the gear and being under water breathing through a regulator. This way she has some experience and familiarity with the equipment in a pool. If she can't handle that, rent snorkeling gear.

walking distance for Night Life entertainment3 answers
4 years, 59 months ago
Dee
Guests at this resort love to walk the South Coast Boardwalk where you can explore the local shops, restaurants and nightlife spots.
BethCC
Not a lot of entertainment in walking distance, but the Z-R buses will take you to The St. Lawrence Gap or Oistens for $2Bajan. There's a sweet little restaurant/lounge across the street with great daily specials (see Jason or Andre, our favorite bartenders!), including Ladies Hour--free from 10-11 pm.
Barbados is pretty laid back--not the hopping disco kind of place.
Bugs198
You can walk, its probably about 15 minutes but there a bus comes every 5 minutes or so and only costs $1.00 US Dollar to go up a good portion of the south and west coast of the island...there wasn't that much nightlife but we were there in the slow season.

Any seaweed issues in water or on beach?2 answers

The resorts certainly do what they can to keep the beach clean. You may also check review websites such as trip advisor to see the pictures of the beach and read recent reviews. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
After a tropical depression went through the southern Caribbean there was a lot at our hotel in the water and piled up on the beach which they never cleaned up like the other hotels did. Other than that the water everywhere was free of seaweed
