Check in time was 3pm, we arrived about 330pm and was told our room wasn’t ready yet and that we could head over to the bar area and have a drink and would be ready in 10mins. Well 2hours later it was “ready” no towels and the housekeeper was moping while we waited in the hall. The hotel was in fair condition. There was a weird drip from the ceiling in our bathroom and then in our hall way by the closet. So much that we had to put a towel down so that we would not slip in the middle of the night on a puddle. We had to call and ask for towels and toliet paper. The water was off in our room for a day. No explanation or apology when asked just told it’ll be on in 5mins. 27hours later we had water again. The food was okay. The worst part was the staff ignoring us or down right just being rude. We would be standing and waiting for a coffee or drink and then be told there was none of what we wanted to drink while serving it to some one else. We were also asked to move from some lounge chairs when we had been on them the previous 2 days as they were for the VIP customers. Which was not true. We were bugged every time we left the buffet to buy something or sign up for something. As long as we didn’t want or need anything it was a beautiful trip but would of paid the extra $ for a better experience at another hotel.
Pro: Beautiful beach, spacious pool
CONS: (yes there are more than one)
1) FOOD: please only come here if u dont wanna eat. I promise you this food is legitimately terrible. I always hated when people would complain about food and that they should just suck it up and eat it, but I have learned now that food really can be absolutely disgusting and torturous to eat. Be Live Collection has by far has the worst food in the entire Caribbean. The Food was inedible. I am not picky and have been to multiple resorts and always gain weight but this one was so terrible i lost 5 pounds during my trip because i decided to live on fruits which was the only edible thing.
2) RECEPTIONIST: There were 7 of us that went on this trip and we booked 3 rooms and made it clear we were a family that WE wanted to be together. They instead separated all of us into different rooms in different locations and no one would help us. The receptionist basically told us there's no management or anything that could help us and that it was final. Rude but we had to accept it, you know?
3) DINNER RESERVATIONS: On the first day of our arrival, the first thing we did was try to book our dinner reservations. The lady told us there was no availability for all 4 nights that we stayed. Therefore, we were forced to eat at the inedible buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.(we ended up paying to go eat places outside of the resort because that was super messed up).
4) ROOMS: All 3 of our rooms smelled like fish. we didnt care though but it really messed with our clothes. The beds, bathrooms, walls, everything was old and run down. Don't advise couples to come here. It's really gross.
Out of the 3 rooms, only 1 of us had a blow-dryer.
Most infuriating thing that happened: On the first day, it took them 3 hours to deliver towels. Why don't the rooms already come with towels?! so stupid. we air dried and just dealt with it once again.
5) Poolside & beach, you have to pay $10 to sit on the cabana's, which is so stupid, I am already paying you to be here.
6) some staff are really nice and helpful. if u do decide to go to this god awful place, please make sure to bring enough singles to tip. Also, keep in mind they dont speak english so learn a few things before you go.
Before you book with this agency check out other resorts on your own. Originally booked a different place and after everything was confirmed received a phone call that place was overbooked. Gave us an option of 2 other places and unfortunately we picked a horrible place. You know the saying you get what you pay for. Oh yeah that is definitely what this hotel was all about. First room we were assigned to flooded. Took almost 2.5 hours to get a new room of course after arguing with them. Room service 10 thumbs down. Again had to wait till after 4 pm to get towels. No wash clothes don’t even sweep floors. Totally insane. Talked to numerous other people. People who purchased through cheap Caribbean people who bought on Groupon and people who booked directly on their own and people who booked on their own received better treatment and rooms. Oh another thing people are rude here. Not the vacationers the people who work here. All they are looking for is the almighty dollar. We made the best of it but probably will never book through cheap Caribbean again. Do your own research first
When my wife and I and another couple arrived at the resort we were put into two rooms neither of which had working air conditioning. We spent the first two days and one night in 82 degrees rooms. By the end of the second day, and a lot of complaining, they finally moved us to two rooms that had semi working air conditioning that brought the temperature down to 78 degrees but neither of the toilets worked. We spent the first three days and two nights trying to get into comfortable rooms. After which we went to relax in the pool. They have a beautiful swim up pool bar, the only problem was instead of having a bar tender behind the bar they had stacked up empty boxes. As far as the staff having a helpful pleasant attitude it was about 50/50. Two other USA family that we met were looking for other resorts to transfer to. I know that we will never stay there again and I would not recommend it to anyone else.

