Worse purchase ever

The pics online show the resort waters to be Caribbean clear, not even close, the waters look like Galveston Tx Water, was n other words dirty. The food was eh! Ok I guess, the outside noise was extremely loud into the late night hours, it was hard to sleep when people are yelling outside your room. The excursion desk only cares about making that sale, there were things I was questioning due to my size & they assured me I would be fine, not even close. Did we have fun? Yes! Will we come back to St Lucia yes, will we stay a coconut bay ever again, heck no!

Nice trip

Nice and comfortable resort. The shuttle to and from the airport was easy to access. The workers were nice, knowledgeable, and gave great suggestions. The adult only section was very nice. The waterslides were fun, but small. The lazy river was nice, although if you want an inner tube you Migt have to wait a little while. The beach water was pretty cloudy although at the end of the resort the beach water settled down and you could enjoy some nice swimming. The room was cleaned daily and our maid did a fantastic job but it is a little outdated. Food was okay. Making reservations was easy and the nightly entertainment was okay. Over the 5 days we were there they had 2 big shows which were both amazing the nightlife otherwise was limited but we enjoyed ourselves.

Awesome Mother-Daughter Trip!

First of all, let's get the big thing out of the way, YES I 100% recommend this resort. I was a bit anxious about a few features from reading some of the other reviews after booking, but it was unfounded. Upon arrival at the airport, the shuttle to the resort was super easy to find and friendly. It's THREE MINUTES FROM THE AIRPORT... you could walk if you had to. Fantastically convenient. You see a handful of planes leave each...day, yes you hear them, but just for a few seconds and it's not disruptive at all. TOTALLY worth it for the easy trip to/from the airport. When we arrived at the hotel, we got a delicious welcome drink and check-in was a breeze. We got into our room right away and were able to head to the pools/beach. The room - we stayed in the Harmony adult section. The room was great. Some reviews complain that it's "dated", but come on... what do you really need? There was a cute balcony with an awesome view of the pools and ocean. There was a desk and couch and table. Two nice comfortable queens beds for our room, TV, phone, lamps and really great closet and drawer space to actually settle in which I rarely do when I travel. The bathroom was basic but again, what do you need? A clean shower, sink, blow dryer, and toilet. Everything was working and clean and the housekeeping staff did a wonderful job. There were flowers, notes, and towel designs every day which is small but mighty in making you feel good when coming back to a serviced room! There was only 1 US outlet. I did bring a converter but it didn't work... so we just worked around the one outlet. Not a problem, just be prepared/aware. Dining - The food was wonderful overall. Probably my only complaint, is the reservation process. We were there for 5 nights and could only make reservations for two nights. The first they were all booked. The second we were accommodated as a walk-in at Silk but that was a roll of the dice. The third night was Caribbean Night so the restaurants were closed but a lovely and fun meal was held for everything by the pool with entertainment. The last two nights we were at Silk and Calabash. Silk was AMAZING. Tons of options, no limit on when you can order from each of the courses. Calabash was good as well, but a but more limited as far as the menu. The buffet for breakfast and dinner the first night was typical, but really good. Flip Flops for lunch is burgers, pizza, etc and was a bit busy so the food took a while but it is delicious and what's the real hurry in paradise? Veranda is wonderful for a limited breakfast menu but with a stunning morning view.. We didn't get to experience Seaside or La Luna. The Jerk Tree House is FANTASTIC! Marvius and Harley are awesome. The chicken and cole slaw are insanely good and the set up for the area if super fun. Going back to my one negative comment it's on the reservations. I'd so much rather it be like the typical process when you go to where you want to eat, when you want to eat, see if there is a table, eat or get on a list for a wait, etc. vs. having to plan everything ahead. You can always have a drink while you wait! All of the bars are great. They have great drinks and the staff is friendly and attentive. The nightly entertainment and afternoon games, trivias etc. are all solid. The pools are super clean, never crowded, tons of seating space in the sun and shade. The beach... the beach is a hot topic on here. Now, I am a beach person. I love being on a lounge, in and out of the water all day, etc. Is this is BEST beach I have ever seen, no. However, the bad reviews on here are insanely wrong. Yes, there is seaweed in the water, wear water shoes and it's find. Also, the water is abig choppy in that no, it's not the pristine glass or some REALLY nice Caribbean areas but if you've ever been in a US East or West Coast ocean it's like that or better depending on the day. You don't have to be an expert swimmer like some have said... you can walk out quite far and just wade in the water. The areas that have lounge chairs maybe have a thin line of the seagrass where the tide ends, but that's maintained really well. A tractor comes about once an hour and clears it. You're disturbed for maybe 30 seconds then it's our of your way and the beach is clean. Other areas that are less accessible and aren't really lounge areas do have considerably more, but you're not really utilizing that area anyway so what difference does it make? For those who like the beach and aren't insanely high maintenance and difficult to please will be just fine... And if not, the pools are plentiful, clean, not crowded, and lovely overall. There were tables with vendors for souvenirs Tuesday and Saturday. They're cute/pretty and fair prices. There were some vendors and tour people soliciting on the beach. It wasn't completely clear if they were affiliated with the hotel (at least the tour guy presented himself to be) but I would stay away from those folks... we learned this a bit of the hard way. We signed up for an excursion but it was ruined by INSANE rain, lightening and thunder one day and they were a bit shady about cooperating with us on making good on the experience as far as paying/who was in charge, etc. And the vendor making jewelry and other items was kind and lovely, but not transparent about pricing and was a bit aggressive/clingy while we were nearby. But again, that's not really the resort, but something to be aware of when you're there. Stick with the resort to be on the safe side. The grounds overall are beautiful. The flowers, seating, hammocks, walkways, etc. are perfect. There are so many things to see you discover new things and areas every day. We met a lot of awesome other guests but also felt in some ways like the place was just for us. We would 100% go back and my only comments for improvement is the reservation process and a heads up on the reality of what the beach is like... Not the best, but so wonderful for reasonable people. The good FAR outweighed any isolated moments where we had any type of negative experience whatsoever... and that's EVERYWHERE YOU GO!!! :) So happy to have had a beautiful, safe, fun, delicious, sun-filled experience at Coconut Bay!

