  Decent resort

  Advice is to book Premium level or don’t go to the Barcelo in Huatulco. We had a better trip when we went to Dreams a few years ago.

  Fabulous, will come again!!!!

  This resort is absolutely fantastic for families, Couples or solo. The beach was pristine and the sea life was fabulous. The rooms were clean, timely mini bar restocking everyday! We did not have the "premium" package, But still felt valued. Fernando, was our regular pool waiter and was amazing. Gloria, the pool area manager was out everyday making sure things ran smooth. She was friendly and engaging, and had a great sense of humor. The resort is smaller than a lot of others, and I loved the quaint feel! My only complaints were that for non-premium guests the drinks are very weak...until end of day. I think they were trying to make sure no one puked in the pool 😂 Also the buffet restaurants are understaffed, but they work very, Very hard! They could use help with about 3 more servers per buffet. Overall staff was amazing and the cleanliness of the resort was great! Views were next level. I don't think I'll visit any other part of Mexico again.... Huatulco won mine & my wife's heart.

  Third visit. Only a few glitches.

  A great location. Great vacation. Facility is clean and well maintained. Staff are pleasant and accommodating. The pool bar is poorly laid out and the staff are doing their best. They need more space to work. The temperature of the food at the buffets was a bit concerning. I understand that it’s difficult to balance “hot enough” and “burned on” but barely warm doesn’t suffice. My only real complaint would be the content of the afternoon entertainment at the main pool. The Saturday afternoon “Pool Party” was a combination of burlesque and an overly loud club atmosphere. The performers were certainly talented and energetic but the fishnet stockings and seductive dancing was not age appropriate for the children in attendance. Nor was the volume of the music. These minor complaints did not detract from an overall pleasant experience. We went there for sunshine and relaxation. It didn’t disappoint.

  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Barceló Hotel – Huatulco, Mexico Outstanding Resort and Incredible Staff!
During lunch at La Tortuga, I accidentally left my Cabo baseball cap and my prescription Oakley sunglasses behind. When I realized they were missing, I went to security and explained the situation. Within an hour, they had already found my cap — and after reviewing hours of footage, they discovered that a family had taken my sunglasses. The security team tracked exactly where they ended up, and I was reunited with them later that same day. A huge thank-you to Antonio Aguilar (Security Supervisor) and Esao Navarrete (General Manager) for personally returning them to me. Their professionalism and dedication were truly impressive — and thank goodness for cameras! I also want to express a very special thank-you to the incredibly attentive staff at the Barceló:
Francisco Mijangos, Maria Reyes, Octavio Mijangos, Leticia Canseco, Cirilo Martinez, Laura Garcia, Samira Ovando, Alma Martinez, Lidia Bernardo, and Luis from the Beverage & Food Department — your warmth, care, and attention made every day better.
And Carlos, the always-smiling server at the La Tortuga buffet, deserves a big shout-out for the cheerful songs he sings while working. His positivity is contagious. Of course, there are many others who help this place run so smoothly — the amazing bartenders, the caring caretakers, and all the behind-the-scenes staff who brighten each day. Their hard work truly makes this hotel great. The resort itself is an easy 5 stars: spotless rooms, delicious hot food, great drinks, a gorgeous beach, and a super-clean pool. Every staff member we met was kind, attentive, and genuinely focused on guest experience. A perfect destination for a relaxing getaway!

  A nice place

  The hotel is really nice. Great location. The staff is all very nice and happy to help and chat. One of the ladies working in Dona Rosa restaurant told us that she has a lot of family members working at different hotels in the area and that the Barcelo treats their people better than any of the other properties, and it shows because they are all so happy and kind. The cleaning of our room could have been better, particularly the bathroom. Also some things in our room were looking a very worn out, like the bathroom mirror, hairdryer and the hand held shower head wouldn't stay in position when trying to raise it. (Room 145). As for the toiletries in the room I have never seen such a generous assortment, shower cap, razor and shaving soap, toothbrush and tooth paste, sewing kit... the list could go on. I am a Tour Director and stay in A LOT of hotels every year, none can compare to the Barcelo Huatulco. The entertainment was the best I have seen at any Mexican resort and I've been to Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta and a huge RIU in Cancun. None come close. Martin is an excellent musician, his skill at circular breathing while playing the saxophone was mind blowing. Katherine and Alex were also very great performers as were all of the dancers. The beach is very steep and the sand extremely coarse and uncomfortable to walk on for a long time so we avoided the beach. It is a 10 minute, 100 Peso taxi ride to the town of La Crucecita which is very nice. Lovely Zocalo and the church is beautiful. The food in the buffets was average at best, there was nothing that really wowed me. But on Thursday night they held a huge outdoor buffet and barbecue on one of the lawns with singers. It was very nice but we never received any communication that it was happening. We found out when we went out for dinner and found all of the restaurants closed. It would of been nice if the hotel management had communicated that this special dinner was happening. Overall it was a great trip and we will return one day.