Which beach is better, Altantic or Caribbean in Dom Republic?10 answers
Such as we want to know whether or not to stay in Lifestyle Tropical Beach resort or Be Live Canoa in DR. They both seem to have their advantages but the beaches seem to be be the deal breaker. PLEASE LET US KNOW ALL YOUR INPUT AND SUGGESTIONS! Thank you!!
7 years, 86 months ago
Same, but not in Puerto Plata on the place
In the DR, the Atlantic side seems to have nicer beaches, but it is the Atlantic Ocean, so it's the usual murky green water. Has waves, but many of the places I've been to restrict swimming to a roped off area.
The Caribbean side is the clear turquoise water you can snorkel in. Tends to be calmer water.
Depends on what you are looking for in a beach.
Stayed at Allegro (now Dreams) on north shore Punta Cana and at Oasis Canoa (now Be Live Canoa) on the south shore in La Romana.
I found that both the beach and the water to be more enjoyable in La Romana. Clear blue water, calm almost glass-like. Sandy, westward facing beaches, easy to stroll on.
The beach is beautiful, white sand, turquoise, clear water, palm trees swaying in the brise. A dream.......
Caribbean beaches tend to have calmer water... Atlantic side has more waves.
well i loved the beach it was very nice and warm but i heard the beach in puta cana is a little smoother i dont know
I can't answer for the other property but Be Live Canoa has a beautiful beach ( White sand) with activities.
Bayahibe Beach (Be Live Canoa) is beatuiful and the water is very clear and calm for swimming.
Caribbean side for sure. Way less algae on the beach... waters further out are similar though.
I just came back from Be Live, and it was a bad resort. I just posted my review, hopefully it will get accepted. Try Dreams resorts...
What are dominican alcoholic beverages?10 answers
The All Inclusive Be Live Canoa in the DR says Dominican alcoholic drinks are included. Besides beer, what does that refer to specifically. I assume rum. Anything else?
7 years, 85 months ago
yes. it also means a variety of mixed drinks which usually have a mixture of either rum, vodka, gin, whiskey etc. I must advise you that the quality of the alcoholic beverages is not the best. Unless you want to pay extra for johhny walker black, chivas regal and a variety of other good quality liquor. these liquors will always be on the top shelf of the bars and not included in the cost.
It also included some international drinks.
Anything else, but Champagne.......all drinks are pretty much included.
you're right. They provide local beer and cheap rum. You can get some cheap mixes with low quality vodka, tequila and rum. that's pretty much it.
all kinds of alcohol is included even beer
They have a wide array of alcoholic beverages incuding vodka, bacardi rum, and a multitude of alcoholic mixed drinks
all house liquor is included; they can make a good number of mixed drinks - tequila, rum, vodka, ect.
They have rum and most other alcohols. Word from the wise, their beverages are very watered down, I recommend purchasing a bottle of rum from one of the activity centers, normally $6 a bottle and just asking for ice, or soda of your choice to mix yourself.
I didn't drink much but beer, rum, tequila, and margaritas were definitely on the list. They also had wine at the restaurants.
They do have but they are really bad, the cocktail are horrible
Is there any private beach for nude sunbathing?10 answers
6 years, 83 months ago
This resort will not allow nude sunbathing however the Temptations and Hedonism resorts do have clothing optional sunbathing. Couples Tower Isle and Couples San Souci in Jamaica have separt beaches set aside exclusively for au natural sun bathing as well . For more options please feel free to call one of our experienced destination specialist.
Not that I know.
Fully nude is not allowed but topless is very common, practically the norm.
Hello. Sorry to reply back so late. The beach is located right in back of the hotel so whoever does occupy the beach is only the guests. Nude I am not sure although for the ladies topless is okay.
Hope this helps.
I do not know about any private beach for nude sunbathing.....but most people in the resort suntan topless........
Nope. The beach is really small, and I hardly saw any topless sunbathing.
no, and they dont allow it
My fiance says a snorkel trip must be included. Is the snorkeling in this area any good? We have never gone and do not want our first trip to be a bust...
6 years, 81 months ago
Adding a separate snorkeling excursion is optional, however most of our resorts do offer free non motorized water sports, including snorkeling, as part of the all inclusive package. Snorkelling in the clear blue waters of the Caribbean is never disappointing. A separate excursion may take you to deeper waters and to proven snorkeling locations which are guaranteed to introduce you to amazing underwater flora and fauna.
Yes Snorkeling is great in this area
As a diver, I thought the snorkeling right off the property to be so-so. Lots of sea grass and hardly any fish. However, the water is clear and quite calm at all times. The onsite dive shop is fantastic and can take you out on the boat to better snorkeling areas.
Yes, snorkeling is very good in this area, there is a coral reef, about 200 yards out, from the beach.Other than that I would suggest a snorkeling trip to Catalina Island.....not far from there. Simply beautiful.......
Didn't see any good snorkeling while we were there. Water was a bit cloudly, really. We did some snorkeling for the first time on an excursion we took while there, off of Isla Saona, where we got to see quite a bit. If its something you're looking to do every day, look elsewhere. If you just want to do it a few hours, I'd suggest an excursion. We used SeaVis, and they were great.
well me and my husband did a little not a lot and it was pretty good
Not really near the Bayahibe beach, there are some fish but not too much to see... there might be better snorkeling on an excursion trip.
it does say its included but when you get there you have to pay for the gear even though it say included. The workers are just trying to make money
As far as the waters at the resort, it exists but doesn't compare to the snorkeling in Hawaii IMO. I am sure it depends on the area you are in but as far as at the resort, you will see fish but probably not the colorful amazing fish you're expecting.
They offer that you have to pay very expensive and maybe not to good
What is the night life like?9 answers
I am a college student going down with a friend, and we were wondering if there were any dance floors or fun activities during the night that would attract a couple college kids. Thanks!
6 years, 76 months ago
Hotel Be Live Canoa offers many entertainment options from the night club that opens nightly inside the Sports Bar to a theater. The entertainment staff puts together a daily program for guests' enjoyment.
Yes there certainly is. There is one disco in the resort, open from 11 pm every night. If you are into techno etc. you will enjoy it. There is also pool billard , soccer games etc to entertain. Some people select to go by bus the near casino and disco, located off the resort. Every wednesday is beach party time......with the animation team......a lot of entertainment........
oh trust me there a lot of dancing there specially at night they have a club inside the resort and the entretainers make it better
The disco does not work. They will send you to a casino off property to utilize their disco and a fee is involved. The nightly entertainment is good. This is presented by employees.
There is a small dance floor at night for dancing by the bar, but if you are looking for a spring break party atmosphere, Be Live Canoa isn't your pick; mostly families and couples.
Not really. But during my stay there were a few nights where the beach was lit. Try punta Cana for partying.
Only if you know Spanish you would love the parties.
They have their own night club, I didn't visit it so that's where my help ends.
Yes at night they have a lot of fun

