Outdated, poor excuse of a "resort"

They booked us a connecting flight that was almost impossible to make, and we missed the flight by minutes. We lost a day of sunshine in the Bahamas! We ended up waiting for 5 hours at the ATL airport on standby for the next flight, which we were lucky to make. The hotel we got was definitely not a 4.5 star hotel. It was a VERY dated hotel. There was major construction going on, the beach was tiny, concierge was never at the desk, and overall service of the hotel was sub-par. The hotel room didn't even have carpet. It was all cold tile. One evening, the water was running dark brown from the tub and sink. It was DISGUSTING! When we called the front desk to ask about it, they could tell us anything and just said "let it run for a while and it should be ok". It was very poor service from a Hilton hotel, which we expected to be much better. We had to complain to the manager, and he waived the cost of our breakfast. They also charge "resort fees" of about $18/night per person. I would NOT call the British Colonial Hilton a "Resort". I believe they offered snorkel and paddleboard rentals for free, but the beach was so tiny, there was no room to snorkel or paddleboard. Being right next to downtown, they had buoys setup around maybe a 15 yard perimeter around the beach so you couldn't swim past the buoys. How are you supposed to paddleboard?! I just wish I took pictures of all this to share. We would NEVER return to this hotel again!

Great downtown location

Pros: This hotel is located in walking distance to downtown straw market, mcdonalds, burger king, ferry boats and much more cant ask for a better location. Rooms are kept nice and are a bit small but they are really nice. Inside the hotel everything is really nice pool beach are is very bice as well but pool is a bit small and so is the beach area. Everybody that works at the hotel is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions Cons: There is really nothing to do at this hotel during the day or night so if you like night life or any type of action you need to go elsewhere and let me tell you taxi rides are not cheap. Pool is very small and so i sthe beach area. Everythin in the Bahamas is very expensive so be sure to bring a lot of extra cash. Overall: i would totally come back to the bahamas but maybe stay at an all inclusive. Nothing to knock on the hilton they are a great hotel but i feel i would get more for my money in an all inclusive.

Outstanding Vacation

We went to the Bahamas for our honeymoon and stayed at the British Colonial Hilton. The hotel staff was truly outstanding, attentive to our every need, exceptionally friendly and polite. The chef at the hotel's Aqua Restaurant is a master - every meal we had was superb! The hotel was clean and pleasant, with a nice little bar/lounge where the bartender makes a great margarita! The hotel has a private beach which was beautiful white sand and never crowded, and hammocks slung between the trees were a nice way to spend an afternoon. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation.

Hilton hotel

The hotel was really good, the personal very professional, the room comfortable. The only we didn't have WiFi because we had to pay and was really expensive and thankful we read it because nobody told us, the pool was temporally close and the beach the sand was a little thik more than the rest in the island. But in general very good hotel

What's to Love

The British Colonial Hilton Nassau sits smack dab in the middle of it's own private beach. And it's Nassau's only private beach. How's that for exclusive?

What We'd Change

Hilton Nassau doesn't have all the activities available that the other beach front resorts on Cable Beach have. But it does have its own beach.

Why You Should Go

Not only is the weather perfect, but the location of this resort is in walking distance to a wide variety of shopping, restaurants and bars.
