Stay AWAY

This is a very poor resort. Food, drinks, shows are very bad. They are unorganized without any activities planned out. Minibars (premium rooms) are stocked with pepsi, 7up and Coors Light. Can't even get a regular beer in this resort. There's nothing to do for the kids here. Go with the Iberostar, next door. We've been to 5 resorts in the DR and this was the worst.

Biggest Disappointment Ever

Let me start by saying I blame no other than the owners of this “resort”. Under the circumstances the poor employees try their best. Food: The food is absolutely terrible. There is no variety whatsoever in the buffet. Be ready to eat the same rice and beans during your stay. The only chicken you ever see is wings and dark meat occasionally. The house wine is disgusting. If you want a decent glass of wine you have to buy it for $18 dollars.Table cloths are dirty, chairs. This place is no more than a two start if that. For breakfast the same scrambled eggs day after day. Dinner the same story. They will not serve you cocktails at the buffet like other resorts. No decaf coffee. If you want decaf they bring you instant decaf for you to make it yourself and it taste horrible. There are 3 sit down restaurants. Rodizio, Mexican and Mediterranean. Mexican being the best, followed by the Rodizio and Mediterranean last. You have to make a line every morning to be able to make a reservation for one of the restaurants and unlike other resorts where based on the nights you get reservations here only once you get to go to each restaurant regardless. Only one bar by the pool and you have to make a line to get a drink. Snack bar the same chicken wings and fries every single day. No other options. When the buffet closes during the day before lunch and dinner you are stuck with this snack bar. Chicken wings and fries Liquor is the most cheapest quality you could imagine. I decided not to drink it was just not worth the calories since it was so bad. They will not give you a drink in a glass or even hard plastic cups anywhere not around the pool not the snack bar. They use the cheap plastic cups from the dollar store. Horrible. Bring your own coffe mugs to save your self the headache of waiting in line. We bought coffe mugs for 10 dollars each. There are only two bars and only one bartender per bar. As I said before I blame the owners they are saving money in hiring employees, giving customers the worse possible products cheap for them so they are making a good profit for themselves because what they advertise is defenetly what you get. There is no room service. You will find 2 cokes and 2 beers in your room that’s it. The only good thing about this resort is the discotheque which is a lot of fun. That was the only thing that made our trip. I want to thank and congratulate everyone in the animation crew all of them are excellent Cesar, Spaghetti. At the Rodizio restaurant Danny Gonzales him I would give 10 stars to. The best. All the waiters and waitresses from the 3 restaurants were excellent. The shows were ok nothing out of this world. The best one The Michael Jackson. The beach was nice and the pool clean. Just know you have to get up by 7 in order to reserve a launge chair under the shade otherwise you are out in the sun with no shade and will get toasted. The GYM is a joke. Please don’t go. There are only a few machines from like 50 years ago rusty horrible. They have no towels for you to clean these dirty machines we went one day and realized due to hygiene it was best not to come back. The emergency center my husband was in need of a bandaide for two days we went to this emergency care and they didn’t have bandaides because they have not gotten supplies. Imagine!!! Again the only ones to blame are the owners and managers. No fault of the employees they literally do the best they can. If some of them don’t smile I honestly do not blame them. If it had not been for the animation crew this “vacation “ would had been a disaster. Thank you animation crew and Danny Gonzales!! First time I travel somewhere where I am counting the days to go back even if it means go back to work. Everyone we talked to from Canada, USA, France agreed that this place is not more than a 2 stars. On Friday and Saturday the place gets filled with locals which is fine however you are going to experience longer lines for drinks and services. In the rooms toilet paper is the cheapest quality, you will get. Amino iron board I mean I’ve stayed in good resorts but this one is a joke. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER!! I have traveled to many places in the world and stayed in resorts in Punta Cana, Riviera Maya, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Rico and this place will not be more than a 1 star in those places. If you make the mistake which I hope you don’t and book this place don’t say I did not warned you.

