Catalonia La Romana

I always book at cheapcaribbean this must be 8th trip I book. Out of all of my trips with my family this by far was a major disappointment and should be removed as a option too book. The rooms are so outdated. It looked like we were still in the 80's. The resort is resolving this problem by renovating the rooms. We spent two night in room that was not renovated and another 2 nights that was renovated. The renovated rooms are very nice I will give that to them. Service was horrible. The first two nights it was as if all 6 of us on this trip did not exists to the employees. I spoke English to everyone but what the employees did not know my wife speaks Spanish. So my wife caught the employees numerous amount of times talking trash about the people they were serving not realizing she understood them. The resort was filled with Italians. The Italians got served before we did. It was as if they tend to only the Italians in this resort. The entertainment was in Italian as well as and the people who encourage the guest to participate int he events only spoke Italian. Only if the Italians new what they were saying about them. The last 2 nights we got upgraded for free to a renovated room. I did not ask for the upgrade but it was given to us. I believe the reason for the upgrade was my mother and father in-laws had double bed and they needed a room with double beds. So we all got moved to a newly renovated rooms. With the upgrade came a different color bracelet. This bracelet allowed us to access premium beach area and another restaurant. The different color bracelet did provide just a bit better service. The pool and beach did not have anyone coming around asking if you wanted a drink. Everything required you to go to the bar. The pool had tons of sand in it and was never cleaned the whole time we were there. The beach was the best part of this stay. The water was nice and clean. Restaurants were not that great. The food did not have taste. Very little effort on changing dishes in the Buffet as well. As I mentioned before horrible entertaining at night. If there was it was in Italian. They should be doing a mixture of cultures and languages. Overall I was disappointed with this trip I took my whole family too. I was use to the employees taking care of their customer especially we are the reason they have a job. Please don't think the service I received was because I did not tip. I tip generously and still the service was still horrible.

very relaxing vacation!

It was a very nice vacation overall. The hospitality and friendliness of the staff was outstanding. the entertainment was pretty good. the beach was outstanding and the grounds were outstanding but I have to rate this resort a 3.5 for the following reasons: There should be better devide between kid and adult pool. The jacuzzi was cold when I finally tried to use on last night there. The buffet was good and also the snack bar, however there was no seafood. I feel every resort should have seafood. That is a major thing for me and I think most people. I assumed since they had 7 restaurants, there has to be at least one with seafood. This I realized two days before my trip but had I noticed earlier, it would have been a deal breaker. And last but not least, I'm not usually one to complain about rooms. I had the privilege garden view. It was clean and decent but needed a lot of maintenance.

Great VACA

Awesome time the service was out of this world. Always asking if wanted more drinks everywhere the pool, patio, beach great resort. We upgraded to the adults only royal Catalonia and it was worth it!! Swim up at and we enjoyed the food more. Some food was bland and a few times the language barrier was tough but stil 10 out of 10 can’t wait to conf back.

Beach heaven

The beach and ocean were amazing! So beautiful! The hotel was clean. Some places could use updates but it didn’t really affect our stay. The snack restaurant and the buffet were really good. The other ones we didn’t care for. Everyone is really friendly. Only issue was if your waiting at the bar for a drink and another person walks up who speaks the language they would get served before you. It got annoying. Would recommend this resort. We plan on another trip there next summer but want to experience another resort so we have something to compare.