The Be Live Canoa is about 40-50 minutes from the Gran Bahia Principe La Romana.
I think you are talking about the Bahia Principe resort in La Romana, located close to San Pedro De Marcoris.....about 20n miles away. I have not stayed in that resort, but know that San Pedro De Marcoriz is a little city , very much alive.
It's on the other side of La Romana, so probably about a 40 minute drive or so.
well all depends what other resorts viva wyndam is like 10 minutes away and dream la romana too.
I can't recall the exact distance, but it is relatively close.
What is all inclusive5 answers
6 years, 75 months ago
The All Inclusive Plan includes accommodations as selected, unlimited food and drink, dominican alcoholic beverages, house wine with meals, non-motorized water sports equipment, all resort fitness and recreation facilities, all resort activities and entertainments, supervised children's club (ages 4-7), taxes and gratuities.
room price includes dining (you still have to pay in some restaurants on premises and leave tips) and non-motorized water and on-site sports.
You need to lave a deposit for snorkeling.
evrything is included all kind of drinks rum, beer anything and foods
All inclusive is the best choice for a caribbean vacation; it includes all meals, drinks and fun activities at the resort. In other words, it makes a worry-free vacation.
Yes! .... except non-motorized sports and wifi internet.
Does the all inclusive vacation also include transportation from the airport to the resort and back agaain9 answers
Does the all incluvsive vacation also include transportation from the airport to the resort.
6 years, 74 months ago
The all-inclusive package at hte resort includes all meals, snacks, drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), entertainment, and most activities. Transportation to and from the airport is not included, however CheapCaribbean.com does offer the option of adding round-trip transfers at an additional cost to your reservation pacakge when booking, or after a booking has already been made.
No - we had to pay an extra 60/person for roundtrip transportation. You can do it online or through the sales rep. Absolutely worth it as it's about 1.5 hours from Santo Domingo Airport and you won't want to take a taxi. In fact I never even saw one...
Not if you fly out of Santo Domingo (I'm not sure about La Romana) - would definitely recommend buying the Olympus Tours round-trip shuttle through Cheap Caribbean.
No. We had to pay for that separate for each person.
No, but there is an option to buy a transportation package. I would definitely recommend it as it costs $100 from the Santo Domingo airport to the resort.
You pay for that separately. We always do private, worth it!
No you have to pay for it

