First-Timers Amazing Experience - Won't Be Our Last
This was our first visit to Coconut Bay, and it will not be our last! We did not have any set expectations, but it exceeded our expectations. Although many of the reviews mention their disappointment regarding the sargassum (seaweed), it is not something that the facility alone can handle. This is Mother Nature and in many cases the problem exacerbates and becomes uncontrollable despite the consistent efforts of any of the resorts along the coast being affected by this concern. So, I cannot take fault with Coconut Bay, and for us and our friends, we made the best of our vacation. We enjoyed the pool which never felt that we were crowded with others as there are so many pool options. Also, the pools, chairs and pool deck were always meticulously maintained. The pool servers were always attentive to any of our requests. We cannot thank Dona D. and Christy enough for their kindness and exceptional service. We frequented the lobby bar often and the upbeat personalities, smiles, laughs and excellent service provided by Dillan, Jamal, Erseking, and Jedi left a strong impression on all of us. They ensured we were always smiling and happy! We miss them already. Veranda was our go-to for breakfast. The service provided by Lester, Evelyn and Jasmine was always wonderful. Their service was top notch, and we always enjoyed our conversations with Lester! The buffet for lunch had so many amazing staff members that we would be remiss in only mentioning one (but I did appreciate Jerel always keeping my water glass filled!!). All of the staff ensure that everything is clean, quickly attended to, and ready to serve. They are all superb at their roles. The dinner buffets with their different shows are always fun. The food at Silk, Calabash and Trattoria are definite go-to’s. Thank you, Shakira (at the front desk reception), for ensuring everything was smooth sailing. As for the rooms, our attendant was Peggy. She provided us with lovely notes every day, which is a wonderful touch and ensured that our room was special to her. We did have a chance to encounter Hannah at Serenity. Always smiling, always willing to help. We appreciate all she did for us. And last yet not least, John Miles. Thank you for always overseeing it all behind the scenes. Your hard work ethic and behind the scenes assistance does not go unnoticed. It is your dedication to the staff that keeps this place rocking! Keep doing what you do, it was a pleasure to meet you! Finally, Coconut Bay's staff made it an excellent vacation destination. With the ability to take the tours of the island from the wonderful tour guides and then come “home” to Coconut Bay will make you want to return repeatedly. Enjoy your stay!

Horrible seaweed. Denied cancellation even though we had insurance.
They would not let us cancel and lied about the status of the beach. Horrific and nauseating smell everywhere. Probably would have given it 3 stars if not for the seaweed. The food is good if you can stand to eat it with the odor. Waking up to the smell in your room is not pleasant.

Wonderful Staff and Activities, but Seaweed Situation Ruined Our Trip
We chose this resort to celebrate a very special occasion, a 50th anniversary, and were looking forward to a relaxing and memorable stay. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by an extreme seaweed situation that made much of the trip unpleasant. When we arrived, the beach was completely overtaken by seaweed, and the smell was overwhelming. It wasn’t just a little seaweed along the shore. It was thick, piled high, and stretched across the entire beachfront. The odor made it difficult to enjoy any outdoor areas, especially the open-air dining. Multiple staff members told us this was the worst they had ever seen it. That was especially upsetting because I had called the resort just a few days before our arrival and was assured that the beach was being maintained and in good condition. When we got there, they told us the seaweed had appeared overnight, but several guests who had been there all week said otherwise. We received no advance notice and no option to adjust our plans, even though we had purchased travel insurance. That said, the resort does have some strengths. The staff was warm, welcoming, and clearly worked hard to make guests feel at home. There were plenty of fun activities, games, and entertainment throughout the day. The food was good, the air conditioning in the rooms worked well, and although the rooms are dated, they were very clean. One more thing to note, the couple we were celebrating had a room near a loud music area, which made it hard to enjoy a peaceful evening. A quieter location would have made a big difference for such a meaningful milestone. We truly appreciated the hospitality and the spirit of the team, but the extreme beach conditions and lack of transparency leading up to our stay had a major impact. With better communication and flexibility in situations like this, our experience could have been very different.

The happy family trip!!
We were a family of 11 from 17 to 83 yrs old! Our week at Coconut Bay was perfect for everyone. Our rating was #1, the people! Everyone is happy, loving to help & sharing their joy with us. Our #2 was the food! Whether the jerky booth or finer restaurants every bite we ate was delicious! We take a yearly trip & this island & resort was the first we all agreed we would love to come back to! Worth more than 5 stars!!
