Terrible!

Not a good experience. The exterior of the hotel is nice looking, in a decent location. I’ll start with the the room - it is very old, it was clean but in need of a serious spruce. The bed was probably the worst bed I have ever slept in, so uncomfortable, I still have neck/back pain as I write this. We called down to the front desk to ask for or extra pillows since the pillows were also terribly uncomfortable and the front desk said sure that’s fine and then they call back 15 minutes later and we were questioned as to why we needed more pillows. The bathrooms were old- probably original from when the hotel opened,, a little mold and shows obvious signs of wear and tear. There was also a loud noise coming from the air conditioner. The wiring in the room also seems to be on its way or sometimes we would flip the switch and the light wouldn’t actually go on you had to flip it a few times. 2 of the 3 elevators were broken for most of our trip (we were on the 4th floor) and at one point all 3 were out of service. The construction is by far the worst. There is nothing listed anywhere on the website or Cheap Caribbean stating that here is construction. How can I relax at all when there is constant sounds of jack hammers, hammering, construction noice etc at all times (8am to 7pm). This made us not want to hang out by the pool or beach since it was not relaxing, we typically left and went to other beaches and pools. However the pool was and beach were nice. They have nice beach chairs and palapas, but I think they should have floating toys in the ocean or have some activities on the grounds, there really was nothing to do. The ice machine on our floor was also broken. One positive is the proximity to the downtown and the bus across the street, you are able to go and take the bus to Baha Mar/Atlantis and other places on the island for 1.25 a person. This was a plus. Overall I would NOT ever book with Cheap Caribbean or at this Hilton ever again. Spend the extra money and stay at Atlantis so you actually have something to do on the grounds.

Bad choice

Lovely old hotel in need of updates and repairs. Staff pleasant courteous And helpful. Be advised this NOT a resort, this just a hotel. Small private beach. To note, the entire town closes down at 6pm. (Caters to the cruise ships (3/day) that pull in) and offers the hotel beach as a ‘day pass excursion’ to cruise ship patrons!) because the town closes there are limited dinner options nearby except the local diner, McDonald’s or the hotel, which had approximately 5 entree choices which were very pricey. Many business travelers stay here. You Can taxi to paradise island, but should just stay there instead. I phoned CC to ask about reviews which discussed noise from construction next door. Was told they didn’t have any knowledge of this. Construction of a billion dollar property just adjacent is disturbing to say the least. starts at 8am and does not stop until after 8:30pm! On the other side construction is underway to build a pier and gazebo. The jackhammering is obscene, this was a horrible waste of money and disappointing mother daughter first time trip to the Bahamas. Disappointed with Cheap Caribbean!

Horrible hotel for honeymoon

The price of the room here was way overpriced. The room had a leaking shower, loose floor tiles, and low toilet pressure. There was no complimentary breakfast, which I feel there should have been due to the cost of the room. Our view consisted of a construction rack, so basically there was no view. I wouldn’t recommend this resort to anyone due to the lack of amenities. I will stay at the Comfort Suites or Atlantis hotel next time and receive more amenities for my money

Couldn’t ask for better

I am writing this on our last night here. The hotel and staff are amazing! The hotel is clean and updated and had everything you can think of for a vacation stay. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We loved every minute of our stay and would love to come back agian in the future. The resort has a private beach with access to beach towels, snorkeling gear, paddle boards, and kayaks. You can not beat the hotel location just steps from the hotel are dozens of restaurants and all the shopping you could ask for including the straw market. It is within walking distance to all the historic attractions in town such as Firt Fincastle, Queen’s Staircase, and Fort Charlotte as well as the ferry boat dock, zoo, fish fry, and Junkanoo beach. There is construction going on next door a new resort is being built but honestly we hardly noticed it. Really the only thing we would have changed is we arrived at 1:30 from our flight but check-in wasn’t until 4:00 and we had to wait until precisely 4:00 to check-in. We just went for a bite to eat and walked around town for a bit, but it would have been nice to check-in early. We are very happy we choose the British Colonial Hilton and would definitely book another vacation here! The Bahamas in general was a great place to vacation. The island was very safe we walked everywhere even at night and everyone was friendly and helpful!

What's to Love

The British Colonial Hilton Nassau sits smack dab in the middle of it's own private beach. And it's Nassau's only private beach. How's that for exclusive?

What We'd Change

Hilton Nassau doesn't have all the activities available that the other beach front resorts on Cable Beach have. But it does have its own beach.

Why You Should Go

Not only is the weather perfect, but the location of this resort is in walking distance to a wide variety of shopping, restaurants and bars.
