Bad experience, will not stay again
We recently checked out of the Barceló Maya Palace a day early due to a combination of safety and service failures that were unacceptable for a resort of this supposed caliber. Health Hazard & Safety: The most concerning issue was the discovery of visible mold in our initial room. This is a severe health hazard, especially since there are children in our party with respiratory sensitivities, and it forced an immediate, stressful room change. Service Failures: We experienced a total breakdown in essential guest services: Childcare: Babysitting services, requested days in advance, were never confirmed or fulfilled. Concierge: My spouse's multiple attempts to arrange a simple birthday surprise via the concierge failed completely. No surprise was ever delivered. Misleading Policies: The advertised 40% spa discount for Palace guests was initially denied due to an unannounced "48-hour rule." This required a time-consuming and frustrating complaint at the front desk before the correct discount was finally honored. The resort's disorganization and indifference—highlighted even by the lack of a simple welcome gesture upon check-in—defined our stay. We shortened our vacation because the resort failed to provide a safe, reliable environment. Future guests should be aware of these systematic service failures before booking.

Bar Service
It’s clear that Eduardo, Leonardo, Jorge, and Erika take great pride in what they do, and they truly represent the high standards of Barceló Hotels & Resorts. I’ll definitely be coming back, thanks to their excellent service and great atmosphere! Eduardo is a part time magician too!!!

Family vacation
Everything was good. No real issues or problems. Enjoyed the pool. Loved the fact that nobody can reserve the lounge chairs.

Don’t come here
The manager was very rude to my mother in law to the point of her crying. I don’t appreciate the disrespect after spending a lot of money and being treated like trash. If you’re debating between what resorts to go to, put this one at the bottom of your list because the service here is the worst I’ve seen in any country. No respect here and not worth the money.

Come here if you want to get yelled at my the manager.
Our experience at Barceló Palace was honestly terrible. There was absolutely no information provided about anything from where to go, to how things worked, to what was included. We kept getting different answers every time we asked. To make it worse, the manager was incredibly rude and even yelled at us when we tried to calmly ask for clarification. It completely ruined the vibe of what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. The manager also said he would check the cameras to prove that we got papers and try to prove us wrong. When we checked in our rooms ac did not work the floors were wet and our fridge was broken. Not something you expect when you pay as much as we did to go on a nice vacation. If you’re debating between resorts, don’t even think twice — Grand Palladium is 1000x better in every way: service, communication, and how they treat their guests. Barceló needs serious improvement in management and hospitality.
