Disappointed

My stay was disappointing. The beach and pool were very nice. But the food and entertainment were lacking. If there was a lot of entertainment, they didn’t advertise it much. The main buffet was almost always closed and I was only able to eat there for the breakfast the last day. That buffet was decent, but was closed when I came by at 130pm and 530pm. The grill has a buffet that my Gf and I ate at most of the time. The quality was very poor. Even the burgers and pizza were terrible. The burgers were worse than high school cafeteria food and i think old 7/11 pizza tasted better. Pretty bad when those easy items are bad. The a la Carte restaurants weren’t much better. The steak at the steak house was terrible. And room service isn’t included in the all inclusive. That’s odd. I understand if they charge a fee to deliver it to the room, but for an all inclusive the room service food shouldn’t be extra. Last, they have a dolphinariun that holds dolphins in a small pool, which is very inhumane.

Not worth the money

Ok, so I came to this resort under the impression that this was amazing. More expensive than the cruise I was going to book. I only came because friends of ours said this would be better experience. The place I will say is absolutely gorgeous and clean, however the service is really non exsistant. Only one day out of our 8 day stay was the staff friendly and interactive with us. The pillows could be much better as they have no support for you. Other than that the bed was fine for us. I did have wet beds that I had to ask multiple times to get changed even went as far as bringing management into it and then 3 days later they were changed. . Also learned by staying in the palace that it is not worth the money as far as amenities and alcohol choices, by this I mean that the “lesser” hotels down the chain had better alcohol choices. I don’t know if I will book Another trip to the barleco palace. May do cruises in the future because at least when your spending that much money you have excellent service.

Fifth time and the last

Fifth time here. We’ve recommended this resort to several other families. The resort itself is beautiful however everything has gone way downhill. First, the food overall at the Buffett has been terrible. Not that we expect it to be great but it’s terrible. Second, the service is nonexistent. Turn down only happened a couple times. Maybe you’d get a waiter maybe not. Wet bedding 3 nights in a row. And when we complained we were just old we’d get a bottle of champagne. Third, the entertainment has become a joke. Not a single show was worth watching. The sound went out, the screens wouldn’t work. It seems to me that they’re bringing everything “in house”. The dolphins, the mall and I think the entertainment is also a few untrained “performers”. The service and the food USE to be what made the palace worth the extra costs. Now that it’s gone you might as well stay at one of the lower end resorts and save your money. And being that we’ve been here 5 times already and brought 5 families here with us you’d think MAYBE there would be something special as far as customer loyalty...but nope. We got stuck in the fartherest away room from everything...thanks Barcelo...

Great family trip!

Our fammily recently returned from a fantastic holiday in Barcelo Maya Palace in Mexicos Riveria Maya. We absolutely loved this hotel! The staff is extremely friendly and offered a great variety of restaurants and drinking venues. The pools were fantastic and our daughter particularly enjoyed the free water park. The resort is situated in an ideal location. The beach at the hotel is spectacular. We swam with the most beautiful fish right in front of the Maya Palace. Couldn’t miss them as there were so many! The staff really made this holiday great. It was my daughters first visit Mexico and the staff went out of their way to make her feel special. She enjoyed playing on the beach making sand castles and playing with the hermit crabs. In particular, I would like to mention Hermenegildo Citula, Angel Tamay, Rebeca Perez and Mizael Hernandez - who both worked in the beach buffet restaurant at breakfast time. They were fantastic with us and our daughter. They were so very friendly and are an absolute credit to the Barcelo name. There is also so much wildlife in the resort itself. Several large Iguanas, and fabulous birds. Fun to watch from the balcony. The grounds of the resort were meticulously kept and This is our first time in a Barcelo resort but it definitely won’t be our last as the quality beyond our expectations. Thank you so very much to everyone who made our holiday so great! We will be back!

What's to Love

The all-inclusiveness & all-aah-mazingness of everything.

Chillaxing & living large with an umbrella drink in the padded in-pool loungers.

The anxiety-ousting spa with the flotation tank, Swiss shower & reflexology.

The Kids Club that has wave after wave of fun & a buffet for your beach munchkins.

What We'd Change

Without a door separating the shower from the dressing area in the suite, you may have to learn to share bathroom time wisely or risk getting wet.

Why You Should Go

It's 47 miles south of the airport - just enough time to unwind before you hit Beach Eden.

Don't miss the Dolphinarium, where you can shake fins with these friendly, smiling critters.

For splashy fun, there's windsurfing & water trikes. For less water, try mini-golf.

There's tennis, beach volleyball & a fitness center - or a pool table if you just want to hang.