Yes and it's very nice.
Its on the beach but yet you have to walk to the beach
Beach and pool are right on sight

Yes it is. There's lots of beach chairs and the pools are close by as well.
Do you have to pay a deposit to use the hobie cats/kayaks, etc. at Be Live Canoa or Dreams La Romana?5 answers
5 years, 72 months ago
The resort does not specifically state that there is a deposit required to use the non-motorized water sports on property. You would be best to check with the resort directly as they will be able to provide the most up to date and accurate information for you.
No deposit for Kayaks, not sure if hobie cats are included. $25 deposit for snorkeling eq but you get it back...
Not at Be Live Canoa! All non-motorized sports are included.
No. We only had to extra for a safe lock key to use the safe box that is located in the room
I don't know. I did not use them.
But don't do Be Live... it sucks! Go to Dreams!

How to get from the airport to the resort5 answers
What is the best way to get to the resort from the Punta Cana airport? I realize it is a lengthy trip so I would like to know the most reliable option for the best price!
3 years, 42 months ago
We offer both shared and private round trip airport transfers through Amstar. For pricing, please contact our office at 800-915-2322. Thank you!
I flew into Santo Domingo which still required a transfer which was 90 minutes long. Scheduling a transport company is probably best if you have to fly into Punta Cana or see if you can get a flight from there to La Ramona airport which is very close to the resort.
I suggest you book with Cheapcarribean.....they were there when we arrived didn't have to deal with the crowds and was taken to our hotel immediately without waiting.
The most reliable will be through Cheap Caribbean. If not you can go onto a site that offers excursions and ground transportation. Taking a shared transfer will likely be the best option & can be booked round trip in advance. As you said, it is a long trip.
I went with the transfer service offered by cheapcaribbean.com out of fear of safety in a third world country. This option also made it easy to find my ride. As far as cheapest, probably Uber.
Do you have to pay full package price at time of reservation5 answers
Do you have to pay total package price at the time of reservation
3 years, 41 months ago
We do have a deposit option available, but there are certain terms that need to be met. Please contact one of our Beach Experts for more information at 800-915-2322.
No. First initial payment takes place when you first book and the second 30 days prior to trip.
I will say when you book with Cheap Caribbean, booking well in advance will allow you to pay an initial deposit that typically covers the cost of the flights selected. The balance will be due in full at least a month or more prior to departure. Once you arrive at the resort, you will have the option to add amenities, etc. I hope I answered the question properly.
Is alcohol included in this all inclusive package ?5 answers
2 years, 31 months ago
Yes, although the selections on imported alcoholic items may be limited. Domestic selections are unlimited in the all inclusive.
No, this is not an all inclusive resort. However, breakfast is included.
Yes but be advised I believe they are watered down. I drank a lot and never even got a buzz.
Yes, but the alcohol is so watered down, it's mostly just juice/syrup.
yes it was.
How can I book in the VIP section at the Be Live in La Romana5 answers
2 years, 31 months ago
When you arrive, you may ask about availability in upgrading at the resort directly upon check-in. If you have any further questions or need help booking, please call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
At Checkin or with cheap carribean. VIP a must. Don't go without it
Request VIP at check in
Upon arrival it will be an option. They will automatically ask. I believe there is more than one tier regarding VIP. You can also, try going directly to the website once your booking is completely paid through Cheap Caribbean.
At the front desk when you arrive.