Coconut Bay Fun

We had a wonderful time. The service and all people were very friendly and efficient. We met people from al over the world. We especially loved VERNON, the work out guru! We ate gourmet meals like never before with fabulous desserts and didn't gain weight thanks to Vernon and his awesome classes; Yoga, Aquacise, Legs Buns and Thighs core work outs. He is the best instructor we have ever had anyplace in the world. He made the workouts fun yet challenging. VERNON was very entertaining and motivating! We would go back to this resort just to see him again! The all inclusive beverages were also great. My favorite drink was Coconut Rum Punch! I could actually taste the rum! At home I usually drink Chardonnay so this punch was a huge step for me. I don't drink liquor but when we go back I will be sure to order coconut rum punch! I think it will only taste good in St. Lucia! There were so many fun activities offered that we did not have time to try them all even though we stayed for 10 nights! I highly recommend zip lining in the rain forest as well as snorkeling and sail on a huge catamaran. The boat took us to Sugar Beach which was a very pristine white sandy beach. The snorkeling was great there. Even though we paid extra for these excursions they were well worth the money. I also went horseback riding. If you go I advise you to bring, boots, a helmet, and long jeans. The helmet I wore did not fit me and looked very used. I doubt that it would have protected my head if I had fallen. The ride was fun down a mountain to a beach and back up. Also if you ride in an english saddle be sure to remind the agent who signs you up to remind the ranch of this or they will automatically put you in a western saddle. The nighttime entertainment was great! We loved the St.Lucian cowboy with cowgirl dancers who taught the dances to us! We danced almost every night to a wide variety of musical genres. The beaches were good although the sand was not white. The resort made great efforts to keep the beach and sea clear of the seaweed which has invaded many Caribbean resorts this year. We did swim in the beautiful crystal clear sea on the resort. Coconut Bay Beach resort owns a huge spanse of beach. We enjoyed swimming and the beach bar at Paradise Beach. Lying in the hammocks over the sea was a new and exciting experience for me. It was very comfortable and fun! We had a very comfortable room with a king size bed and ocean view! The bed was very comfortable. I was worried about this because at other resorts the bed felt like I was lying on cement! The bed at Coconut Bay was perfect; firm but not too firm. We stayed in the adults only section of the resort. Although we like children it was nice to be able to swim in peaceful pools and relax quietly together. I also really like the fact that at 5:30AM the place was hopping with music. At 6:00 we could get fresh brewed coffee. Everything was clean and smelled good.(not like some other resorts where things are sticky and smell of rotten fruit). The only criticism I have is that the shuttles did not have microphones so it was hard to hear the drivers as they pointed out places of interest. Also it would have made driving more fun if they played island music during our excursions. I felt that we got a lot for our money and would definitely go back again!

Coconut Bay Resort and Spa St. Lucia: Get Two Resorts in One

Nestled among swaying palms in an 85-acre enclave, Coconut Bay Beach Resort and Spa St. Lucia is really two hotels in one. One wing, called Harmony, is reserved for couples and romance. Splash is the lighthearted name for the other, which is devoted to families and home to Cocoland, St. Lucia's largest water park. All guests are treated like royalty in this all-inclusive resort featuring one mile of gorgeous beach and 4 pools at the southern end of St Lucia.

Experience cherished moments with your sweetie each day on the Harmony side of the hotel. Lying side-by-side on intimate daybeds, or sharing special moments in the adults-only pool, you and your honey can enjoy a second honeymoon. Over at the Splash part of the hotel, it's the delighted squealing of kids having fun that warms your heart, as they cascade down one the resort's two water slides. Make enduring family memories as you challenge them to paintball or explore the area to learn about the island. If you want to take a walk on the wild side, guests also have free admission to the Coco Coral Petting Zoo where they can interact with the resort's goats, ducks and sheep!

You'll want to take advantage of the cornucopia of spa treatments available at Kai Mer Spa. Couples love the Champagne and Chocolate Package, busy moms can indulge with the Seaweed Wrap restorative and the Teen's Escape massage and facial or the Island Exotica Sugar Buff exfoliating skin treatment is perfect for your teenagers.

Four restaurants are ready to assuage your hunger after a full day of fun. Rattan chairs and Chinese lanterns add an Oriental note to Silk, where you might choose fish in black-bean sauce for your main course, followed by sticky-rice pudding. When you hanker for the flavors of Caribbean cuisine, Calabash has the best jerk entrees to put the kibosh on hunger.

About a mile away visit the 17th-century French Vieux Fort, and a little farther to the south, the Vieux Fort Lighthouse. Take a short drive up the western side of the island to the widely acclaimed Diamond Falls. Then retreat to a comfortable room to get ready to do it all again tomorrow.