Returning will be a tough decision

ive been to this resort several times; unfortunately, it seems to get worse. there was confusion when I first arrived, as many people(from previous day) had a flight cxl'd, and were still attempting to leave on that days flights. when I was given a room assignment, it was discovered that rooms party's belongings were still present; they hadn't yet checked out.. personal items were still there. my next room assignment only had 1 out of 56 cable channels functioning, the room radio was inoperable and there were pieces of furniture missing. I decided not to complain, as I do NOT need that reputation. I noticed during meal times, the waiters(although VERY busy), usually only filled my water glass when I was nearly 'fiinished' eating. the bartenders were ALL quite exceptional. their gym desperately needs upgrading(cardio machines). I could and would go on, but my 'opinions' have basically been stated. I left my anonymous suggestions at the lobby desk. I can ONLY hope!

poor experience

This review is long overdue and I want to express my experience at this resort with my family this summer. After two flights and much travel time my family and I arrived at the resort approximately 2 hours prior to out check in time. After an hour waiting in line we were finally attended by the front desk concierge. I was able to have have our room keys and was given our bands and told we can go eat at any of the buffet areas while we waited for our rooms to be ready at the check in time of 3 pm. This was perfect as through all the traveling we were hungry, so we figured we will eat and relax for a bit then head back up to the front desk to have our keys activated for our rooms. We got back to the from desk at 3:30 and was told our rooms were not ready yet and would have to wait another hour. At this point We were exhausted we traveled from CT to NY for our flight, and the 2 plane rides, a bus trip to arrive at out vacation. From the beginning the staff was not welcoming and I looked past it as it was fourth of July weekend and I understood that it was busy. After I explained to the desk agent that our check in time was for 3pm and at this point it was way past the time and we were hot and tired from our travels and expect to have a room available for us. After another 30 minutes of waiting and many calls a room was assigned to us. When entering our room the moisture level was really high and the room had a smell. I said to myself "we are in a tropical location so maybe after running the Air conditioner everything will be ok." Our room was by the pool area and the noise level was really loud and since I was exhausted this location was not pleasant for my mother, aunt and I. I called the front desk to see if they could change our room to an area that was less noisy. The front desk agent told me I would have to speak to a manager and that she will call me back as soon as she was done. I then recieved a call from the manager, I explained to the manager that there was a bad smell in the room and that it was also were loud and we would like to inquire about changing our rooms. she explained it would be an hour until they can change my room to come to the desk in an hour. We decided to shower and relax in the mean time, when we realized that there were no towels and no pillow covers on the bed and the sheets were stained. I was upset and immediately turned off. Things just kept getting worse and worse. My mother and aunt were aggravated, and I was disappointed and embarrassed that I invited them to a vacation that they were not having a good experience with from the very beginning. We called to have room service bring us towels to shower and when the woman arrived she took up upon herself to just open the door. My mom just got out the bathroom without a towel and this woman had the audacity to just let herself in without knocking. She gave us an attitude because we asked for 3 towels and only wanted to give us one towel and wash cloth for the 3 of us. She told me that they were low on towels, can you believe that, she expected us to share?!!!! When I told her we were not sharing and this room was booked for 3 and I expect us to each have our own towel etc. The rooms should have been 100% ready and they were not!! Eventually she gave us the towels but can you believe we had to beg for it basically? I called the Manager back at the front desk very upset, not only were we not pleasantly welcomed, room was not ready on time, the smell was terrible, music was extremely loud but we had no towels and our beds were not made. The manager apologized for the inconvenience, but this apology could not take the hard time we were given and all we wanted to do was take a shower and rest from our long day of travels. She told us to give her some time that they will have a room ready for us to that we would be happy with in a quiet area and she hopes that we would have a good experience going forward. She showed us to the new room just one section over, it was quiet and was ready, clean and had no smell but this didn't make up for the terrible experience we had with their front desk customer service, and their room service help. The food was terrible and I had a stomach ace for my week there and a week after I arrived home. We were convinced we were eating fake food. The cocktails were also not good at all!! Positives were the pool area was nice and nightly entertainment was enjoyable. The beach was beautiful of course being in the Caribbean. I would however not recommend this resort to anyone. I been on other all inclusive vacations, one in which was booked the previous year through cheapcaribbean and I had a great experience and this was no where near comparable. I booked this vacation for my family and I and although the beach was nice we remember the nightmare customer service we experienced and the bad food we had.