No. Not unless you upgrade to VIP.
Is there a place to parasail nearby?
2 years, 28 months ago
Theres lots of sailing in La Romana, not so much parasailing. That is not to say there isn't a company doing it but is more common to find in Punta Cana area.
There are helpfull staff to assist with all onsite or nearby water sports or adventures
Yes walking distance from the beach.
Yes u have to put a reservation
I saw people parasailing in the waters in front of the resort so I would assume one of the tour booking people in the lobby can help you book that.

Is this a large resort with alot of walking?
2 years, 28 months ago
Be Live Collection Canoa's 871 rooms are located in 12 three-story buildings. The resort is big.
It was an extremely large resort! I'm 21 and at the end of the first day my feet hurt!
It was more walking than any other resort I have visited. Not too many floors though. But the eating and lobby areas might be a little far from your room depending.
It is NOT large. It is small with lots of walkways between buildings and resort facilities. The resort is very level with benches to rest along the way. The property is pretty well contained. There are no elevators. If stairs are an issue request a ground floor unit upon booking and check in.
Very big... too big! Over 800 rooms! I didn't like it.

What is the food like?5 answers
How were the restaurants and the buffet?
1 year, 22 months ago
This resort has plenty of great options to choose from with the Buffet, Japanese, Mexican, Steakhouse, seafood, Italain restaurants, you'll never be bored!
The food is subjective. It's different. If you are accustom to Dominican fair, it may be a non issue. I found it difficult to find my niche at the buffet initially. The best luck for me were salads, fruit, and pasta. Also, there is a line where some items are prepared while you stand there. That seemed to work for me as well. The Lobster House was delicious all around. The Mexican Restaurant was not idle.
Not very good. I'm sorry to say. But the resort is gorgeous!
Surprisingly the restaurants were great, buffet kinda not so much...
The buffets sucks. Must pay extra to eat good
Locals on the Resort all weekend?5 answers
I read on some other web-sites that this resort lets the locals in on the weekends and they take up the entire property and display rude behaviors. Is this true?
1 year, 16 months ago
We have not heard anything from the resort or guests in regards to this. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
I was there this past weekend, they do allowed the locals to rent/stay there on the weekends. They are paying costumers for what I gathered. As far as my experience with them, they were very nice people, they won't engage with you unless you engage with them. They keep to themselves but they are also very friendly. I did not experience any one rude at all, not the locals nor the other guest either.
On my visit there were no issues like this. Some locals do visit but are paying just like us.
Yes this is true and very annoying.

No 10 per person
No, we had to pay 10$ in the airport
no you have to pay $10/person at the airport
How much does the wifi cost?5 answers
After you use your 1st free hour what is the cost?
1 year, 14 months ago
Free Wi-Fi for one hour per day by device in the main pool area. . As the rates are offered at the resort and may change at any time, please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
Its 25$ for 25 hrs, u can use hrs ad you go, a few a day.
They have different packages available a week is $60 for one device. This was the only package I considered plausible because the packages for less time were pretty steep, I believe one day is $35 for one device. It has to be purchased from an office designated as the WiFi office which is over towards the resorts theater. I found it just as cheap to talk to my U.S. phone carrier about extending existing service internationally for a few days.
In case you weren't aware, the free hour only works around the pool.
$4.00 for 15minutes or best rate is $60.00 for 7days
